Boot Lid Hinges

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I have an IS200 SE (2005)

Both the boot lid hinge mounting brackets which bolt to the underside of the parcel shelf need replacing. One has broken the other is cracked. Has any one done this before, it looks like I need to remove the rear seat and parcel shelf. but where do I start removing the rear seat?

You normally remove the seat base by feeling for the 2 retaining clips and then giving the base a good yank up which will unclip it at the front then pull it forward and out,you should then be able to see the seat back retaining bolts behind, remove these and then lift the seat back up and away. Parcel shelves are also normally held by clips also.

Where Steve says the back will lift up and away he means give it a proper yank upwards.

When I took mine out I thought I was going to break the thing.

I'm sure you don't have to take the seat or parcel shelf out though to replace the hinge brackets.
