  1. The overall length of the pipework is not a major factor. What is a primary consideration is the airflow efficiency of the pipe work and the intercooler core. People often get confused over this issue and think that it is the pipe length that creates the feel of "lag", when it is more to do with incrorrect pipe sizes, inconsiderate bend radii, and more more importantly the flow restriction of the core itself. The majority of the intercoolers available on the market are actually quite poor, and of course the plethora of useless intercoolers from China that are currently flooding the UK and US doesn't help. Hope this helps a little :)
  2. Hi Mike Nice to hear from you! The reason the intake mod works so well on the early Imprezza is because the standard resonator is very restrictive (it reduces in volume by around 25%). This isn't the case on the is200. The split intake is more for structural rigidity (if the divider wasnt there, the compressive strength would be compromised) Hope this helps :)
  3. The "Trusted Centre" concept has finished now, and will be replaced by a new concept. I know that Tony is communicating with Paul Jones at TDi North about becoming a WIM Franchise, but of course there are validation and training etc processes before that can happen, so the best thing is to PM Tony and see if he can recommend anyone in your area. Hope this helps :)
  4. That seems to be an effective intercooler Aido (in terms of thermal efficiency). The flow efficiency is also vitally important. :) The problem for most people, especially now that the UK is flooded with cheap rubbish from China, is trying to identify and evaluate the differentiation. Just becasue it looks pretty doesn't mean it's any good. The other consideration is that of priorities. If someone just wants the "big intercooler" look, they may as well buy the cheapest one they can find that fits the bill, but if they want something that actually works - that requires more diligence. Mark :) Just as a reference...... When I originally turbo'd my IS engine I bought a "cheap chinese intercooler." Although i don't know what temp the air was just after the turbo I do know that as far as cooling goes it did a great job. I know this as the temp reading from the Autronic air intake temp sensor read a steady 20-21 degrees. That meant nothing to me when I heard it but i was told it was a very good reading. The intercooler I used was from what I could see, very well made and used the better 'bar and plate' method of cooling. It was also of a reasonably large size, maybe even too large but I had over compensated at the time as i originally planned to up the boost later after engine rebuild. As for what Mark has mentioned about the flow of the cooler I do not know the flow efficiency. Although I would hazard a guess that most of the flow efficiency is gained by having the right shape of end tanks on the cooler. I would expect that one bar and plate core is pretty much the same and as good as another bar and plate core. if you were to look at my old cooler which Elliot now has you will see that the shape of the end tanks seem to be very 'flow friendly' if you know what I mean. I do stand to be corrected though.... 20 -21 degrees is very good but it does depend on what the temperature is from the compressor, for example it may not be very high if the boost pressure is low. It's an intersting subject (to me anyway ). The "bar and plate" designs are generally good but to confuse matters further there are different types of bar and plate designs. For example there are different ratios of bar to plate, different transfer tube volumes, some transfer tubes have no internal fins, some do have internal fins, and there are different densities of internal fins too. It can be a minefild for the uninitiated. Cast end tanks are always better than fabricated end tanks because the internal radii can be optimised. We have also incorporated a special aerodynamic feature into our core which improves flow by 30%. I hope this helps a little :)

  6. Sorry, I hope you don't mind me correcting you - "psi" is a unit of pressure (pounds per square inch) which is also an imperial measurement that is no longer used as an industry standard. I think you may mean "PS"?
  7. Excellent and accurate answers - well done to you Neil :D I would also mention that Imperial Horse Power has not really been used as an industry standard unit of measurement for quite a while. Metric Horse Power is now the order of the day :)
  8. That's great Adie. Have fun and don't forget to let us have your thoughts please :)
  9. I offered to educate Dave on this very issue a week or so ago on this thread, but he declined. The formula that Dave dug up is only valid when applying Imperial measurements, ie foot pounds and Imperial horse power, therefore any data that is measured in anything that is not Imperial units cannot use this formula. The power shown in the graph that Adie has displayed is measured in Metric Horespower, not Imperial Horsepower, therefore the power and torque curve will not cross at 5252 rpm Well done to Mac for identifying the correct data, and for asking completely legitimate questions. I wonder if we'll get an admission or an apology for being incorrect and for using inappropriate and offensive language?
