Have to say in all fairness mine was very good before and the same after.

39mpg around town..up to 54mpg on a good run. Don't bother with 6th gear..utterly useless unless you are doing 90+mph.

I got 32-37 before the new engine went in (which i was less than impressed with as my journey to work is 60% motorway, done 30 miles on the new engine this morning and the avg is 27 at the mo, time will tell I’m sure.

Would you go gentle on the engine to start with? Dealer told me it doesn’t make a difference but I’m sure you're supposed to keep the Revs low for the first 1000 miles?

I would read about the EGR and regular cleaning of it (every 8000 miles or so). Lots of threads here about it and vids on youtube. Easy peezy to do yourself.

Consider the use of the likes of BG244 every 10,000 miles or so, or the Bardahl equivalent.

Also consider the use of AR6200 fuel additive on each fill up. I found it helped with reduction of sooting up of the EGR. You only put in 5ml to 50 litres of fuel and it only costs pence. There is a thread here somewhere in which I gave a cost breakdown. Personally, I found it effective.

Once the car is all settled make sure you regularly give it a good run to get the engine good and hot. Need to get that DPF regenerating and get the 5th injector working. This engine does not like short runs where it does not warm up enough.
