  1. Please allow me to try and help you with this. Of course it is possible to dyno an automatic car, but the big issue of relevancy is to do with recording meaningful data. By "meaningful" I mean accurate and repeatable data. Some of the main issues to consider when dyno-ing an automatic transmission are: 1. The transmission will "kick down" into a lower gear at full throttle. a. The dyno needs to see a single consistant gear to enable it to calculate the engine speed, so "kicking down" to a lower gear is a big problem. b. Some dyno operators run automatic cars at less than full throttle to avoid the kick down switch. A power run at less than full throttle is pointless because it has no accuracy. c. It is possible to run the engine from the speed above which the transmission kicks down. This will give approximately half a power curve so is of little value. 2. Most automatic transmissions do not have a feature to allow the torque convertor to be locked up, which means that the power recorded at the wheels/hubs will not be consistant from one run to the next so therefore it will have little value. 3. The automatic transmission fluid viscosity is relative to it's temperature which affects the amount of torque transmitted to the wheels/hubs, so unless it's temperature is monitored and stabilised the recorded data has limited value. None of the above issues are completely insurmountable but they are unlikely to be resolved as part of a £40 power run. I hope this helps. By the way djwozza, good effort with your intercooler.
  2. Over on the Win web site the other day, Mark @ tdi implied you was happy with what tdi had done to your car You are wrong on this issue. Please take the time to read it properly. Thank you in advance.
  3. so not the plugs or coil packs mentioned at that time.... at least they have now come clean :) You appear to be mistaken in two respects on this issue: Firstly, I suspect that these may have been among the first components to be investigated during the critial path analysis, but nobody ever said that it was the spark plugs and/or coil packs that were faulty. Secondly, your statement "that we have now come clean" insinuates that we had been hiding something, which is completely incorrect. Nobody has ever asked us about this issue, nor have we made a statement or even mentioned it. If you feel the need to make a comment or form an opinion about myself or TDI please try to confirm the validy first. All you need to do is ask us. I appreciate your attention on this matter, and thank you in advance.
  4. That's very encouraging to see the car back together again Charnjit :) The power does seem to be extraordinarilly low so it may be worth considering getting a professisonal opinion or review. As the only communication we have had recently was a request regarding our stage 2 pulley kit, I would like to put closure to the outstanding issue of the blame for the failure of your engine. As I did clearly state that we would pay if it was found that we were to blame, please let me know if you or your contractors found any fault with our work that caused the engine failure. Thanks and best regards :)
  5. Gentlemen, I wouldn't want you guys to get the wrong idea so please allow me to clear up some points here. Without quoting everyone (to save some time), please allow me to put forward the following points: 1. Last time I enquired (fairly recently) there were a couple of TTE kits left in stock in Germany at around 5000 Euros. If they are still available they are the latest versionn not the V1 models which were the cheap ones on sale by TGB. 2. We do not offer the Rotrex for sale as a TDI product. We have only done one car which was specially commissioned by a client. We would be happy to undertake the same or similar specification again, and can confirm that we have the knowledge and technology to exceed 400hp using the supercharged 1G FE engine. 3. There have not been any reliability issues whatsover with any of the work done or products installed by us on the Rotrex supercharged car. As anyone sensible would understand, there has been ongoing development required as more standard components reached their toleration threshold. I'll touch on this shortly in the appropriate thread. 4. Our client received the dyno charts for this conversion when he took delivery of the car. I understand that he wants to maintain discretion on this issue, which of course is his perogative. All the best :)
  6. To answer your question, the way we do it is to use a sub cumputer used in "piggy bag" mode which enables the fuel and ignition to be recalibrated. You will not see a huge increase but it is worth doing. Hope this helps :)
  7. mark would this be an hks fcd ? Yes Barrie. They are £85 plus vat and are in stock (with wiring info). The adjustment does affect the a/f ratio so be careful what you do with it.