  10. 1. 2. Thanks for your input Nick The Greek, I appreciate your time. It seems to me that: 1. This is not evidence of bad mouthing (in my opinion) it is a matter of fact. If you want to see irrefutable examples of bad mouthing against myself, TDI and other innocent victims, please take a look at the prolex forum. 2. That is not evidence of a threat, it is a matter of fact. If I had indicated what would happen to him if he chose to mock my name when he is standing in front of me, then that would have been a threat. You may notice that I didn't do that. Thanks again for your time :)
  11. There are some wise words there - thank you for that :). I too am completely bored with it but have a duty of care to TDI to deal with it. I wouldn't say your first post appeared unbiased, because you acused me of blaming prolex for replying. It is clear that none of my statements blamed him for replying, in fact I actively invited substantive replies (which didn't come). I hope you would agrre that it is right and proper for people to state facts, not supposition, belief , hope etc stating them as facts. I don't know whether you saw it on the original thread, but Adie did indeed post up the facts. The older members may recall that I offered the olive branch to prolex on several occasions but it was not accepted for some reason. If your intentions are unbiased - I say good on you - because any form of dogma is a clear indication of stupidity. I would not encourage anyone to dogmatically support TDi, but hope they choose to use our services for professional and fully considered reasons. All the best :) Thanks for that. Are you the Forum Administrator or in anyway connected with Ultrajap?
  12. Hello TNM. Nice to speak with you for the 1st time. I have to partly agree with you. The two projects I am currently working on have a combined value of £44m, and if successful will transform the lives of hundreds of families, so to divert my resources to deal with purnicious unpleasantness on the Prolex and Ultrajap forums is indeed very sad. I don't agree this is petty though, because we are an established business and we need to deal with sort of thing now and then. By the way, you have the same name and avatar as the Forum Admisnistrator on the Ultrajap forum which is owned by Mike Morse. Is that you, and are you a close relative of Mike (Son)? The reason I ask is because the ultrajap and prolex forums are the 2 primary playgrounds of a small handful of people that post hateful and incorrect statements. If you are anything to do with that, may I ask why that happens please? Thanks for your interest :) Not answering questions is generally known as "avoiding questions". Please read the thread to count how many issues you have avoided. If you want me to have a sensible and factual conversation with you regarding "blowing up cars", I am happy to do that providing you don't start avoiding the issues again. I am sorry to say that you are factually incorrect again. Please look at the dates of your posts on your forum, and then look at the date of my 1st post. Then I would urge you to consider and try and understand the concept of "cause and affect". I don't think anybody woud mind if you based your statements on fact rather than belief and hope. In fact I believe that would be a very good thing and will heartily welcome that. Please let me break this down into the separate issues: 1. Please advise me where I have bad mounthed Prolex and yourself 2. Please direct me to where I have threatened you. 3. Bazza can answer for hmself on the issue where he was invoked 4. I am sorry to say that your actions are classic symptoms of a psychotic fixation disorder. Go look it up for yourself and see. You didn't keep to that at all. You coudn't help making incidious, hateful and provactive statements in the Prolex and Ultrajap forums. Nico told me that he has reported you to Trading Standards so I take that as being factual. The fact that you posted on Adies thread whilst engaged in litigation with him is entirely inappropriate at best. At no point was there any insinuation or reference to who the Claimant was. In fact it doesn't matter who the Claimant is anyway as you will probably find out in due course. There you again relying on belief and supposition. If you can just stop and consider for a monent, and I do mean seriously think about it, you may find that you have brought all this upon yourself by your own words and actions. Please let me know where you have seen evidence of my "hysterical behaviour" Thank you :)
  13. That's another one of your problems right there. It's not amusing - it's tedius. We have a duty to protect our business so unfotunately have to address people like you now and then. So where in your thread does it say that you can't get Toda parts at jaw dropping prices? Come and see the email for yourself. There you go again making assumptions. I made a commercial decision to refund you a small (not substantial) sum of money, which is something many businesses do to deal with emotionally unstable or unreasonable people. There you go again making assumptions. Come and have a look at our email from Hayashi to see for yourself how you were "played". I certainly won't enjoy owning them. In fact if you care to look at the companies that we chose to associate ourselve with you will see that they are all highly respectable so I don't see where the prolex url's will fit in. The only reason I bought them was to highlight your mistake and to demonstrate the concept of "cause and effect" to you. There you go again relying on belief and supposition. Please bear in mind that the only people in posession of the facts are the TDI technicians and Adies Independant Engineer, therefore your unqualified and uneducated statements are entirely valueless. Enjoy yourself.
