  1. Why dont you chase Mike on 01892 700500 or Andy on 01892 700400? Javeed
  2. Not even had a letter yet... When it does arrive it'll be Coventry!! Jamboo I have used the sat nav in France and Belgium, its superb! Javeed
  3. I have learned a good lesson from all this - never buy a brand new car/model, even if its a Lexus! Javeed
  4. I am pretty sure that the Dealer Principal is Mike Barter. Whilst he was the one who sold the car to me, it was his sales staff who got the commission(suzanne). Your first point of contact is Mike Barter, if only its a return then he would speak with his Boss(Motorline Group). Mike deals with complaints and other stuff. If you speak to Lexus GB, they would speak with Mike and Andy. I have gone through this horrible period early this year. Andy doesnt have any authority, he only goes by what Mike and Lexus GB says. Speak to Mike, he should be able to sort it out for you. Javeed
  5. Arkanoid I feel sorry for you - Dont forget, they are Toyota technicians..I have complained few times to Andy(service) when it came back after repair. My car had undergone extensive repairs since I bought it(Nov 05). I have complained to Lexus GB several times, guess what they did - gave me a three year free service plan! I should say it was Lexus TW(Andy) who took the intiative to replace the seat and dash. Whilst it took few weeks, its all sorted now! No rattles, its done 10000 miles. Lexus Canterbury & Lexus TW is the same group - Motorline. I personally dont think Canterbury will be any better. I suggest you speak with LexusGB and Andy (Service,TW)at the same time. One thing is for sure - unless you make noise, they do nothing. Good luck
  6. I got mine this morning - recorded delivery. (seat belt needs replacement and sat nav disc needs updating). It doesnt mention anything about the Ipod, says it will take 3 hrs to complete. Javeed
  7. I thought I was the only one - I took the car today to Tunbridge Wells to sort the squeaky seat(Drivers). Its only when taking corners.... Arkanoid - what did Lexus TW's say? I am hoping to get mine back this evening. Interesting this! Lexus replaced my Copassenger seat last month which cost them 5k apparently. Javeed
  8. As you can turn the adaptive headlight system (AFS) off could you not do this and treat them as normal headlights if unsure? Yes, I can switch the AFS off and treat them normal, but then I will need to buy headlight converters to drive in europe.
  9. Sorry to hear that - If it helps, when I first bought my IS 200, some stupid hit the rear bumper, I had to cover the whole thing with a big GB sticker(silly I know, but it was plastic) Hope you get it sorted soon Javeed
  10. Hi All Just a quick question, might sound silly - will I need a headlight converter to drive to France, the car is fitted with the intelligent adaptive headlight system (AFS). I phoned Lexus, but their answer was not very assuring. Many thanks Javeed
  11. Hi Jamboo Sorry, please could you throw more light on this one - its interesting, I have never come across this menu in the last 4 months! Also, is there any settings to change the female voice? Thanks Javeed
  12. Thanks for the feedback re: MP3s. I have got an Ipod, just haven't bought the cables yet. Javeed - I can't see how making the DVD player multi-regional voids the warranty so I assume you're refereing to the "one the move" mod. btw - just changed to Lexus after 7 years with Mercedes. In a word "chuffed!" PeeAyre - Sorry, I should have made it more clear, I was referring to "on the move" mode. Javeed
  13. Hi I agree with the above - MP3's are awful. I spoke with my dealer(TWells) regarding the DVD. He said its possible to do, but Lexus doesnt recommend this due to safety issues. I said to him that there is a guide on how to do it, he said Lexus doesnt recommend and hence the dealers wont do it. Also, if something goes wrong with your MM, you are not covered under Lexus warranty! The risk is yours..... Javeed
  14. Hi All I have had IS 200 for 18 months, didnt have any problems. The IS 250 have caused many problems, including rattles and seat belt. I agree with Crispy to some extent - new IS 250 owners to take responsibilty for their own actions. However, we all buy Lexus relying on its refinement and build quality. If it was performance and driveability, we all would be driving BMW's. Anyways, I have emailed these threads to Gill Want, couple of months before (There are 2 Directors for Lexus GB - Steve and Gill). They replied saying that they were unaware of these problems, and not reported. Both Steve and Gill makes the final decision and the next stage will be to report to SMMT(they will only assist in getting repairs done) Please find attached the correspondence I have had with Lexus GB Good afternoon Javeed Thank you for your e mail . Naturally I am sorry that the rattle has not yet been resolved. I have been updated by Lexus Tunbridge Wells and in fact responded to your e mail yesterday by post. Our Technical Department have asked the Lexus Centre to record the noise in order to assist their investigations. In the meantime, whilst we do appreciate your patience , we feel that we must point out this rattle does not affect the driveability of your car. That said, we are of course conscious that your confidence in the car is being affected, and please be assured that we will continue to work with Lexus Tunbridge Wells to resolve the matter, as soon as