Lexus Original Stereo's - Whats Compatable?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, Ive recently bought a 1999 T reg IS200 and the CD changer has the Error 3 code which I believe is terminal for the changer. Ive been trying to find a replacement but all Im finding are newer ones with a slightly different button layout and different code number on the front. Will they still work without changing all the wiring? Or do I need one with the same code as my old one?

Is there a list of which are compatable and which are not anywere?

Any help would be good.

Thanks.

Nick.

As far as i know its like for like on the numbers mate, what number do you have as there's a few people on here who many have their old one with the same number kicking about their garage or shed?

Also on a different matter Lexus them selves are looking for a first year is200, so yours maybe in with a good chance of being the oldest one about!

Thanks for the info, yeah thats what I thought about the stereo. The number on it is 13902. I found one on eBay and won the auction but the seller never sent it so Im in the process of getting a refund although I'd rather have the cd player!

I dont really want to retro fit a different stereo as I'd like to keep the original amp as the sound quality of component speakers through an amp is much better. Unless there is a to re-wire the standard amp to the external amp sockets on a seperate stereo is there?

Im not sure the exact build date or first registration without looking at the logbook but its generally pretty clean and original. Ive just put a Japspeed exhaust system on it and possibly thinking of lowering it too but it depends if I end up using it as a drift car or not really.