  14. One of the reasons your arguments always fall apart is due to your reliance on belief and supposition. Although you made the statement above, if you seriously stop to think about what you have just said, you should realise that you can't be "sure" because you have not canvassed "the majority of people on here" for their opinion. In your forum, you have boasted about purchasing the domain name www.tdi-plc.co.uk, and have fantasized about what you would like to do with it. Personally I would have expected anyone who engages in such activities to have the intelligence or common sense to secure their own domain names before boasting about it. Yesterday afternoon I was easily able to purchase the following domain names: 1. www.Prolex-UK.co.uk 2. www.prolexUK.co.uk 3. www.prolexUK.com In your forum you made the following statement about Adies car yesterday : "having thought about it............it doesnt add up. if the head lifts due to the 1.4 bar boost pressure where will the water/oil go ? Surely it will go where there is least pressure which is to atmosphere (out of the engine) the head will drop down again....so the plugs (which are now damaged) would have been OK................ Not scientific but commonsense me thinks" I did offer you some education earlier in the thread which you declined. The reason "it doesn't add up" is because you are unqualified and completely clueless on automotive technical issues. Again, you have relied on belief and supposition to make an incorrect public statement. On your forum you have started a thread called "Email from Toda Racing" which appears to be a "straw clutching" excercise n your hate campaign against TDI. You have commited the cardinal sin of publishing a confidential commercial email, which clearly demonstrates the level of your integrity. Hayashi San has seen your post and is disappointed by your behaviour. Clearly, I cannot publish the email I received from Hayashi but I can tell you that he has raised concerns about your mental health. You are welcome to see the email at our premises at any time. By the way, regarding your post entitled "Toda Racing and Camcon at Jaw Dropping Prices". I notice that it was dated prior to your email to Hayashi asking if you can buy Toda parts, and him telling you that you have to buy them from us. The obvious question is whether your post was a complete lie, as I have still not seen any Toda racing parts on sale at Prolex over a year later. For your future benefit it may be worth while studying and trying to understand the concepts of "cause and effect" and "actions and reactions". Have a nice day :)
  15. Hiya, sorry for the late rely to you. We were fully active in one of the Supra forums but left when it became clear that it was owned and moderated by a team that we wanted to become disassociated with. Most of the sensible people left at the same time and went to this Supra club who we still support. We actively seek to disengage ourselves from any hostile or childish environments unless it to resolve any real issues with any of our clients, which is why you won't see us on certain forums. If LOC goes the same way (which is unlikely), you won't see us here either.
