My Audi came with a key like this. The only problem is it sometimes opens in my pocket due to accidently pushing the button when I move. Kind of defeats the fold up feature :duh: The Lexus ones button is in a recess so it may be better. IanB :D

Nice one Geoffers. This brings back memories of my school days, when you could have fun without a conscience. I know several teachers, and when I hear some of the goings on at school, I wonder how they can ever get on with their jobs. Their hands are tied, and the educational establishment seems to be petrified of getting sued! It's even got to the state where increasingly teachers won't take kids on trips any more, because of the worry about the fallout if a pupil gets injured. Not worth the hassle I hear them say. And this is a rural secondary school :o IanB :D

I've had to sell my GS purely for practical reasons (I needed a large estate). I've ended up with the Audi A6, not because I particularly wanted one, but because it had all the features I was looking for, and was big enough for my wheechair, etc. in the back. My GS really spoiled me and limited my choices, since most estates just don't have all the classy features that Lexus supplies as standard. Mind you, the Audi is superb and the quattro drive gives me peace of mind :) :) IanB :D

I agree with Jamboo. Hybrids are to my mind a gimick which try to attract the green lobby, but don't do that that effectively. Nice to drive (the GS) but that's all really. If batteries could be made much smaller and lighter then perhaps a hybrid might be more practical, but I'm more than happy to stay with the good old combustion engine for the forseeable future. Just wait for the next proper, technological leap (fuel cells maybe?) IanB :D

My Audi is a 4x4 and I just know it's going to be better in the snow than any of my previous RWD Lexii. But then I live in the NE of Scotland in the country...... IanB :D

Mine had mudflaps which came with the car. I've only got a picture of the front, and the car's gone now so no rear picture. Car used to get muddy though, so I don't think they were very effective. Cheers, IanB :D

I agree, Derek's very helpful. Top bloke. It's worth joining for the other discounts too. Shame about the apparent secrecy, but it's worth it for servicing alone if you like using main dealers, and the rest is gravy! One health warning though. I think there are still a few LEX dealers in the UK who don't give club discounts, but you'd best ask the moderators if you are unsure. Cheers, IanB :D

Not so happy with the Lexus sat nav. I had it on my GS but it wasn't as intuitive to use as my old Tom Tom. With my new Audi, it's even worse, even after going through the manual several times :tsktsk: . Bluetooth phone system is much better though. Reads all the numbers on my phone and sim card without me having to do anything other than just link up the phone. Lexus should do that.......... Cheers, IanB :D

Hi Ian D. Welcome to the club. I'm sure you will get at least as much enjoyment and help from the LOC as I have over the past few years. Must be something about being an Ian! I've had 3 Lexii, including an IS300 Sportcross which I really liked. I've had to defect recently due to a problem with my legs, but my heart still lies with the Lexus mark. I've also been a keen biker for most of my 55 years until my recent disability problems. Also 2 of my sons ride CBR600's and my 3rd son has owned a couple in the past, so good choice. Never owned one myself or a VFR, but I know how good they are. Best Honda I ever had was a Fireblade, an early RRN. What a stonking bike! Toss up between that and my Ducati 888 for accolade of best bike, but they were just so different. Not necessarily for touring though, although the Blade was pretty comfy despite my 5 foot 10 frame. I too went through a divorce years ago, but I'm happy to report that second time around everything is perfect :) :) :) Hope you get what you want in the future. Good luck. IanB :D

Well my GS and I have parted company! I really didn't want to get rid of it, but my increasing disability meant I had to change it for a large estate. As Lexus don't do one, and I'm not a fan of the RX, I had to look elsewhere. I've settled on an Audi A6 Allroad, which fits the bill nicely, It's the 2.7 TDi auto which is really smooth, and suits me fine now as it's higher, which makes it easier for me to climb out of. The hand controls fitted are really good too, even better than those on the GS. As you can see mine doesn't have the contrasting coloured trim, which I think looks better. All the FWD advantages, without looking like a Chelsea tractor! Here's a picture:- Just because I don't have a Lexus now, it won't stop me keeping tabs on the LOC. It's too much fun! Cheers, IanB :D
