06 Ls430 Cambelt Change Intervals

Hi chaps

Quick question, my ls430 is eight years old now but has only done 45000 miles.

I'm really struggling to find a definitive answer to the above question. Most seem to agree that the mileage change is 100,000 but there seems to be some debate as to whether the time of the intervals is 6 or 10 years.

Does anyone have access to a lexus service manual to clear this question up?

Many thanks

Mark

I'd welcome an answer too. My LS430 has done only 89000; some say 100,000, others say act early and do it soon. One of the 430's I nearly bought had had a new belt at 100,000, and the owner used that fact as a selling point.

I'd be amazed if it isn't simply 10 years / 100,000 miles ....... and take a miniscule chance on it all going pear shaped if you don't strictly adhere to these parameters :tomato:

Reading other posts about the earlier Mk 1, 2 and 3 Ls400s where 63k is the stipulated figure ( apart from in the USA where it's 100k ( now ain't that dopey :zorro: ) ) ................ I would feel comfortable with those Mks being left to 100k too .... as is the stipulated figure for the Mk4 Ls400 :whistling: .

Mine was replaced at 5.5 years and 90K by the Lexus garage I bought it from, they highlighted the fact at the negotiation stage. I suspect it'll need doing again next year if my current work mileage continues.... still running smoothly! ;)

Had the conversation with the service manager at lexus reading recently and he assures me that 100,000 miles or 10 years is the recommended interval and totally adequate.

Incidentally I know lexus maindealer service costs have a deserved reputation for being on the steep side but the all round experience is very pleasant right from the greeting as you walk through the door.

........ quite agree, the very best coffee service too ....... and it's only a few £00's a cup .................... and they also wash your car someone told me :whistling:

Nonetheless, it's quality marketing and customer service ( generally ) ... and my only limited personal experience of Lexus main dealer was to buy replacement wiper rubbers and Battery ........... excellent coffee tho' and quality newspapers .......... and very expensive wiper rubbers ( and normal price Mk3 Battery ) BUT they do seem to last several times the life of other non Lexus / Toyota branded parts ...... all in all, a quality experience.

My own belt, and any pictures I've seen, look brand new after 100k miles. Changing the water pump and idlers is best done at the same time, but personally I would't worry overmuch by being a few thousand miles over the 100k, or even 10's of thousands
