I have been trying to transfer my phonebook details into the system of my 220d. I had the engine running as per the manual and the screen was showing exactly what the book says it should but, I sat with the engine running for 17 minutes and still the screen didn't tell me that it was either succesful or that it had failed.

I haven't got that many numbers in my phonebook so surely it shouldn't take that long to do. I'm sure that lots of you will have done this procedure so I am wondering what is a normal span of time for it to do the transfer.

I am using an apple Iphone 3GS and have no problems with the Bluetooth connection each time that I get in the car.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Not all phones will transfer phonebook data into the Lexus system - mine doesn't.

There used to be (and it may still exist) a list of fully compatible phones on the Lexus website. I can't remember where in the site, only that it was hard to find. It is probably easier to phone a Lexus Dealership & ask.

I copied my phonebook into a friends discarded compatible phone & then into the IS to avoid doing it manually.

Hello fjcfarrer, Looks like this might be a problem then. I'm off to Lincoln for a few days tomorrow so I'll have a look into it when I get back. Your idea of copying to a compatible phone sounds like a good idea. Thanks for your input.

Edit: I have just been reading on the Lexus website, about Bluetooth connectivity and it mentions, in respect of iphones, that if it has a 'hotspot' facility, then this must be enabled. I am absolutely no good with pc and phone technology so do not know what this means.

I am just wondering if enabling such a 'hotspot' would be of any assistance in transferring the 'contact data'.

Anyone know what a 'hotspot' is? In the words of Michael Barrymore, I know what a hotspots not!!! Sorry!