Hello Gord, That's a very unusual thing to say. Would you mind explaining exactly what you mean please? Thank you.
  9. Hence my post, do it via PM, not on here, we dont wanna see it Ive now sent Mark a pm :D You have a returned PM. Please try and keep your statements factual Thank you
  10. Hello Gord I noticed the statement on your signature today: 1st to be banned by TDI Please add this to the list of your other incorrect statements. Thank you
  11. I can think of at least two places :) Tony Goose had the system we supplied to him fitted at TTE. I seem to recall that they had 2 guys working on the car and it took four hours to do, so that makes 8 man hours in total which is about right in our experience. E300 Euro's is a great price by a great company I wonder if they subsidised it? How do you know ???? How do I know what? You have quoted several different issues. Some clarity would be helpful. You know that I'm not impressed by willy waving because actions speak considerably louder than words, but if you want to challenge me (do you remember what happened when Prolex UK challenged me to publish an invoice?) I will trawl our records to see how many we have done over the years, and I'll ask TTE in Cologne if they have any similar records, if it's that important to you. You will of course have to provide proof to substantiate your original claim.
  12. Hi Wozza, No, I am sorry to say that the "stage Tuning" side of our web site is not functioning yet and has some incorrect information. We have been working on this for months but it will still be quite a while before it's working properly. We still have the "under construction" notice on the home page. The "parts" side of it is mostly accurate. I am very sorry for any confusion and inconvenience. Mark :)
  13. Hi Rob, We don't keep any in stock so the supply situation will depend on how many TTE have left (the lastest type) Thanks for asking. Mark :)
  14. I don't think it's possible to have differenet labour rates depending on what tools are being deployed - that would be a nightmare to manage. Businesses tend to set their charge out rates according to their costs, capabilities and market forces. Our team is quite small but very highly skilled. They must have around £100k worth of their own tools between them, plus the company has re-invested around £1m in itself in the last couple of years to add value for our clients, so you should really take these kind of things into account too :)

  16. I would imagine that the difference in fitting costs is due to the different charge out rates, which is a function of the capabilities and location of the company. We charge £80 plus vat per hour (less Gold Member discount). I woud sugest that a basic duel dilligence analysis is indertaken prior to making a choice of service provider, similar to those mentioned here For those unaware, the Tuning Industry is awash with Dreamers and Incompetents because there are no barriers to entry. Anyone with a keyboard and set of fingers can create a web site business with misleading and unsubstatiated claims. Unfortunately the clients often don't realise that until it's too late. Over the last couple of years we have had several victims come to us to put thing right that were done badly "on the cheap" which ended up being more expensive than having it done properly in the 1st place. We have a perfect example of that in the workshop at moment. Thirty five faults by a trader on mkivsupras.net. The good news is that "natural selection" seems to be kicking in at the moment - at least 4 companies at the bottom end of the tuning industry that I know have gone out of business in the last few weeks. The advice I can offer anyone is this: 1. Undertake basic due dilligence as mentioned above. 2. Ask the company to provide details of satisfied clients. 3. Visit the company to make sure you feel comfortable with the people you are intend dealing with I hope this helps a little :) I understand what you are saying. I work for an major oil service provider and we as a company charge more than 50% more than any other company in our field. Work is really picking up now as our customers now realise we do the job right the first time, our personel are highly trained in their jobs and more importantly our equipment has a very high standard and we have minimum breakdowns/downtime. This then in turn saves them money as some instalations have a rate of £1/4M per 24hr period Your prices could be as much as 400% more for the same fitment as what Prolex/Charlesworth gives. Also i think Steve must have proved his service as he has fitted many Superchargers? I cant see why that is in question. Also even at £80 an hour that about 10 hours is this really how long it takes to do? But at the end of the day its your business and it must be working and i wish you every success. Hi Rod, It's good to know that there is an understanding of some of the issues involved :) I am not qualified nor am I prepared to comment on what another company charges for their work. We normally allow between 8 and 12 hours to present the conversion to what we consider to be a minimum acceptable professional standard. I have heard that other people have done it quicker but I have no idea to what standard.
  17. Hi Rikos, I hope you appreciate that I can only speak for what we do here. I don't know or have any interest in what other garages do or how they charge - that's their business. We don't have a fixed price for fitting anything because we work on a "time spent" basis which we find to be fairer to everyone.

  19. Did anyone see "Enemies of Reason" on TV on Monday evening? What a fascinating and thoroughly relevant subject. I have read a couple of Richard Dawkins books and have to say that the unarguable logic is very compelling :)
  20. How is the new upgraded auto transmission holding up Dave I can answer that for you Gord (if Dave doesn't mind). I would say that it's holding up a lot better than a standard transmission (which only lasted a few days after the stage 2 upgrade was installed) but it's not a long term solution. The torque from the stage 2 upgrade is on the edge of what the uprated transmission is capable of handling. We are investigating a proper long term auto solution, and changing to a 6MT.
  21. If anyone is going to Trax this year, you'll be very welcome to drop by our stand for a beer and a natter :) We'll also have some very nice machinery on display too.
  22. Brilliant news Adie :D Don't forget to let us have a "once over" before you give it full throttle.
  23. ladies......... as in one`s with engines or one`s with booby`s Booby's. Lovely lovely booby's (not that I noticed )
  24. Sam and Shaun are coming to Rotorstock, and bringing a couple of very nice ladies ;)
