  1. Not sure about a body shop in Leeds but what type of kit have you bought and what did it cost? Looking at purchasing myself........
  2. Just read this thread, looks like the new IS alloys are not much better than the old. When will Lexus learn this problem is their achilles heal? http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...c=34527&hl=
  3. Wow, that was drastic, top results though! Mine has only slight OP, you have look really closely at the right angle to notice it. I don't think it's any different to any other factory spray job. The problem with black especially non metallic like Astral, is that you see evey little chip, mark and scratch. It's probably the most difficult colour to keep looking nice, even dust makes it look dirty!
  4. Looking very mean indeed Ad, make sure you post some more pics once you've cleaned her up!
  5. Thanks for the comments guys - just my luck, it's started to p*ss down! :tsktsk: The Meguires carbonara wax (step 3) really makes the water bead off the paintwork for months after the treatment, it really is good swag. I've tried all the rest, Autoglym, Turtle, Classe, PS21 etc, but this stuff wipes the floor with them. I know there's quite a few debates on LOC about the best products on the market, if you've got the money and time Zymol Japan Wax beats everything but is tricky to apply correctly and expensive. Meguires comes a close second and is relatively cheap and easy to apply. My last car was an Alfa 156 which won best in class at a local AROC meeting, what i've learnt about car detailing is that it's quite a science which needs plenty of research to find the best products and get the best results. I hope this starts another little debate on the subject, as alot of members probably believe they are using the best products.
  6. Spent a considerable amount of time and effort giving my Lex the Meguires 3 step treatment today. I have to say i was really pleased with the results. Meguires is the only mass market product i've used that comes anywhere near the results you get with Zymol glaze waxes. Let me know what you think...... :winky:
  7. Guess what..... still waiting !!! :tsktsk: Guess what?..........me too!!! :tsktsk: Latest delivery date late june or july, however after following up my claim for the 5th wheel replacement with LGB my local dealer has relented and has placed another order for 1 more. After venting my anger at them they wrote to me saying that my local dealer were adament the spare was in 'pristine condition' after inspection. I disputed this with them and after a second inspection by stevie wonder they agreed it was corroded. If you are prepared to stand your ground with these dealers when they try it on, you get what you are entitled to in the end. They have tried (without success) to duck out of all 3 warranty issues i've had with my Lex. My experience is, if your not in the beige trousers and sandal section of community, you don't mean jack sh*t to the dealers if youre not spending lots of cash there. Lexus Hull named and shamed Giving them another coat of laquer at your local alloy refurb will cost about £50 (all 5), money well spent as they'll las 3 times longer b4 corroding.
  8. Gutted for you fella, I know how this feels. Just mindless idiots probably jealous of a nice expensive motor or kids doin it for it some sort of kick? Either way, they deserve to rot! :tsktsk: I would get a quote from a local reputable spray shop, it needs to be repaired properly to keep the Lexus paint warranty. You may even need to have it repaired thru Lexus to maintain this, but it wont be cheap thru them. My advice is stay clear of 'Chips Away' type companies........
  9. Have you ried 3M tape, seems to stick most things. :)
  10. I does seem to happen after about half way through the CD's. Is it an easy job to remove the head unit to check the date? Will check the forum for tips. Is the date stamp on the back? Cheers.
  11. That's interesting, why should one dealer replace all 5 when my dealer is saying they only replace 4? Can anyone confirm how many it should be? If I get a bit of amunition to throw at them I can maybe persude them to change their minds on this. They also explained to me why there is such an issue with the corrosion on these........ Lexus uk spec wheels are exactly the same spec as Lexus Japan, the difference is that Japan does not dump thousands of tonnes of salt on their roads so they don't have the same issues with corrosion over there. Lexus could probably save themselves heaps of money if they changed the UK spec wheels with several coats of lacker. Just a thought.............
