  1. I have also ordered (so I am told) the best Battery Charger/Conditioner availabe at present, the Accumate 6/12v Battery Conditioner/Charger..

You could also look at one of these - I have one and can thoroughly recommend them.

They actually take the Battery through 7 levels of charge automatically whilst constantly monitoring the internal resistance of the Battery and adjusts the charge current accordingly.

    The charge stages are:

    1. Desulphation

    2. Soft start

    3. Bulk

    4. Absorbtion

    5. Test

    6. Recondition

    7. Float

    Cheers

  2. .... If anyoner out there has found any improvements with this problem I would love to know how to improve this dreadful design problem

AGM Battery???? - You will easily find one that has bags more power than anything in the standard form factor. In fact one with the same rating as the RX (70ah) will only be around 2/3rds the size. The crank current will probably be around double that of anything you find in the high street and the discharge recovery is second to none.

  3. You're right !!

Sat 19th December for my region has wind speeds of 312mph !!!

That's worrying considering ......... "On May 3, 1999 as tornadoes ravaged Oklahoma scientist measured the highest recorded wind speed at about 7:00 p.m. near Moore, Oklahoma. A wind speed of 318 mph was recorded where a tornado killed four people and destroyed 250 homes.

The fastest wind measured prior was 286 mph on April 26, 1991 in a tornado near Red Rock, Oklahoma.

The 318 mph speed placed the tornado 1 mph below an F6 on the 0 to 6 Fujita scale. No tornado has ever been classified as an F6"

I'd best get the windows boarded up !! (After I've adjusted my TV aerials)

  4. or you can only take your car to pre-defined garages as described by your insurance company?

No - I have been through this before..... You have the right to take your car to the repairer of your choosing, you DO NOT have to accept whatever cowboy outfit your insurers chose because they are cheap ! They will try and fob you off with all sorts of excuses and crap about we can't guarantee this and that and you can't have a courtesy car unless you take it to 'Hack-it-and-bodge-it of Chipping Ongar etc...... Just remind them it's YOUR car and you have the right to chose the repairers of your choice.

I have had this argument with Admiral (bunch of cowboys in my opinion) and ultimately said "I'm not arguing any more - lets sort this out in court".... They agreed to my choice of repairer and I got a courtesy car no problem (most good repairers will offer a car while yours is in for repair at their facility anyway)

  5. EXACTLY AS IT SHOULD BE !!

Unfortunately all too often in this country we are subject to c%*p customer service and an apathetic attitude from companies. I spend a lot of time in the States and deal with the US on a daily basis...... Oh.. how we could learn from their customer service. The trouble is I don't think we will EVER get to their level of service or attitude when dealing with customer complaints.

It is the exception rather than the rule in the UK to get decent customer service... Well done Tom Tom. :winky:

Over here the customer is a necessary nuisance to keep the company afloat........

Rant over - Now where did I put my passport so I can get back to The States ??....

  6. Hi

The paint is coming off with a pressure washer

    Cheers

Well it will !!???.... Never EVER... EVER use a pressure washer on the paintwork of a car (nor on the sidewall of tyres for that matter). Pressure washers are meant for cleaning patios and outside furniture, driveways and the like.

I have a super billion psi Karcher washer but it never has and never will go anywhere near my car.

  7. You'd better sit down when they give you the estimate for replacement !!

Think mine was somewhere around £485 plus VAT (and maybe even plus fitting) but as I say I didn't care as it was under warranty.

paulmcg....Nope.... You're not going mad, trouble is on mine it was so infrequent it would have been impossible for the dealer to replicate it unless he kept the car for a couple of months !!

  8. It's a fault with the door mirror assembly. I had mine (passenger door) replaced under warranty 2 years ago and the problem has never returned.

Mine was dipping when you popped it in reverse (as it should do) - but wasn't returning every time when you engaged drive. It was very difficult to replicate as 9 times out of ten it would behave correctly.

Lexus Sheffield replaced mine and everythings been fine ever since.

  9. DON'T start me on lane dicipline.... No...No... just don't !!!

We can't drive over here. I have no idea why but the majority of the population find it:

    1) impossible to stay between two painted lines on the road (be that on a roundabout or a curve on a multi lane road)

    2) find it impossible to move over from the middle lane (on a three lane motorway) once they have overtaken a vehicle in the either the 2nd or 3rd lane.

Compare this with say The Netherlands where (most of the time) drivers overtake and then move back into the nearside lane.

I so wish that they would introduce the US sytem of legal undertaking and also make it legal to turn (in this country it would have to be left) on a red light.

    No....no.... don't start me off... please don't !!!! :tsktsk:

  11. if you go by the guides and the dealer hype the car should retain 55% of its value over 3 years, to loose £1000 per month is a ridiculous amount to loose on a car.

I NEVER worry what a dealer offers me for my old car!! - I wait for them to do their sharp intake of breath and then shake their head and then get their guide out and then say "Yada, yada, blah, blah, of course these don't sell as well as they used to, blah, blah, etc, etc". then when they've finished and they offer me X thousand under what it's worth I just say "I don't care to be honest - You can give my £1 for if you want to take it off my hands"

I then 'explain' what sort of discount I am expecting off the new one. If they don't play ball, I turn around and walk out.

The last car I purchased (before this one), the dealer eventually phoned me up and said, and I quote "What do I have to do to get you to order this car on the phone now?"..... I was then interested !!!

So, (for me anyway), I really take no notice of the cobblers the dealers come out with on trade in price as it makes no difference at the end of the day if the deal is right on the new one.

  12. Hi, Has anyone had problems with the mirror adjustment motors failing? I'm just about to have my second mirror fitted. Same failt each time, the driver's side won't adjust up and down (goes in/out ok though). The garage said this is a common fault but I can't find anyone talking about it.

I had my passenger door mirror replaced under warranty due to it dipping when you pop the car in reverse but intermittently it didn't come back up again when moved to N or D. Problem has not returned since it was replaced. This was on a GS by the way.

    Cheers

    Mark

  13. Ditto Aido's comments - Gary and Chris at Sheffield will look after you! They have serviced my GS from new and I have NEVER had any quibbles over their quality of service or their prefessionalism...... (I'll say that because I KNOW Gary reads these posts and my GS is due for a service next month !!!!! :winky: )

And in answer to your question re rear Sun Blind.... YES, its comes as standard.

    The Ed.
