  1. Anybody got any ideas where you can buy really good quality larger wheels for the RX. I would like to get some wheels of similar design to the 18" wheels currently on there, just a lot bigger so they look a bit more in proportion. Any ideas greatfully received??
  2. I notice when I am driving my RX400h on electric motors with the windows down there is a sort of whistle from the motors, almost like a high pitch noise. Then when I brake the noise varies to a slightly louder high pitch noise. Does anyone else find this with their RX400H?
  3. Do you get the Trafficmaster info? My sat nav gets the feed of traffic & road works info - I can't remember how it's switched on but it just works. My car is an RX400 SE on a late 55 plate, the 06 model. It doesn't show all speed cams - just sometimes! Yes, I have that on, I see queues and road works etc.... I will look in there.
  4. My RX400 satnav seems to have a few special POIs called "Traffic Equipment" - didn't realise what they were until I passed a GATSO on the A316 near Twickenham.... They also show the London Congestion Charging Cameras. My car is a Jan 06 on a 55 plate with what looks like 2006 software. Do others have the same? Jonathan Whats this!? "Traffic Equipment" is that an option then?
  5. Cheers for the response. I have updated my profile, I have an RX400h, which seems to me to be primarily a front wheel driver car, under hard acceleration it does seem to yank from one wheel to the next on occasions. In terms of the wind, I am aware of that as I ride a motorbike, so I appreciate the wind blast. Having driven many cars and not any SUVs until now I have not really appreciated what effect wind can have on a car. Hence my question, do people find in the RX300/400 that the wind hits the front of the car hard, giving the impression of hesitation?
  6. Ok, I am getting used to it slowly, but any tips and tricks would be greatfully received! Do you find these cars suffer with bad torq steer under hard acceleration, it has taken me by surprise a few times, I am getting used to it slowly, but it really does S around sometimes, I am sure it is more user error than car. Also, on a windy day, the car feels like it is hesitating, I am not sure if it is, or the wind hitting the front is creating that sensation, anyone else find this?
  7. The way I look at it with these motors, using them normally, IE, open road driving, lots of accelerating and listening to that wonderful purr of the engine. You are going to burn fuel, not sure I have ever seen mine as low as 22mpg, but I have got it down to 25mpg, which I would expect considering how I am driving it. Round town, I easily get 45mpg as I spend most my time on elec motors with occasional engine on tick over. The fact is, for the 25mpg, I am getting something that accelerates at the same speed as an Audi Q7 4.2ltr but at a third of the emission output, so lower tax, better consumption... Better all round. Not only that a Q7 would be giving you about 16mpg! My average in and out of town is about 27 - 28mpg, which I think is brilliant for the size and performance of car. I am sure if I did more town use I would get better. My point is, if you wanted to buy this car and expect to get Ford Focus 1.6 fuel economy, you have been very mis-informed, for the size of car, it is good on fuel, in the scheme of economy and cars, it is not that great.
  8. Sorry guys, so if you do need to jump start your engine, how do you do it? It is a shame you can not jump off the Hybrid battery or something until the car battery is up and running.
  9. hi! you have 3 options. nbr. 1 is the IPod Integration Kit from lexus europe, part nbr. PZ420-00263-ME, price around 300,-EUR nbr. 2 is soundlink from vaistech (www.vaistech.com), sells for about 300,-USD, must be self imported from US nbr.3 is Dice iPod integration kit Dice kit, sells for about 150,-USD, self import. lexus integration kit and soundlink adapters are working fine, dice users have reported some troubles but latest versions should work fine. regards willi Thanks Willi, is option 1 easily fitted by me or a dealer?
  10. Can anyone help? Used to have the IS250, so I came up with this brilliant idea of having an ipod with all my tunes on it in the car as it had the Aux input, now I have the RX400h, I no longer have the Aux input, any mods you know of where this can easily be resolved?
  11. Well on the use I have of the car, I used to average 25 - 26mpg on the IS250. So far on the RX I am averaging exactly the same! But I have been unable to resist that lovely growl of the engine and have been putting in the full BHP here and there quite a bit!
  12. Well two rattles have occured so far, the rear roller blind was not clipped in properly, so that was fixed easy and the rear seat belt clip was not stored properly, so, so far so good. The loan RX I had, had a few squeaks and rattles.
  13. Well one down side of an RX400h is you become a fair ground ride, everyone I know wants to be taken out in it to see what it is like on elec motors.
  14. .... and hello RX400h! Over the moon with it! What a brilliant car.... Had to make the change for a more pratical motor on the loading space, but did not want to lose performance and Lexus quality, so got the RX400h! So I am round the corner in the RX400 bit of the forum! :)
  15. I am suprised more people have not responded to this one, it is a really interesting question. I have this theory to change mine in 3 or 4 years so I can sell it with some warranty left, on the other hand I tihnk it is worth keeping as it cost me so much to buy and I love it! I am nervous of the £3k battery needing replacing one day though....
  16. Can someone tell me, I have just got an RX and tucked in the side of the rear seats are these little clips that make the seat belt lower, which I assume is for kids so the seat belt goes across their chests and not down the side of their necks. Does that mean with this device in place you no longer need booster seats?
  17. dam it, that site is blocked where I am, so I can not see them! :(
  18. I know what this is, I had it on my new RX400h I picked up on Saturday. I had some re-programming done on the car to stop the windows un-doing when I hold the unlock button, its a long story, in short I managed to open my windows when in my office on a rainy day by resting on my key, so I asked on my new Lexus that they disable that feature. When they mess with the software the windows have to be set to find their limits before the drivers door controls work. To do this you lower each of the windows one at a time by holding the down button down, when the window reaches its limit you keep the button held for 3 seconds or more. You then do up the window and hold the button up for 3 seconds or more, the car now knows where the window limits are and the drivers door controllers kick into life. As I went round each window, each control started to work on the drivers door. Also the sunroof apparently needed doing, so I did that and it worked properly. I think if they do any software refreshes on the car this needs doing and sometimes the engineers forget to do it. My dealer talked me through it on the phone.
  19. On Saturday I picked up my new baby! I am so so so happy with her! RX400h, in Alution grey, with grey leather, MM, ICE all the bits and pieces. I am so chuffed with the car, really pleased. Sorry, I had to share that with all of you. One small thing, I am finding it hard to get used to the road steer you get off the front wheels when you boot it, the first time I was s'ng all the way down my lane as each wheel was grabbing at the road. Brilliant! :winky:
  20. Thanks Jamboo, same as you on that.... I feel I have lost "a little" on the looks front the RX aint bad looking but IS is a lovely looking motor, the practicalities and performance of the RX is really good.
  21. Well I have my RX400h on the way, registered in Dec 2006, Alution (Spelling) grey, with grey leather, multimedia, having ICE fitted. I can not wait to get my mits on it! :winky:
  22. Bev, Do you mind if I ask what happened to cause the vehicle to be written off. Pleased to hear your husband is okay though.
