With the recent restrictions on posting on line pics(apparently i was guilty of this) recently!!

does this even apply to an image loaded from another site(as i did) rather than uploading

to gallery as it has been suggested to me that doing it this way does not effect the clubs

bandwidth.

Anyone like to comment.......

I can clarify that for you Pete ;)

In-line images are reloaded every time someone views the thread - not just the first time they view it - but every time, whether they 'look' at it or not - there are two reasons why this can be a 'bad thing'

1 - When the image is hosted in our gallery, then it does indeed consume a lot of bandwidth. This costs us money  . The last time we did a 'what are the stats for ALL the clubs' exercise, we had used more than 100 gigabytes of bandwidth.

2 - Even if the images are hosted somewhere else, if they are largish images, then people who use a dial up connection really struggle to load a thread and read it. This can really spoil their enjoyment of the site, especially as with inlines, they have no control over whether they view that picture or not. With a link, they can control whether or not they choose to view it.

In your particular case Pete, the image of the lady who'se thong had it's own postcode was 130k - this would take around 25 seconds to download on dial-up - not too nice.

The french ladies thong was significantly smaller ( :P ) - but it would be silly to leave one and change the other.

does this help mate?

Images held on other servers does help LOC bandwidth however the main issue is with our members that use a dial-up Internet connection. Inline images cause them to have a very long load time for pages. A much better solution is to have links so that if a member wants to look at the image they can.
