  1. But come on, would you REALLY want one of those oversized, extensions of your body? :)
  2. I'm not sure HIDs, memory seats and parking sensors are fripperies, I think that these items are now essentials on a car of this price, same way you wouldn't buy a £6k car without power steering......... There are a lot of things on the SE-L you could do without though, personally my ideal spec would be a Sport with leather seats and an auto box I was quoting when i wrote fripperies. i think these are on a lsiding scale essentials that help to protect your investment (HID, electric wing mirrors, parking sensors...)
  3. New one all the way for me - you can't beat being the first to drive it off the forecourt. Anyway the extras that the SE-L has over the SE are mere fripperies and you won't miss them! :) having bought mine from new as an SE I would now prefer a SE-L. For me the fripperies add to the whole feel. Rear sunshade, illuminated scuff plates, memory seats and reverse mirror, HID the list goes on.
  4. Set up a http//:www.photobucket.com account and post them there. Then follow the guides in these forums. Brian :) Cheers!
  5. I've got a pic of some nice alloys available to jap buyers from lexus. How do I post it on here?
  6. I saw these lcokable official lexus one's on a US dealer's page: http://www.jm-lexus.com/en_US/ Click PARTS then VIEW ACCESSORIES then selct IS on the left then scroll to the left I actually need to order some
  7. I like the look of the blue one - the red brake really sets it off too! What size do you reckon those wheels are?
  8. I've got a black is220 on 17" and after 3/4 months I think I'd like mine to be lowered somewhat as the car sits quite high. Also 18 or 19" wheels with black alloys (my friend said black would be slightly chavish) would help to finish the look. I don't to change the car's looks wholesale but would like a few subtle changes to be made. I've done some research and so far I haven't seen any parts catering for the new IS. Anyone else thought about modding their car a touch? http://my.is/forums/showthread.php?t=286132
  9. How about these for renderings? http://www.japanesecarfans.com/spyphotos/6....001.Mini6L.jpg http://www.autoblog.it/post/2064/a-detroit...coupe-cabiolet/ Lexus now appears ready to up the ante, and go head-to-head with the BMW M3, C-Class AMG, and Audi S/RS4 with this hot version of its IS sedan. This prototype has all the necessary sporty cues: An aggressive front air dam that appears to take inspiration from Lexus' LF-A sports car, subtly integrated fender flares, and a deep rear bumper with uniquely stacked dual-exhaust tips. From an appearance standpoint, this high-performance Lexus looks like it can hold its own against the competition. The most logical engine powering this beast would be the 4.6-liter V-8 introduced in the new Lexus LS460, which, if in the same state of tune, would mean 380 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque. Sources say that this engine could be tuned and tweaked for more power, but Lexus has been quite adamant that they won't get sucked into horsepower wars with their German competition. By the looks of this prototype, though, it looks like there is now another player in the factory tuner game.
  10. Agreed. It's pretty rotten if you ask me. I'm glad this doesn't share the Lex badge.
  11. ....without any Turbo kick at all - zero response from the engine... Jambo. By the way what are Carlack68 AIO/Long Life SG, P21S Carnauba?
  12. Whilst in the car I had centrally locked the doors. So when I got out and closed the door it was still lcoked (the engine was still running).
  13. Finally I've got an mpg to be happy about. I;ve been languishing in the 19-20 mpg range - almost all urban. But I filled her up yesterday and decided to start changing gears very early and basically let the car drive as opposed to me revving (which is how I like to drive) and loe and behold I've achieved 29-30 mpg all urban. I've been changing gears as follows: 2nd at 10 mph 3rd at 20 mph 4th at 28 mph 5th at 33 mph It might not be amazing and is certainly a slow, detached and boring way to drive but it makes my pocket that much lighter.
  14. I've actually been locked out twice. Both times I called the RAC but in the end the car opened. weird. one the first occassion i could open the boot but not the doors. both times I'd locked the car centrally as I'd be driving through a dodgy area. I hadn't switched of the engine as I was getting something out the boot and hey presto - sitting next to my car for 45 minutes! Needless to say I am now a bit more vigilant.
  15. 28 bought my is220D at 27. Wasn't driving four years ago.
  16. I haven't got one yet. I expect it's in the post...
  17. i don't like the sound of theat. i've got the Chips guy coming to have a look but I want the whole thing to look pristine. I might try to take a snap so you can the extent of it.
  18. Mine is black. Thanks guys I'll try them both. Obviosuly want a top finish but not top money if that's possible...
  19. From my own soon, and to be a lot lighter, wallet I trust you've first sorted out repairs for the owner whose parked car you damaged, before sorting your own car? Is this the Spanish inquisition? No their pile of rust has tougher body work than my flimsy IS. Not a mark on theirs, except my paint that is. Anyway back to the subject of this thread...
  20. From my own soon, and to be a lot lighter, wallet
  21. What did you scratch it on? Another car? yes
  22. Going round the tinest of roads (with cars parked round the bend!) I managed to scuff the rear left door and wheel arch. The lower half of the car is actually about 6 inches wider than the width of the car at the window height. The sratch doesn't actually look to severe but have had a quote from Jemco for £600! Needless to say i need to shop around, any suggestions, aside from avoid narrow roads! Cheers
  23. The proof will be to try at 70mph in 6th...it's worst then.... Does 65 in 5th count? It used to be a problem at all road speeds for me, and this has seriously improved things. Shame I wasn't really paying attention to how I moved it - just random wiggling (which I'm sure should normally only be carried out in the back seat..). I ahve the vibrating mirror too. i'll try to adjust it tonight. thanks for the tip!
