Driving Lexus Gs300 In Snow And Ice

Recommended Posts

hi this is my first winter since i purchased lexus gs300 2001, never owned a RWD car before. on friday could not get lexus out of staff car park, would not move forward, a few cm of snow on ground. I had even put 2 X 20kg bags of flour in boot but to no avail. I purchased some michellin mutligrip snow chains, similar to snow socks but had chains made from tough nylon material. it was impossible to get them on even though video showed someone putting them on 3 minutes very misleading.

i am now looking at alternatives as i need car for work, looking at snow/winter tyres, are they the answer dont mind the investment if they work, as i intend to keep car for long time. does any one else have any other tips, help much appreciated. what about snow mode and VSC all this is new to me not sure what they all mean, although did put car in snow mode still could not get it to move forward in drive mode

I've got a set of winter tyres/wheels on my GS430 Sport, never hit any problems with the snow so far, and they are significantly better in the low temps as well. Definately worth the investiment IMO. Snow mode helps, and also turning off VSC can help sometimes help too.
