Just Done What Lexus Should've Done In The First Place!

Recommended Posts

Ever since owning my ls400 ive had the usual leaky boot, i swapped the seal to a new one and all was well, the boot stayed dry... that is, until you opened it after a night of rain! I park on an incline and so if its been raining the water gathers between the wing edge and the boot seal, when you then open the boot the gathered water now overflows over the seal and into the boot.

So I decided to add 2 drainage points (one either side of the boot) from the top of the boot lip down through the floor, I drilled a hole about 1.5mm smaller than my silicone hose (so it would be water tight) squeezed the hose in and put it through one of the existing boot floor grommets.

So now the water goes straight down the hosing and out of the boot, it should in theory keep the boot seal in better condition too as its not constantly soaked!