possible. Kind Regards Gill To customer.relations@lgb.lexus.co.uk cc gill.want@lgb.lexus.co.uk Subject Re: Lexus IS 250 SEL - GF55 VXB Hi Gill I write this letter with regret and disappointment with the way things have been dealt so far. I am now informed that the replacement of the seat will now take around 10 days(after waiting for 10 days). The car will need to be booked in again on Thursday for inspection and then the following week for replacement. I am really annoyed and surprised the way Lexus treats its customers. Firstly after being inconvenienced so much, do you expect the customer to drive the car for 20 days with the annoying rattle sound? You said to me that a rattle is not a sufficient reason to reject the car, but what if the rattle is consistent and is from all over the car? Secondly you said the warranty is to cover all these unforeseen circumstances, which I understand, but do I have to wait for 20 days and drive with the rattles? I didnt want to keep my car with the dealer - it has already undergone extensive repairs since last two months and it doesn't look like a new car anymore. Rather than just sympathising and feeling sorry for me, please would Lexus take some immediate action on this and rectify the fault quickly.I don't know as a customer where I stand with all this, and moreover you haven't responded to my previous email(below). I have a life to live for my own, not for Lexus! I am really fed up with all this. Regards Javeed To customer.relations@lgb.lexus.co.uk cc Subject Lexus IS 250 SEL - GF55 VXB Hi Gill I have spoken with your colleague Steve this morning regarding the various issues I have had with the new Lexus IS 250. I hope you recall our telephone conversation we had at Lexus Tunbridge Wells. Whilst I reiterated that I wanted to return the Car, you asked me to gain confidence in the car and compensated with a three year service plan (even though I was not after a compensation). I agreed to take the car back and give it another chance. Now, after all that, the car has had severe rattling sound from the doors. I took it back to the dealer and they booked it in for a day. The problem was not rectified and now they have booked it for another day. Gill, the inconvenience Lexus have caused during the last 3 months is way too much to bear. I said to you that I am not a customer looking for compensation, but would not like to be inconvenienced like this. Whilst I understand not all cars are perfect, I haven’t heard any customer being troubled so much. If we were to calculate the number of days I possessed the car since it was launched, you will hopefully understand the severity of the problem. What I do not understand is Lexus taking a cold approach towards this. The only consolation is that almost every IS 250 on the road has this rattling problem. There have been 78 responses to this thread and majority of them have this problem. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=28773 Not to forget, the communication from Lexus GB has been very poor. I have left messages several times during the last few months and I now have to rely on the dealers to ring the head office. Gill – You have been dealing with my case and you are aware of all the details associated with my car. I wanted to keep you in the loop with the ongoing series of problems with my new car and expect a written explanation to my letter. I regret to say but the whole experience of the new car has been very disappointing – Lexus GB staff have done nothing to make it enjoyable. I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience. Regards Javeed Hussain Dear Mr Hussain Thank you for your e mails received this morning. I am sorry that you are disappointed with my response to date. It is certainly not my intention to appear to be dismissive of your concerns and I apologise if this was the impression you were given. However I would like to draw your attention to my e mail of yesterday’s date which states that in our opinion, the rattle does not affect the driveability of your car. I was not referring to the seat belt issue which has now been resolved. I note your wish to escalate your case, and feel that I must clarify that as Senior Customer Support Co-ordinator, I am given the responsibility of dealing with all customer care issues on behalf of Lexus (GB) Ltd. and am fully empowered to director level to make whatever decisions I feel are necessary to investigate and resolve a case. Naturally, we do try to work with our customers and Centre network towards a swift and amicable conclusion wherever possible. However we do understand that there may be occasions where we are unable to meet your expectations. Given instances where we reach such an impasse, we fully support the process of independent arbitration. We would therefore refer you to the New Car Code of Practice monitored by the SMMT (Society of Manufacturers and Traders) Regulation and Compliance Unit. As a fully independent body, their role is to ensure we are acting responsibly and fulfilling our obligations under this code. In the first instance the Regulation and Compliance Unit can be contacted on 0870 751 8270. Otherwise they can be contacted by writing to www.smmt.co.uk or, New Car Concilliation Service PO Box 44755 London SW1X 7WU In the meantime, please be assured that we will continue to support Lexus Tunbridge Wells in resolving the rattle on your car. Yours sincerely Gill Want Lexus (GB) Ltd.
