Different Sized Tyres

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've got a Lexus IS 200 SE Auto with Standard 17" alloys. On the rear the tyres are the standard 215/45 R17 but

my front tyres are 205/45 R17.

I wanted to know if this was OK? Is it safe and will it adversely affect the car in any way?

Thanks scudney & Barney,

I just wanted to make sure it was alright with this configuration. When I got the front tyres the garage I went to probably didn't

know the standard size. After a while i noticed they had put 205s on because the rear axle had a 205 on one side and a 215 on the other!

God knows how it passed the MOT with different sizes on the same axle. Obviously I don't go to the garage that put the rear tyres on anymore.

That's a strange one then, nothing wrong with two 205's on front and two 215's on rear though, you would also have thought garage that fitted three would have noticed and mentioned it to you.
