Some Old Literature And Advertisement 1990 (Pics)

Recommended Posts

Some old literature and advertisement from a issue of american motor trend magazine from 1990. Bought it at a house auction in California and thought it would be of interest :)

Thanks Pete, indeed I found that interesting. It seems to me that early Lexus were so impressive that independent reviews read like Lexus' own advertisements.

However, let's not forget that they, at the same time, built for themselves a much better equipped LS400. They called it Toyota Celsior.

(I imagine, in the late eighties-early nineties, maybe even now, the Japanese would not have forgotten their historic humiliation of being defeated by the Americans, and so took the opportunity to engineer for themselves a little advantage)

It featured, among others, some cool rear armrest controls, including a removable remote control, and their relevant functions, such as heated, reclining and massaging seats, etc, and the front passenger headrest-dipping, whereby the support moves forward and downwards along a track thus tipping the headrest out of sight for the rear passenger's improved view ahead.

All very impressive to me. Wonder what extras the Japanese are reserving for themselves nowadays?

Here are a couple of pictures taken from the links (above):

Wow this i didn't know! In fact i would of thought the Celsior being a Toyota it would be the other way round, but makes sense. Ive noticed even Lexus's in the USA are less well equiped than here. I thinking Lexus were generous when trying to Launch there brand here. Great pics btw what a genius idea with the headrest
