  1. Actually, I have changed my view about Knobby..... He is really my Ex Wife.... She always had a dopey reply for everything too
  2. Knobb'ed..... Is that a small sewage plant that we see in your tracksuit bottoms?
  3. Knobbend, there is a world of difference between what you do IE cut and paste and understanding the information that is written..... There is a mountain of BS about car on the net and you do not have the understanding to be able to tell the info from the BS.... That car vid that you posted was a joke... It is designed for fools such as yourself who actually believe what those guys tell you....These vids are nothing more than entertainment, for us to chuckle at.... Now then kiddy, your answer to my question or I'll have to give you detention..
  4. We need to prove nothing, you are the one who tells us that he has converted is IS into a Supra..
  5. You haven't given us the answer to my question so we see nothing
  6. So, Knobby... You know sod all about sod all.....You carry out very basic maintainance (And yes Ray is right... You may be able to change a wheel but we doubt that you could change a tyre) and you pay a mate to do anything that is beyond your limited abillity.... Of course, some school children do have a car on their fathers drive to tinker with... One day you will get a driving licence.. Regarding the homework that I set for you... F minus.
  7. The design of a booze storage area on my patio is something that I need to incorporate when I build it.... The beloved wants a sauna and plunge pool but I'm not too sure about a tank of hypothermia
  8. That's a god looking fridge Ray.... It contains all of the essential food groups.
  9. Crikey! 26 pages and all that we have established is that Knobby has the right name..... Plenty of stuff for Ray to read when he gets out of his hotub...
  10. You mean that there was a topic on this thread? I thought we were just following the ramblings of Nobby and a bottle of white lightning
  11. Sorry Knobby, but you told us all that you can do what I do.... So I'm afraid that I'm not letting you off your homework and won't let you change the subject.... What was the problem and what is the solution?
  12. So tell us, what qualifications do you need to be a mechanic?
  13. Indeed, no degree needed to appreciate how they work but you would have to be a bit brighter than your 40 watts to beable to design them and more so to be able to design them to work together and extract the best from the engine... The stuff that you buy from tuning shops is all thought out for you....There is nothing that I can do that you can't?.... Here's a little project for you..... Problem, vehicle fitted with a Sanden SD7V16 air conditioning compressor is not cooling. Refrigerant weight is fine, blower is working fine, electomagnetic clutch is engaging, discharge pressure id 55psi, back pressure is 48psi....What is the problem, what is the solution?....I'll give you 'till the morning to google it
  14. My girlfriend can do most of that but she wears white cotton gloves to protect her nails.....This is very basic maintainance not making your small family car into a supercar......You talk the talk but it's all bollox
  15. To be honest, the IS is easier to work on than the Jeep.... Especially because I don't have to stand on steps to reach over.... Best thing to do is to buy an old banger that would be going for scrap and tinker with it... That's how I learned.... My pal and I used to race each other to remove the engines from our Mk1 escorts strip them down and rebuild them in the evenings after work though before we build an engine crane we used to lift the engines out using rope and a scaffold tube.... Then we taught ourselves to weld when we got our hands on a set of specifications for the bodyshells for The escort rally cars.....Then we started fittin bigger engines and larger carburettors Keep your eye out for a dead IS200 and tinker with that....Pull it apart, see how it works... That way you learn and still have a collection of spares for your good car..... I may have a knackered but driveable Jeep Cherokee going for very little cash in a few months
  16. PMSL......Yeah, stripping an engine out is just as easy as that.....Connectors never get filled with mud and jam, plastic clips never go brittle with heat and time, bolts and nuts never rust, studs never snap.... You are what is wrong with this country today, you think that because you saw it on the internet then it is easy and the guys who work on cars professionally are all low brow knuckle draggers... I'm sorry but with an attitude like yours you will never be able to work on your own car....Granted you may be able to convrt your car into a pile of spare parts but that is as far as you go.....Until you can walk the walk don't try to bulsh1t us with your 0-60 bollox....You have no idea..
  17. So what you are saying is that after a few hours in a flight simulator then you would be suitably qualified and experienced to fly for British Airways or playing on an Xbox means that you can go and take on Lewis Hamilton in an F1 car or you are ready for combat in Afghanistan.... Similarly reading a Haynes manual does not mean that you can then go and work on your car and get it right.... A manual gives you the information that you need provided you have a degree of experience....It tells you the order in which something should be dismantled but it doesn't tell you how to get to the nut that you cannot reach or how to find the vacuum pipe that you forgot to reconnect...... The internet is great for finding facts an figures but it cannot give you experience, the only way that you can gain experience is to get your hands dirty and do the job.....Only then will you discover the differences between vehicles that may appear to be similar. When you have demonstrated that you can take a car apart and rebuild it can you come and tell us what is what And yes, you statement is wrong and it demonstrates your lack of understanding, experience and abillity.
  18. So, Knobby..... What you are infact doing is spouting a load of numbers that you found on the internet and have no idea what they mean, how they relate to any given application or why indeed there are subtle but important variations in applications that on the face of it are similar..... You have never dismantled a machine, looked at it with a critical eye and said to yourself "Hmmmm, yes! I see why they did it like that"
  19. Actually, no you can't...... Knobby doesn't have a driving licence yet..Does he? I'm sorry it has taken so long to return to this post. I've been busy stripping off the cylinder head from my latest Jeep..... Bought it for a song, got a replacement head coming from Cornwall and will rebuild it and refit it and have a perfectly healthy and very good Jeep......Could you work on your own car?....On your own?...I think not
  20. That's simple.... The IS200 will have Matt, Ray and Transporter behind the wheel..... Your IS300 will have a Knob behind the wheel...... This on its own makes the IS200 infinately superior
  21. Folks, we can expect Knobbies silliness all the way to the end of the Easter school holidays...
  22. For the same reason that my van is not a taureg....For the same reason why a VW Golf is not a Seat Leon is not a Skoda Octavia... All share common parts but you have a small family car and a Supra is not a small family car....If you wanted a Supra, then you should have bought one...
  23. Don't cook the kids Ray!!! It's illegal in this country.....
  24. My van has the same engine as a VW Toureg.......Therefore my van is a VW Toureg.....Or a Volvo XC90
