AFTER 45K MILES MY DASH LIT UP AND SIRENS RANG SHOWING WARNINGS ON TRACTION BRAKES ETC. I TOOK IT TO LEXUS DEALER WHO WOULD LOOK AT IT (LEXUS CHESTER WOULDN'T) AND WAS ADVISED IT WAS THE VSC UNIT WHICH WAS FAULTY. I WAS ADVISED IT WAS PROBABLY A CHIP BUT IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. A NEW VSU WAS ABOUT £1700. FORTUNATELEY I FOUND A REPLACEMENT A LOT LESS. IS THIS A COMMON PROBLEM?(1) DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF THE OLD ! UNIT CAN BE SORTED.(2)

Not heard of this problem before.

As for repairing it. It depends if the thing can be taken apart for a start. Should be able to do component testing against common devices (transistors, logic ICs etc) but if there is a problem with a custom chip or a programmable device then you wouldn't be able to get the replacement part. Worth a go though as it's an expensive device.
