  1. Hi Guys I have just been on the Lexus official website and have seen 61 IS250's on sale(Approved cars) - I have never seen even 5 on the road! They also have 13 IS 220d's. Are they the demos? Their price is not far too below from the new ones. Javeed
  2. can we have some pics? Is the Sport model diff (shape) from the IS 250 S/SE/SEL?
  3. I agree with Alan - I have posted somewhere the legal consequences if you want to return your car. Whilst we all say Customer is the King, I think when it comes to situations like these, its the seller's market. I tried the same route after severe rattles and seat belt issues, but both CAB and SMMT suggested that the customer is on a 'thin ground' and if the seller/dealer have provided a solution(which Lexus do by giving a loan car, replacing the seat, seat belt etc), we stand a less chance. If its on Hire purchase, dont even think abt it! My dealer was very helpful when I was thinking of returning the car. He said that Lexus is a big company and they make a decision based on various factors. If the company doesnt decide to recall the car, then they will know how to justify it. Having said that, if it was a serious safety issue then they would consider it. In the process, I am fighting against a company on my own, wasting time, paying the solicitor and above all not enjoying my new car. I thought abt it and then said to myself - RELAX! Javeed
  4. Rich That reminds me - you can speak to Lexus CustomerServices. When I first rang them in December to complain about something else, they said the only compliant they had so far was with the locking system. Javeed
  5. Jamboo Thats great. Yes, thats my email address and I shall apprecaite if you could email the instruction sheet. I spoke with the guy at Carsparkle.co.uk and he said the same. I have already ordered the stuff and it will arrive tomorrow and it costs only £34.00 as compared to £350 quoted by the dealer. Also, does this help to get rid of minor scratches? The weather is not very good this week and moreover I am parking it at the airport this weekend, so will wait until next week. Thanks everyone for the quick response. I have saved £316!!!!! Javeed
  6. Hi Tel The rattle was actually from the co-passenger's seat, Lexus is replacing the whole seat. Jamboo - thanks for sharing your experience. I am sure I wont get supaguard done now. I take it its not a day job, will have to do it during the weekend? Javeed
  7. Hi All Sorry to start this thread if it is already somewhere, I am not sure about the cost, but was wondering if supaguard is worth or not. My car is booked for Thursday(change of seat) and I thought it will be good if I can get it done on the same day. Has anyone bought/applied Supaguard? Please could you let me have your thoughts on this Thanks Javeed
  8. Jamboo Just to let you know that I emailed the thread on 'rattle' last week to Lexus GB and the lady said to me that they have not recieved that many compliants at the head office and hence wouldnt act on that. Javeed
  9. Hi Guys Here is an update - Lexus Customer relations phoned me today regarding the problem (seat belt, rattles etc)and the lady(apparently the one who makes the decisions) spoke for about 30 minutes. I said to her that its time Lexus made a decision on this and recall the cars to rectify the problem. This is what she said:- We sympathise with you regarding the various issues you had. Our comprehensive warranty is designed to cover all these unexpected issues and we will try our best to rectify all the problems as soon as we can. We havent had many complaints on the rattles(surprise surprise, I had sent her an email attaching the thread on rattles which had around 80 responses). Apparently not all dealers have notified them about the rattles. She also said its not a suffcient reason to recall the cars since its not a very serious issue. The likely reasons to replace a car are brake failure( I said to her that I would have died if there was a brake failure), or any other 'major' safety reasons. She said the technicians are looking into this matter and it has nothing to do with the earlier or new models. She will write to me(she had to since I wrote to her, if it was a telephone call, dont expect them to return). I said to her that the part of the problem is that dealers are not well trained since its a new car, the dealers are lost sometimes and thats frustrating. She admitted that and just apologised. My car was with Lexus Tunbridge Wells for three days and they couldnt rectify the problem. For everything there is a delay now(seat belt, dashboard clips or anything for that matter), apparently there is nothing available in the country, they have to request and hence the reason for the delay. I think if Lexus doesnt recall and rectify the problems, we all eventually will have the whole car replaced through new spare parts. Javeed
  10. Hi There is another thread on the seat beltissue - I have been the victim already, took 5 working days for it to be delivered from Japan!! Javeed
  11. Caspian in my view is excellent (it was my second choise - I like Red cars!!). But it's a personal thing. Its a light sky blue metallic if I recall, saw one at Leicester in that colour, but the SE-L was a few too many shillings...on my humble mediocre car allowance... Excellent news!! Not long now :) Cheers Scott - I'm getting all excited... If it wasn't for the fact that I don't drink, a large whisky is called for...all reading this - have one for me! Incidentally - how's yer MPG comin' along? Jamboo I should say that Lexus Leicester is c**p. My brother got his IS 220d delivered last weekend through them. The guy said he was not responsible for the hand-over and spent only 10 minutes talking us through. I was surprised!!! Again, the car was not delivered on the date promised. I guess its time all Lexus Dealers are refreshed with some customer service training. I hope you get your car delivered on time. I am sure its worth the wait. Javeed
  12. Hi All Just heard from Lexus, Tunbridge Wells - Apparently the rattle sound from the doors is nothing to do with the doors, its the chair/seat!!! Now, they are ordering a new chair, again have to come from Japan. So does that mean Lexus will have to replace all cars with rattling sound(from doors) with new chairs? Guys, I should have kept my IS 200. Javeed
  13. I ordered mine on 15th Nov and got it delivered on 30th November. The dealer was pretty good. I then had a series of problems with the car and had requested the dealer to replace the car. The dealer was ready to deliver that in 3-5 working days. I guess, it depends on the spec and color. I was told that the wait for metallic colors are longer as compared to the non-metallic ones.
