Electrics / Battery / Immobiliser Issue - Help!

Hi all,

Have an issue at the moment with my lexus IS 200 (03) and have no idea what the problem is.

I went away over the Xmas period and on my return my lexus Battery seemed to be completely dead.

As soon as i attached jump leads it started straight away. I left it running for a couple of hours and took it for a drive thinking it would be okay. The next few times I tried to start it I had the same problem. When i put the keys in the ignition, all my dash lights would come on (inc radio etc.), however when i turned the key to start everything cut dead - and I also heard a short beeping sound, maybe 8 beeps, coming from somewhere to the rear of the car???

I decided to replace the Battery, hoping this would resolve the issue. unfortunately it didnt i had the same problem but not every time i started the car. it was 50/50 if it would start.

I noticed that if I tried to start it and it went dead again (and getting the beeps), if I got out of the car, used the central locking to lock and then unlock the car, this would reset the issue and let me try again (all lights come on etc.) - sometimes successfully, sometimes not. (If I turn the ignition just as the radio comes on I am usually okay - but not all ways!).

Now on some occasions if it did not work, i would get out and the central locking wouldnt even work.

With a bit of fiddling, I found that if I disconnected the Battery and left it for a minute and then reconnected, the car would start first time for me!!!?

However, when i come to start it again, im back to square one and more often than not the lights come on, i turn full ignition, I get the beeping sound, and then its pot luck if i am able to lock/unlock the car from outside with the key central locking - and have another go, or if this is not responsive I have to unhook the Battery again!

Does anybody have any ideas at all on this weird issue? Could this be something to do with the immobiliser (hence the beeps?).

From what i can tell the Battery and alternator is fine, theres something that is tripping it somehow maybe?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Dan

Hi Lance, Apologies for the delay in coming back to you.

Yes, the immobiliser 'security' light flashed when I get in the car, when I put the keys in the light stops flashing.

I'm guessing this issue must be down to a faulty connection somewhere?

I have the exact same problem. Did you ever get it resolved?
