Thinking Of Buying A Is250 Se Auto..is This One Priced Too High?

Recommended Posts

Hi looking to get a IS250 auto. Found 55 plate, se, multimedia with 49k miles for £5,800. FLSH recent new breaks done from Lexus. It is a private sale. Your thoughts please on if that is a fair price?

Thank you

Thanks Juicestop. Disk and pads both front and rear. Tyres too. All done by lexus in April at time of service. Car only done 3000 miles since service.

Was thinking still overpriced?

If that was me selling for £5,800 and someone offered me £5,500 I would take it. If the seller won't budge then walk away but leave your phone number so he can contact you if he changes his mind. Chances are your offer will be accepted.

HI, When you say multimedia are you meaning sat nav, reverse camera, Mark Levinson etc? Also what interior does it have leather or cloth?

If it is all the things above and leather I would say £5800 seems quite fair, however as previously mentioned I would suspect the buyer would drop £300 to get shot of it.

Sounds like it is certainly worth a test drive. If you have never owned a Lexus before or driven an IS250 it should be a very pleasant experience.

I am sure you already know this but just watch out for any unusual noises. These cars are normally very quiet compared to other makes so any funny engine noises should be investigated.

As most people have mentioned they also have an issue with the caliper pins sticking, so make sure the brakes feel good. If it has a FLSH it should be fine but worth asking the owner if he had any issues in the past.

The 60k service is also a big one, so while your car has not reached that mileage yet, it will have reached the age where that service should have been completed regardless of mileage so check it has been done in the service book. It can cost up to £600 at Lexus because it involves spark plugs etc so if it has not been completed knock money off.

Finally put on the ML stereo at some point in the test drive because it is an absolute joy and I doubt you will have heard a better factory fitted system in a car.

Good luck

Agree cidersteve. Thanks Bobby for the great advice. Much appreciated. Yes test driven one before and this one.

You will be pleased to hear I am the proud owner of a Lexus! Got it for 5700. Has had the 60k service done by Lexus.

Very smooth drive, looking forward to driving it. Think it is a better drive than BMW e46 coupe...(which I need to sell)

On the only thing I am struggling to use is the rear camera, I.e how much distance to I have before I will hit the wall at the back, just cant work that out. Sadly become over reliant on parking sensors.

Yes the Lexus has so much as standard that you would have to pay for as extras on other marques. It will take a little time but you'll get used to the rear camera. Does yours have the red line at the back? That is the rear bumper, so use that as a guide and you'll be fine. Its also slightly over generous so you get an extra few cms past the line before you'd hit something.

Thanks juicestop.I think it does, will check, just parked up, using my BMW until it is sold.

Yes so much standard equipment and the engine is soo quite. Glad I didn't go for diesel, wanted a auto and have to say v smooth, wanted the pleasure of hearing the V6 every day, but it sounds like a normalncar...no v6 roar:-(

Yes the petrol auto box is definitely the one, the diesel is not as good and many on this forum have reported problems. When you do get to drive the car on a clear straight road put your foot down, you'll hear the V6 roar, it sounds more refined than most V6s but it definitely roars!
