Lexus Uk Web Site - "negotiate On This Car". Any Experience?

Recommended Posts

Some (but not all) of the second-hand cars advertised on the Lexus UK web site have a "negotiate on this car" button next to them.

I am trying to understand when you would use this. My previous experience is that, if you find a car that you like, you go and view it and take it for a test drive, and then you try to negotiate the best deal with the salesman or salewoman.

Do people just shop over the internet to find a car with the right spec and then (almost like eBay) make a "Best Offer" using this button, without ever having seen or driven the car? Or do they drive the car and then use the web site to negotiate the price, rather than doing it face-to-face?

Also, does anybody have any experience as to what sort of discount the dealers will accept? Or does it all depend on how desirable the car is, how long they have had it in stock for, etc?

Also, also - are the dealers willing to negotiate on things like 2 years warranty rather than 1?

Also, also, also - are dealer cars brought up to a high standard? I had a test drive in a dealer car which had a few small dents/marks - could I assume that these would be dealt with (as is my previous experience with BMW and Porsche) or is it a case of "what you see is what you get"?

So much to learn ...

All Lexus cars will be to a very good standard. If its less than that, they will have to fix it at no cost to yourself.

Some people just buy a car without seeing it and the negotiate button is for that. However, there is really no point in using it as you can put pressure on them as much as its not face to face. You simply put a price down and thats the end of that.
