  1. I must admit, I have had some pretty seriously quick motors and the launch of the IS250 auto is very good! It really gets off the mark, but I find myself warning the passengers if I feel the urge.... I also get moaned at for cr4p driving, which should not be possible with an auto. Now my Fireblade I can understand people getting upset about the launch, LOL!!
  2. Now why did I not think of that, a leather wallet!! Thanks Jamboo
  3. Well I have done it, I knew this would happen despite my precautions with the key. I managed to accidently open my windows at some point this morning by pressing my unlock button, went out for my lunch and my car and the seats are soaking wet!!!! :( I called my Lexus dealer and said is there any way this annoying feature can be disabled and there is, so I am booked in to have it switched off. The dealer also said there a loads of options you can have turned on and off on these cars now. To have this feature turned off is going to be charged at .2 hours labour £22 +VAT to get that done! One nice thing is the doing the windows up feature is seperate, so I get to keep that one and lose the undoing option. I asked if he has had lots of cars in with this and they have, especially women where they leave their keys in their handbags! I feel it should be default to off!
  4. Yeah, one of my ex girlfriends used to be a centre host at a Lexus garage and she told me on the IS200 they were rejecting warranty claims as people were using CDr's in their cars! These were warranty jobs where they had jammed the changer however.
  5. I notice quite a few of you are talking about using burnt CDs in the car, is it not still a case that Lexus void your warranty on the media system if they CD changer jams when you have a burnt CD in it?? I prefered burning disks in case I was broken into and I did not want to lose my originals, however, I was put off when I found out my warranty would be voided! So I brought an ipod instead.
  6. I have the Auto IS250 and I quite often get passengers moan at me about the launch of my car when I nip out of a junction from standstill. I find these cars get off the mark really quickly, which I love, but I have had 3 people now say it hurt their neck when I booted it. So I have got into the habit of saying brace yourself! LOL 99% of the time I am totally smooth, well the car is driven lightly, it is just that occasion on a busy junction or round about where you want to use the cars capabilities to get off the mark and you brake your passengers necks. Does anyone else find this?
  7. Yes this is right, I never have my map on, so you select the bottom right hand button Display, top right on the screen is "Display off" I then leave my screen blank, but if I select Audio or Climate it stays up, so you press the Audio or Climate again and it goes back to off. I just like it dark in my car at night so I tend to leave it off.
  8. Thanks Martin! Geoffers, how do you find out what firmware version you are on?
  9. Guys, I have an ericsson K800i and it connects beautifully to my Blue Tooth in the car no worries, works fine, but if I get a text message once it is connected it hangs, if I try to make a call, my car says is either "Call Terminated by network" or "Check your phone. " On my phone I have to remove the battery to solve this problem as my power switch will not reset it! I have connected the same phone to a headset, no problems, but in the car, it hangs when this happens? Anyone else have this same problem with other phones, or indeed with the ericsson? I have vodafone software on the phone as well, which may be it.
  10. I dont want to start a "who gets the best MPG" thread, but I average 28 in mine, all traffic queuing :(
  11. 6' 4" tall, no problems at all with leg room. I set the front of the seat to its highest setting, back to its lowest, about half way back and I fit fine. The back seat leg room is terrible in these cars though.
  12. Thanks guys, useful to know. Like you say, these engines are so quiet you notive these things.
  13. Guys, I have the IS250 petrol auto, I find the engine is really really ticky, I have checked the oil, however I think this may be a fuel pump type of tick than a tappet noise. Anyone out there have the same noise from theirs?
  14. I understand that the IS250 learns your driving, does that mean that if you are pootling around everywhere and suddenly give it a burst, it may not be quite as quick as someone who boots it all the time? I just find that after a few blips my car seems quicker than the first one, or is it just me??
  15. That was a concern that crossed my mind, shame they do not have a re-lock and do up the windows option if you do not get into the car!
  16. I had a 330ci - 330ci which had the full audio system and satnav in it, awesome car, really pulled well, lovely drive. However, there was a constant hiss coming through the speakers, even when the audio system was off, ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss and once you were focussed on the sound it drove you up the wall!! So I went back to BMW with it, and the sales manager had a 330 convertible with the same audio system in his, but his did not hiss! So I said, if one does not hiss, then I am sure mine should not as well. They spent weeks pulling bits out of my brand new car, he called me in to say they had fixed it and it was exactly the same. So he said they were going to remove the seats and carpet, I said, no I want my money back or a replacement car, which he agreed to immediately. So my brand new BMW arrived, still wrapped in the packing and I turned the key to position 2, ssssssssssssssssssssssssssss, so I swapped it for a Z4 with all the trimmings, which was mad really, but hey, I was in a Mid life crisis and had to spend money .... Unfortunately, I lost the Z4 to my ex-wife when we got divorced, I got the house, she got the £38k Z4! :( Never mind..... So there you go, lots of cars, not matter what you spend, have their rattles or noises.
  17. How weird, I only found that out the other day on mine as well, LOL! I was in the garage, doing some work on my bike, I accidently set off the alarm on it and had to fiddle around trying to get the thing to shut up, when I was walking back to the house, I found my car unlocked with the windows part way down! I thought I had a fault at first, then I thought it may have been something to do with my bike alarm making it go screwy, then I realised I still had my car key fob in my pocket. So I got in, done up the windows and locked the car, stood there scratching my head, then I started to experiment by holding buttons down on the remote lock and discovered, you can undo the windows when you unlock the car, the moment you release the lock button the windows stop going down. Equally holding the lock does them up.
  18. Guys, I have searched and not found anything on the forum, probably due to my lack of searching capabilities. Is there a hack or unlock to allow you to play movies whilst driving, I feel I am adult enough to not look at the screen whilst under way and it allows my passenger to watch a film on a long trip. ??
  19. I found, being 6' 4" that my leg rests against the centre console, pushing the plastic side trim onto the centre console surface, by lifting my leg a little the cracking stops, not an ideal fix, but hey... I also agree, temp has a lot to do with it. Got a severe knocking noise on the left door, fall for it every time, the seatbelt has not retracted properly and knocks on the door pillar
  20. Thanks guys for your feedback, really useful.... And you are right, these cars do sort themselves out quickly which is nice. I also think I have a hill start help thing, not sure what that does though or how it works because I have been on a steap enough slope for my car, in drive, to roll backwards!
  21. Yeah I suppose the kick was a little harder than usual, but nothing that I would have really cr4pped myself about.
  22. Last night on my way home, I was at a junction and went to nip out on what I now know to be a slippery surface. I put in a fairly generous helping of throttle and the car has given me little kicks as the back end tries to come out on me, then I have that re-assuring flashing of my traction control light and everything is made right again. However, on this occasion I must have really pushed the boundries as my back end kicked a little more than usual, nothing majorly scary and this time instead of the warning light flashing, the car actually beeped at me 3 times internally and no warning lights flashed and it rectified my incompetence. So my question is, is it normal for the car to beep? I called Lexus this morning and they said yes it is, but I can not find anything in the manual saying this. Has anyone on here experienced the same thing?
  23. Some day time links as well, I had these on my old IS200, they really look nice. Kick Plate 1 Kick Plate 2 They were apparantly a right bu99er to fit! Also I got them free as I had to have my complete gear box replaced a few weeks after buying my new Lexus IS200, so they threw these in as an apology, I love Bracknell Lexus, they really look after me.... :)
