  1. Looking good now Adie B) Well done mate :D It will be nice if we can see "before and after" pictures so that we can see the difference between how it was and how it is when finished B)
  2. Sounds like a tale of woes - I am very sorry to hear it. I should think that Lexus would be very interested in your feedback. All businesses need to know if they are going wrong (although I suspect you may be reluctant to want to help them). Best regards for the future, whichever direction you choose :D Mark :)
  3. I think it highly unlikely that a Lexus Dealer or any decent garage would need to cause damage to a clients car to gain additional work. If it is a decent business it should be earning sufficient money to pay for it's overheads and make a profit, without stooping to dishonest tactics. Additionally, the risk of discovery (ie losing the franchise) is far too high to consider trying to make a couple of hundred Pounds extra. I guess there is a possibility of a rogue Technician and/or Service Receptionist looking to boost their bonus by dishonest means? I don't know how Lexus Dealers operate a bonus system (if any), so this was only a thought. Chris Shipley may be able to help. I very much hope you mistaken and are just a victim of misfortune :)
  4. Cheers Mark. I'll look into that. What's the other one then please mate I emailed you the details yesterday Adie :). Definately worth considering as it's one of the best air boxes I have seen in recent times. HKS No. TDi do not sell sell them.

  6. We haven't used the Neo before, but from the description it looks very much like their old V-AFC which is suitable for Honda VEC engines - not for Toyota. The Camcon works well :)
  7. That's great news Adie :D I'm a bit concerned about the Viper induction though <_<. We haven't tested an application yet where the Viper does not lose power over a standard intake. The problem is that is that airflow likes to travel around the outside edge of an orifice (not through the middle). The Viper actualy blocks off the outside edge which means that the engine has to suck through the middle of the orifice (which reduces the airflow efficiency). I know of a similar but much better design sysem (let me know if you want the details).
  8. That sounds aweful. I'm feeling for you. It sound like a classic ID theft case, which is a growing crime in the UK. A paper shredder would be a wise investment. I hope it gets resolved soon.
  9. That's fantastic news Steve. Congratulations to you and Mrs Steve :D
  10. It depends on your interpretation of the meaning of the word "best". The ecu won't give you anywhere near the gains of forced induction (FI), but if you don't want FI but do want increased performance, then an ecu upgrade is worthy of consideration. It is actually a rlatively simple and pain free operation. There are quite a lot of tuning parts available now, and new stuff comes along now and then. LOC has links to traders web sites with some useful info. Good luck with it - let us all know how you get on please :D
  11. I noticed that the engine was dyno'd at Baker Pecision Engines. Is David Baker still there (the owners son)?
  12. This statement is not correct. Then provide data which shows the performance gains - on a totally standard car like our friend has, together with the cost of the remap and lets see the bucks per bang. Let's see......6hp (is that fly or wheels?).....mapping around 4 hours at £100/hour (inc VAT) equals.... AN INCREDIBLE 67 £/hp Top value for money there! :tsktsk: It seems like you may be getting confused between cost effectiveness and performance impact. RazRazor was not asking for a cost comparison between ECU recalibration and forced induction - he was aking if it was possible and how much it will cost. Your statement "You're wasting your money remapping unless you have a turbo or supercharger fitted" implies that ecu recalibration is not effective without a turbo or supercharger, which is clearly incorrect. Your statement "On a normally aspirated car the fuel is already going to the right place" is technically irrelevant and therefore pointless and prone to cause confusion. If for whatever reason an is200 owner does not want forced induction, an ECU upgrade is a valid and worthy critical path for increased performance and economy. It does when you look at the title of the topic and the car that the topic originator owns.
  13. This statement is not correct. Recalibrating the air/fuel ratio and spark advance is benefical to performance by around 6hp and 15 lfs/ft torque on a standard car. The more the engine it is modified, the greater the improvement should be. This process has nothing to do with "fuel going to the right place". It's a methodology for optimising the ecu calibration.
  14. That's a lot work, and it looks very nice. Fair play to you mate :)
  15. That looks very impressive Adie B) Are you going to retain that silicon hose from the throttle body (carried over from the original turbo kit)? It has a nasty restriction so it would be worth considering replacing it for a better design.

  17. Good work Barrie :D The stainless over braiding is quite abrasive and can "saw" through things, so it would be worth while considering spiral wrap for the hoses to protect peripheral components. PLEASE tell me you have connected the remote oil filter pipes correctly. We saw an engine seizure a couple of weeks ago due to a garage installing one of these incorrectly by not realising that there is a one way valve inside the filter.
