2005 Gs300 Feels Shaky & Juddering When Idling & Reversing

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I would love some ideas as to what is wrong with my 2005 Lexus GS 300.

It started and worked fine this morning. Got back home, I put it into reverse and it started to be really juddery and shaky. Parked in my drive and it was the same in both Park, Reverse and Drive with erratic revs from 500-1000 when idling.

It is in need of a service. Could this be the problem or does it sound like something more sinister?

Any ideas as to what to do or what it is, would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Neil

Newbie here and only just started reading up about these fine cars before buying, but I gather there's some ECU fault affecting the early Mk3 GS. Hope I'm wrong, and you're sorted soon!

it sounds like it isn't running on all cylinders correctly but there could be a number of things causing the issue. Faulty plug, coil pack, injector, dirty throttle body, MAF sensor, air leak etc.

Once it has cooled down see if the problem still exists, it may be an intermittent problem.

Being due for a service isn't going to cause the issue, services are nothing more than fluid changes these days they don't prevent issues like this from occurring.

What is the mileage of your vehicle?