  12. Took my car to the dealers yesterday for replacement wheels and head unit under warranty. The wheels are the 17"multispoke type in dark grey and had started corroding. As i was handing my keys over i asked a couple of questions - Q Do you replace all 5 wheels as the spare is corroded as well? A No, only the wheels on the car (4) Q Do you replace the centre caps as they are corroded and chipped also? A No Q So you replace all the wheels then stick the old tatty centre caps back on, surely not? A Yep, but if you want i can order you a set which you will have to pay for. Received a phone call from them when i got back home (20 minutes later), We're sorry but the wheels we thought we had in stock are actually a different colour to yours. So if want silver ones we can do it today, if you want same colour we will need to order, will take a couple of weeks at least. I explained i wanted same colour, as the car is black and i thought that the dark alloys complement this. So still waiting for my replacements, over 2 months now. Just wanted hear from any other members who've had their wheels replaced on warranty if they got just 4 or all 5 replaced? Got the feeling if i had been wearing a designer shirt and beige trousers (like the guy in front of me) I would have received a more satisfactory and friendlier service from my dealers. PS they actually offered to throw in the centre caps for the inconvenience. Wow, Big deal!!
  13. Just had my head unit replaced under warranty cos it sometimes jumped and skipped when playing cd's. New head unit started doing the same on the way home from dealers, however it only seems to do it with 2 or 3 different cd's in my collection. I was thinking that it must have been the discs that were the problem not the player, then tried the same cd's in my player at home but they play perfect! Surely a brand new head unit cannot have exactly the same fault as the old? All CD's are original not CD-R, has anyone else had a problem similar to this with only a couple of CD's?
  14. Hope this helps........
  15. Reported the situation to ebay but no responce as yet. Don't expect them to do much though, same as Paypal. Just wanted a little revenge..........
  16. Just had another thought, the seller is actually selling a CD player for an IS200 on ebay right now. Check-out this link.......... Ebay Link Now, this has got me thinking, but i probably need the help of a few others to bid on it, he will sus my ebay id straight away. Maybe the winner could ask for his address to collect? I know he lives in the Birmingham area. If I had his address I would make the journey down there just to break his legs myself. Wouldn't get my money back but make me feel better. Does anyone else have a cunning plan how to F*ck him up?
  17. Good point, maybe a bit optimistic but probably worth a try. The point of starting this thread was to warn other LOC members of this fraudster, not to start hurling abusives across the net. I think the angry Pip should calm down a bit and we should all shake hands. If anyone is in the debt collecting buisness and thinks it's worth a try drop me a PM.
  18. What you on mate? This does not make sense, just because i bought a Lexus doesn't mean I have to buy the most expensive mods for it. It's like Lexus owners who use independants for servicing, not everybody chooses to get ripped off by franchised mechanics hourly rates. It's called freedom of choice. Keep your crap comments to yourself! go to your bank and ask about fraud protection. Also is it possible to report it to the police I will ask my bank about fraud protection, do hold much hope for the boys in blue though. Thanks for the advice
  19. I probably was a bit naive, certainly have learn't my lesson now though, probably the hard way. Will see how much Chris S wants for the full kit.
  20. Any pics of the body kit?? What colour / condition is it? Cheers
  21. My account is verified and so was the sellers, Paypal said he didn't qualify because his feedback count is less than 50 and his rating is less than 98%. Apparently it's all in the small print of their terms and conditions which is very easy to say in hind sight. Not able to claim through credit card either cos I use a debit card - just my luck! I'm pretty gutted but if this thread at least stops another member making the same mistake it's been worthwhile.
  22. This is for anyone thinking of buying a TRD kit off ebay from this fella........ Ebay Link Be warned, I paid him over 300 quid nearly 4 weeks ago but have received nothing. Refuses to answer emails or telephone, I've filed a claim but Paypal refuse to cough up saying the seller didn't qualify for Buyers protection. Then browsing ebay again and came across this............. Ebay link I'm 99% positive it's the same seller using a different id. The details and price are the same and I know his name is Aly cos I've spoke to him on the phone. Morell of the story is..........buy your parts from a trustworthy source like Chris S, bit more expensive but 100% reliable. Dont presume that cos you paid using Paypal you are covered against con men. Anyone else had any probs?
  23. Breakers yard it is then..........unless i get lucky like yourself. They sure are a nice touch to the interior! Even the foot rest to the left of the pedals is the same style.
  24. The sports pedals slip over the pedal itself. Haven't seen the standard pedals so not sure if they can be removed. If they can you should be able to slip them off it 2 mins. Iceman - just had a browse in your garage - very nice. Noticed you've bought these as a mod, £50 don't seem too bad, is the price correct and where from?