  16. If you care to look up the meaning of disengenuous you will find that it does not apply to anything I have said Regardless of the fact that you have not answered any of the points I raised with you yesterday therefore I am legitimised in ignoring you. It is not my position to answer your question and I respect Adies concern over the potential prejudice of the court hearing so will remain silent on this issue. If you feel the need to boast about anything before the court hearing - go right ahead
  17. Hi Daz, we did find a few things that were less than ideal but I have to say that it was very impressive :) If anyone has ever driven a 6 cylinder car with a big single turbo (like a converted Supra or Skyline), you will know that there is a fair amount of lag until around 4000 rpm then it really takes off :) We specified the turbocharger package to produce 420hp, and it does pretty much what it says on the tin ;). We could have gone for more power with a bigger turbo but Adie quite correctly was mindful of the potential limitations of the transmission and engine so he opted for this. I have to say that Adie made a wise decision in this respect as any more power would have resulted in more lag and more stress. I reckon Adie will be pleased with it when it is put back together again properly. I have to get back to my project now so will hand this back to Sam and Shaun (unless I called back for any reason). Cheerio :D
  18. windup merchant ? I am sure people will have made up their own minds about your level of professionalism, competance and integrity by now. No doubt they will have formed, or had reinforced, their own minds about your level of professionalism, competance and integrity as well. I fully hope so. As mentioned previously, I expect to be judged by my peers and clients. If anyone has a problem with myself or TDI I will deal with it in a professional manner. I will not hide in a playground.
  19. windup merchant ? I am sure people will have made up their own minds about your level of professionalism, competance and integrity by now.
  20. Does anyone know what the name for someone that refuses to engage in providing factual data, but prefers to hide in a playground and publish garbage like this and this is please?
  21. Hi Anees, the reason is simply because I take my job very seriously, even though I don't really have time to engage in trivea at the moment. I am 100% responsible for everything that happens at TDi (even though I am no longer involved in the day to day running). I take an objection to anyone that prints hate, lies and inaccuracies about my company, and I expect a full explanation (as a matter of honour and decency) from anyone that chooses to do so. It's a saddening indictment of todays society where somethinks they can say what they like without being challenged to provide a reasoned and intelligent argument, or evidence.
  22. Mark - I left school many years ago. I've tried to be polite but maybe a more direct reproach may work. I have better things to do with my time than waste it dealing with a small minded egocentric bully like you so **** off and get a life. Does that mean that you don't want to be educated? I can understand your desire to remain in ignorance, as many faith based philosophies actively engage in fact avoidance. There's no need to use rude language. Are you getting agitated by your inability to provide substantive responses? If you have better things to do with your ife, why do you spend so much time publishing hate, lies and technical inaccuracies in your little playground?
  23. It is a shame you are not prepared to back up any of your claims or statements, or honour the wager. Regarding this public display of ignorance. Would you like me to educate you with a technical explanation, or would you prefer to wallow in your faith/denial/prejudice based existance?
  24. Thank you for your concern but I can assure you that I am completely calm, as usual. You may not have noticed, but I did not make any threats. What I did do is tell you exactly what will happen. I notice that you have still not provided any substantive responses to the issues in hand. You are not qualified technically or ethically to make a statement on the credibility of TDI. I expect to be judged by my peers and my customers, as should you.
  25. Firstly, I don't get stressed out, at all, in any way shape or form. I am capable of dealing with fools in a calm and professional manner. Secondly, I notice that you have completely avoided the issues. Have you withdrawn your wager? Thirdly, regarding this other utter garbage, I state catagorically that you are either lying or have been lied to, and offer you a wager that you cannot provide any substantiation of your statement (unless you can find one of your chums to pretend he has spoken to me). Fourthly, your statement "well seems that the blow up was caused by faulty head bolts.........wonder how another IS running same boost doesnt have that problem ?" clearly demonstrates your ignorance of automotive issues. The clue for you is that high power produces high cylinder pressures and stresses. Fifthly, do not forget that I am coming looking for you to see if you are man enough to mock my name when I am standing in front of you (instead of behind a key board). If you care to read back through the thread, or even where I quoted you in my 1st post today, you will see where you have butted in.