  14. Hi All Just a quick update - I have spoken with Lexus Customer relations regarding the ongoing rattle problems. I asked if Lexus have rectified the problem or are they gonna recall the cars? The Manager said that the rattle on its own is not a suffcient reason to recall the cars and no car is perfect!!!! I obviously didnt expect that. Anyway mycar is still with Tunbridge Wells Dealer(This time rattle from the front doors), I hope to collect it by this evening. I have asked the dealer to inspect the whole car...rather than the door... Javeed
  15. I dont just want to keep complaining on the forum, but I strongly agree with the above email. I had various problems with the new car but Lexus GB and Customer relations never got back to me after leaving many messages. This incident was strange: I phoned Lexus GB with the rattle complaint, nobody got back to me after one week. I then left the matter with the dealer and complained that noone from Lexus GB returned my call. After 3 weeks, Dec 28th, I received a call from Lexus GB saying that the person left a note to her colleague to call me on 12th Dec(one week after I spoke with them), but he forgot!!!!! Since then I have called Lexus GB only from the dealer (This way u get to speak to the right person!!)
  16. I have a Black IS 250 and have had many automatic car washes, but no swirls or scrathes. Lexus doesnt recommend automatic car washes. I am not sure about that(automatic car wash), what do others think? Javeed
  17. The Sport comes with Illuminated scuff plates both front and rear - SEL comes only in the front!
  18. Hello It seems like you are having exactly the same problem I did...I had the rattles first and then the seat belt. My drivers seat belt had the same problem - I began to wonder whether I made the right choice. It was embarrasing since it happened on the Christmas day and I had to drive from Lancaster to Mancheser without wearing the seat belt. I got out of the car and got back in again - and it worked!!! Unfortunately on News Year day, it happened again. This time I had to drive without seat belt straight to the dealer. I got a demo car and it took a week for them to replace the seat belt. If you have experienced that problem, please take it to the dealer because it will get locked very soon.It wil also take 4-5 days to get a replacement since its a new car. The seat belt has to come from Japan!!!!! For all other members: This is the second worst compliant for the new IS(first one being the rattles). Unfortunatley I have been the victim of both. Head of Lexus Customer Relations ( I forgot his name) said that the only consolation for me is that other IS 250's have had the same problem(this was when I asked lexus to take the car back!!!). So dont be surprised if it becomes a common problem. Even teh RX 300 have had the same problem. Does anyone monitors these threads and take action or is it purely for discussion? Javeed
  19. Hi All There is a thread which I started when I bought the IS 250 in December. Since then, it has had around 80 replies (many of them agreeing with the same). The rattle is nothing to do with MM, you can experience it from either the dashboard, or the four doors. Mine started with the right side of the dashboard(now rectified), then it was the left side(rectified). Just when I thought it was all sorted and perfect, it has now started from the side doors!!!! I took it to the dealer first thing this morning and they hope to get it sorted by the end of the day. The technician said it was to do with some four clips(for the dashboard) which was hanging loosely. It was a surprise to me because the moment I started explaining, the dealer knew it all!!!! They even said that few cars they sold have come back with the same problem!!! I dont think Lexus has made any recalls or suggestions based on the reports so far. I am afraid, but I think the rattle will continue and you will have to take it to the dealer to rectify it. Whilst it is a very good car, I think this particular complaint will damage the car's success in the market. Javeed
  20. Hi All I have just been on the Lexus website and realised that the IS 250 Sport(With MM& Sat nav) costs £1500 less than the SEL. I couldnt find any difference in the spec!
  21. Hi Its nothing to do with the multimedia kit - I have driven almost all versions and colors of IS 250's in the last couple of months (thanks to Lexus for the rattling sound) The dealer had a new demo which came mid december and it had the same problem - so I dont think its only with the first batch. Surprisingly, Lexus hasnt done anything abt it yet! Dealer keep telling me that they have reported it to lexus!!
  22. Hello Everyone I started this thread when I bought the car, December 05. Lexus, Tunbridge Wells booked in for 2 days and said everything was sorted(they didnt have a clue as to what it was!!!). After few days, the rattle started from the dashboard and the car was booked for a week!! Lexus said they have written a report to the company and apologised for the incovenience(as you would expect). I am sorry to hear that others have the same problem but here is where you all stand with it - a) Lexus will not take the car back if it is just a rattle sound. they compensated me with a free 3 yrs plan and said that the comprehensive warranty is to cover issues like these...so dont expect them to take your car back for this reason! B) I have written a letter to Lexus,( the ladies name is Gill) addressing the situation and have asked her to put in writing what Lexus will do if the rattle happens again. It has already had this problem twice, am waiting for the letter. c) Please bear in mind that the lexus dealers have no authority over decision making - If Lexus decides, they simply follow it. Dealers hands are tied. The most a dealer can do is part exchange your car!! d) I sought advice from the CAB and Consumer guidance, SMMT and they said that if the Company has compensated, then I simply cant refuse the car. I need to give them the benefit of the doubt.(which I did thrice!!!) e) Lexus IS 250's also have a problem with seat belts. Apparently few complaints have been made to Lexus and they are looking into this. So the next time if your seat belts get jammed, dont be surprised. I had to wait 10 days for the seat belt to be imported from Japan!!! I hope this helps. I had to go through a very difficult time with both lexus and the dealer, but atleast I am now happy that the car doesnt have any rattling sound - its perfect. I hope it remains the same throughout.....
  23. Hi All Many thanks for that quick response. It was very useful. Bazza, They gave me IS 250 SEL Auto (Red with Beige) for a week, then it was Silver with Black(Manual), then Blue with Beige....driven almost all the demos at Tunbridge Wells
