  1. Just a thought, have you tried turning the brightness control down. It's located to the left side of the steering wheel. If it is turned up all the way, it will stay bright at night. The display should then go black at night from memory. Mark
  2. Hi there, Just had a test drive in a GS300 the other day. I must say I was disappointed on two counts: 1. The road noise, bearing in mind this car is advertised as being very quiet 2. The number of rattles from the dash and rear sun blind. I didn't expect this from a Lexus. I currently drive a RX400, and I am thinking of possibly changing to a GS450h, so I know that a test drive of a GS300 wasn't exactly ideal, but it gave me a good idea of what to expect in terms of fit and finish and interior space. Are these things normal within the GS range? The salesman tried to blame the trade plate on the dashboard and has offered me a test drive in another car, I'm now not sure what to do... Can any GS owner out there reassure me? Thanks.
  3. Hi, Have you thought about an RX400? You get a 2% discount of the already low CO2 tax figure as it's a Hybrid. I changed my 35% tax band car for one last year and it's great. :)
  4. I have to agree with most here. I'm getting around 30-32mpg in various driving conditions and considering the performance and the low emissions, to me that's about as good as it gets. I run my car as a company car, and almost without exception any other 4x4 would mean top rate 35% car tax, the RX400h is currently at 27% so there really wasn't any competition.
  5. Hi there, well just over 6 months into my RX400h ownership and I was wondering what other owners thought of their purchase. Would you buy another one? For me I'm very happy with mine, just a couple of niggles - the seatbelt buzzer drives me mad and not being able to enter destinations in the Sat Nav while moving (I know I'm not on my own on these two points!) I suppose that's not bad if that's the only thing wrong with it. Would I buy another...? Well only time will tell but at the moment the answer would be yes. What about everyone else?
  6. No it didn't work, I guess these "little tricks" are not allowed on UK cars
  7. I'll give this a try as this drives me mad!!! Do you have to keep pressing the odometer button while turning the engine on or is it just one press? Does this also turn off the passenger side as well? Thanks
  8. I have to say that the service I received when I picked up my new RX400h from Lexus Birmingham was 1st class. Although when I got the car there where no freebies, the salesman gave me the Lexus Collection booklet to look at and choose a few items. Also about a couple of days later I received some lovely flowersfor my wife, and true to their word, a week or so later my wife had a lovely new Lexus 5 in 1 Jacket and the kids had new teddy bears all from the collection booklet. Whenever I have dealt with them, both the service dept (battery was dead on remote control for rear DVD - replaced FOC) or just popping in to the showroom to say hello to the salesman, everyone seems to know my name and can't do enough to help. I even received a call the following day asking if the service received for fitting my remote battery was to my liking! This is my first Lexus and I am very impressed with the service I'm getting. :)

  10. Has anyone been able to set this on their RX, where the doors lock when you drive off and then unlock when you engage park? The US forum shows a routine on how to set this yourself but as yet I can't seem to get it to work on my car!
  11. Well I know what I would prefer to be in. My Father-in-Law has the Merc and it just doesn't compare in anyway to my RX400 Mark
  12. Tim, If you are still looking to buy a secondhand Lexus talk to this guy (he is the best in the UK!) John Hayfield Tel 01543 481755 email jh@hayfields.co.uk web www.hayfields.co.uk I'm sure he will be able to help you. All the best Mark Biggs
  13. Sorry to hear of your problem with the 400h - it's a real pity as it takes the "shine" off your new car . I'm sure your baby will be back in good health soon! Luckily I haven't had any problems with mine so far. Interesting comment about the fuel consumption though - I'm currently getting mid to low 30's in mine, which is great but I didn't buy it for that reason. Don't you just love the "mid-range" pull in the 400h - it gives great overtaking ability at any speed? What colour did you go for? Mark
  14. Patrick, I have one in Stafford Blue. I'll try and get a few photos taken this weekend and post them up on the site next week. Mark
  15. Hi everyone, I just wanted to report on my first 1000 miles in my new RX400h. I've had the car for a couple of weeks now and I am 100% satisfied with it. I bought it from Lexus Birmingham, Stafford Blue with Black leather (I had no choice on the colour scheme as it was a cancelled order) and despite my reservations as to the lack of colour contrast, it actually works really well especially with the blacked out standard windows. The glass sunroof (sorry moonroof) lets a good deal of light in and the silver trim also adds to lighten the interior as well as looking quite smart. Last weekend I drove up to Fife in Scotland (St. Andrews area) and back (750 miles round trip). The car was so comfortable (no aches or pains) I could have quite easily not stopped enroute except for the fact I needed the loo and the car needed petrol! I averaged 34.6mpg doing a "steady" 70mph. My pal could not believe the performance and comfort mix (he drives a new 730d series BMW) as well as the quiteness - I'm sure this car is as quiet at 40mph as at 80mph! I lost count of the number of people who stopped me to talk about the car (when parking especially) and did I need to charge it up every night! The kids love the DVD player in the back, I'm going to try to hook it up to the PS2 tonight - I'll let you know how I get on. My advsie to anyone thinking about having one of these fantasic cars is definately go for one - this is quite simply the most advanced car in the world at present and you won't be disappointed. :D Mark
  16. I only picked my car up yesterday and the salesman at Lexus B'ham actually told me that Sony/Ericsson phoned worked better than any other.
  17. Hi, I'm a new member and I have just read your detailed review of the RX400h - it looks a fantastic car. I get mine tomorrow and I just can't wait! Hope to speak to you all agian soon. Mark
