  1. Thats a shame, it would be nice if someone did attempt it and the moment they are out of a certain range the car stops, then I could have them! Over and over and over again! Thanks for the information though....
  2. Can anyone tell me, if I get out of my IS250 with the key in my pocket and the engine running it starts to pip at me to say it can not detect the key, if someone then gets into my car to nick it, will it stop working if they try and pull away? I got out of my car and left the key in the kitchen whilst I backed mine into the garage and it let me, is this right?
  3. Whilst we are on noises, has anyone here had this noise in their new IS. I had a ticking, a little bit like something was caught in the air vent being tossed around, but I turned off all the air conditioning system and it is still there and appears to be related to the road movement. I can approximate it to a static "tick!" noise coming from the middle of the dash board. Any ideas? Sorry for going off the subject of the window shapes, but it seems this thread has, well, lost the thread a bit.
  4. Another thing you should consider, from a different angle, if you were done on Double or Single yellow lines, the lines must be complete to be enforceable, that also includes going over drain covers (each grill must be painted). Also, they must have a bar at each end. If any of the paint or bar is missing, the line(s) are not enforceable. Get a picture of the lines and if there are any breaks, you are free! :) Trust me on this I have this information on good authority
  5. I love the shape of the new one, really nice, love the small windows! My only gripe is that stinking Air Bag On light that is permanently lit up, the amazing dash, beautiful full screen display for all your in car needs and then a stinking back lit air bad on symbol! Everyone who gets in my car says, whats that for, why is it lit up? So tempted to pull the bulb, if I could figure out how to get behind there, but then at my next service I may end up with a bill for a new air bag as they thought it failed or something stupid like that.
  6. Well what can I say, I had to sell my IS200 due to financial and personal reasons, always regretted it as I ended up in a Peugeot Diesel Estate car! but now I am back and have treated myself to a new IS250.... Had lots of nice cars and this baby wins hands down, smooth, quiet, plenty of oomf for the roads today, stylish, really really chuffed... Now I have a Lexus again, I decided to come joineth the Lexus Owners Club forum once again. So hello to you all, hope all is well... Here are some pics, although I am sure there are billions on this site already - My Baby
  7. In light of the new IS250 being released, what price would you think reasonable for a 2004 (registered 2005) IS200SE Nav & full beige leather with 2k on the clock? ← Well on the basis mine is 8000 miles, one year old, mint!!! I have just traded it in for an estate car, which I am not going to tell you the make to avoid all the ribbing! And I was offered 12k for it!!! 12 stinking K!!!! I advertised it at £14,995 ono and would have taken 14.5k and did not get a single call. These cars have depreciated something terrible!!! However saying that, it is approaching Xmas and the new model has just come out, so who knows, sales may pick up in time, but I doubt it.... Be prepared to lose some cash buddy, I just bit the bullet and went for it, managed to get £13,250 on the trade in and I think the garage was being generous to close the sale.
  8. Well guys, I am down to £15k now for a 1year old IS200 and not a single stinking call! I wonder if it is the time of year..... Our new Doberman arrives in a few weeks time, I need to get an estate car pretty quick! :s
  9. Well to be honest I think I am going to keep mine and use it until the warranty runs out, I have another 2 years left on the car, so I may as well make the most of it..... I want a scooby again, miss my old one.... :(
  10. Convince yourselves all you like guys..... :duh: I am trying to sell mine at the moment and am making a huge loss!! Dealers are selling these, 54 and 05 plate models for under £16k now! With next to no miles on the clock. I have mine at the price recommended by parkers and the dealers and still have had no phone calls......
  11. I think you'll be in for a shock unless you managed to get a hell of a bargain. ← £16,995ono ???
  12. Guys, I am thinking about selling my IS200SE, '54 plate with 7500 miles on the clock, now the new one is coming out, what do you think mine would be worth? No Sat Nav, No center arm rest, but everything else.... Have they de-valued now the new one is on the way? thanks :)
  13. Yes, just stick it in "Drive" and forget it. Or put it in "Manual" and you have a clutchless manual gearbox with changes operated through the buttons. There is also a power setting for extra oomph if you want it. ← Guys, the 330 has no gear selection on the steering wheel, you flick the gear knob left to go into sport/manual mode and push the gear forward to go down a gear and backward to go up a gear and it changes at the normal auto rate. The buttons on the steering wheel are for the radio and cruise control only. You can accelerate/deccelerate the car with the buttons when in cruise mode.
  14. I had this outside a pub, the bloomin car would not unlock, so I used the key which set off the alarm, then my key thing worked, I went to Lexus to have the battery looked at in the key and they said it was probably interference around the location I was parked.
  15. I have to say I have only ever had one auto, BMW 330Ci - lovely motor and really accelerated well - BMW 330Ci I have no idea why the manual car exsists any more, modern auto's will change gear better than your average driver. And having driven an auto Nissan 200SX Turbo, I was gobsmacked how well that went. The auto kept the turbo pressure in all the way, where as I am sure if I were changing gear I would probably drop out of turbo pressure on each gear change, but then again, I am not that good a driver. However, saying that, the only time the auto caught me out in the BMW was when I rolled up to a roundabout for example, probably in second gear, I would see a small gap to nip out onto the round about, floor it and the car would have that split second where it has to think about dropping a gear, then giving me the power. In my panic I would floor it and hold it too long vvvvVVVVV! loads of power, so I am then hard on the brakes. It is my own stupid fault, but some mornings through a lack of concentration, the auto would not do quite what I wanted.... Apart from that, I wish I had gone for the IS300 auto now. On paper there seemed so little difference in power I thought I would take the more economical route, hence getting a new IS200. Ah well....
  16. Hmmm, rumble, i had this.... I only ever had it in 6th gear at around 3 - 4k rpm, no other time, if I dip the clutch or change into 5th gear it goes, only happened in 6th. I can only approximate the sound to a prop shaft rumble. Anyway, long story short it was my gear box which they replaced and now the horrible bass drumming noise has gone. My better halfs IS200 does it as well, again, only in 6th. The Lexus inspector who test drove the car to verify such an expensive warranty claim said he had a few of these in and the gear boxes tollerances were very fine in 6th gear and I had one that was out by 3! 3 what? I don't know, but mine was out 3. So he got me a fully tested box which is 0 so I now have a rumble free gear box of 0, what ever that means. There you go...... :)
  17. Guys, I am looking for the Sat Nav DVD, assuming there is one, do you know where it is located? Thanks Is there any consequences of removing it temporarily?
  18. Thanks guys, I will have to get me one of them! :)
  19. Guys, I have spoken to a couple of dealers about getting a centre arm rest fitted on my car and they both said it can not be done as the whole centre console needs replacing, Is there any alternative that looks acceptable? Thanks
  20. Would you believe we do sometimes get mail for Number 4!!!!
  21. No its Antinomy.... It is nice and comes up beautifully when cleaned. B)
  22. When I first said hello to you all, there were some request for pictures of my car, so here they are! :) What can I say, I went to buy a top quality IS200, got on so well with the customer services lady I ended up falling in love and getting engaged to her. Here are our cars, both 54 plate models, my fiancees is a fully spec'd model :P but as I keep reminding her, mine has nice glow in the dark kick plates, who needs sat nav...... Have a peak - Lexus IS200
  23. My car is going in Wednesday as I no longer seem to have a drip drip drip under my car when the aircon is running, I believe this should be happening so I called the garage who asked if my passenger foot well was dry???? Anyone had this happen to them, whats the cause and is it an easy fix? It is all under warranty so I am not too worried......