  15. Javeed How are your rattles now? I'm starting to get quite a few. I also have had to have the drivers seatbelt replaced as it jammed half pulled out. (Isn't the alarm annoying, beep.....beep....beep... for a while then it goes crazy beepbeepbeepbeep :tsktsk: :tsktsk: ). I'm expecting the other seatbelt to fail as well!! Sorry I'm also off topic. Hi Rattles are fine for the moment - Lexus replaced co-drivers seat last week, so rattle from the front is all sorted. Hope it remains that way....However if the rattles appear again, I shall pay a visit to my second home - Lexus Tunbridge Wells! :D Javeed I'm also with Lexus Tunbridge Wells! Surprise! Lexus TW said I am the only one with severe rattles, speak to Andy or Brian(the only people who know what they are doing). Hopefully will meet you soon at LTW!
  16. Hi Guys Rattles again! I had rattles several times but it was all different. Finally Lexus replaced the copassenger seat under warranty (£5000, costly error), so please ensure that its not the seats that is causing the problem) However, I had rattles from the dashboard(I am not sure what they did), but if time permits please ring Andy at Tunbridge Wells Lexus on 01892 700500 Javeed

  18. Jamboo - Most certainly, its a petrol!! :D ..It was not BP ultimate, just ordinary unleaded..I was not doing a fuel economy test, I was surprised ...the system says it can still run 13 miles...so just abt 45 mpg!! I am sure Lexus will be surprised with this figure.
  19. Sorry, I know this is the IS220d thread, but talking about fuel economy - I did cornwall - Kent(weekend) with one full tank!!!!638 miles, 70-80miles an hour, car has done 5000miles..That is 9.81miles per litre!! I am not exaggerating...... I was very impressed, not with my driving, but with the car..atleast some consolation after the rattles and seat belt problems..... Javeed
  20. Matty In response to your problems - the sound from the front door/clutch is to do with the cable, the dealer should be able to sort this in just 5 minutes. I just got it sorted last week during my lunch break, nothing to worry about. Rattles - that comes free with all new Lexus IS, sorry but this may take some while to get sorted. I am pretty sure Lexus will have a solution to this problem, it isnt new. Whilst its no consolation to your problems, I am sure Lexus will be able to sort this out for you. Javeed
  21. Jamboo - Red looks good, I had one for a week, is it black interior? Apparently there is a shortage for automatics, manuals are not a problem. The dealer said to me that Lexus underestimated the sales figures in the UK and US. They are currently trying to meet the enormous demand from the US market and hence the reason for delay. Another salesman said Lexus didnt want to be like BMW(Typical). It was targetted towards an exclusive class and hence they want to supply only in limited number. I personally think its one of those maketing techniques - lesser the supply, higher the demand and vice versa. Javeed
  22. Hi All I agree with the above, just to add on to that - you can reject a car only if there is a 'safety issue'(this is what Lexus told me when I first wanted to reject). Also, if you wish to reject the car, you need to stop using it immediately and return the car to the dealer. The worst scenario is if you are on a hire purchase agreement - returning the car is next to impossible. I went through this few months before, the statutory days(28) was not a problem for Lexus, as long as you informed them about your intention to return. Lexus will not take the car back if it is a rattle, alloys, music system etc.....In summary, anything that can be repaired/replaced! If you are not happy with the response from Lexus, you can complain to SMMT. The SMMT plays the role of an arbitrator, but will not assist with rejection of the car. They suggest to consult local CAB or solicitor. Also, somewhere in my head, I can remember that you have the right to return the car within 1000 miles or 30 days, whichever is earlier - I think this was only for approved cars. Well, atleast they offered this to me when I first bought an approved IS 200. Javeed
  23. IS 250 SEL - 34-36mpg & 38mpg(motorways) Javeed
