Satnav Extraordinaire - How Does It Do It?

Recommended Posts

On my first fairly long journey from Wales down to the South coast I encountered information from my SatNav that surprised me.

First was a message that told me that a lane up ahead was closed.

Sometime later it told me that there was heavy rain ahead.

On the way back (via Northampton and M25), I was informed of a closed road and asked if I wanted an alternative route.

Now I've had SatNav for many years in other vehicles and I'm aware that you can subscribe to receive information such as I have described above, but wasn't aware that it was a 'standard' feature of the Lexus version.

Hey, ya came down to the sunny south coast!! Well it was sunny on Sat but pants after that!!

Think I saw a setting in the menu for Traffic info. Guess it has to be turned on or off? I really should go and get my book before attempting these answers..DUH!

Does it activate through your phone if its attached?

Must go and read!

We travelled down WB 10th. and the weather was brilliant - all week. Returned to typically Welsh weather now - back in our wellies!

I did have my phone connected via btooth - but how does that work?

I suppose I should check the manual myself - but finding the appropriate text is another matter.

Sometimes its just easier to drop a line on the LOC and let the wizards respond. :hocus-pokus:

Ah then - that be it. I have ye olde Landrover clockwork SatNav as seen on ye antiques road show. (53 plate).

Many thanks to ye gentleman and ladies of great wisdom.

I have to go now and crank up the Freelander with ancient starting handle.
