  1. To be honest I had to do a double take on the title of this thread....Hadn't got my reading glasses handy..
  2. Yeah, tints are great for hiding the fact that you are shagging an ugly bird...
  3. Well let's hope so....Or hydraulic suspension so he can make it dance...
  4. Ha! And it will remain perfect all the way up to the first speed hump.....
  5. Nice colour but I think that it is time for him to buy some new springs....
  6. Make sure that you use antifreeze in your water else you'll have issues with corrosion in the engine.... As it has been said above, the water pump does suffer from leaks and so may well be worth a good looksee...
  7. Here you go bill... I don't think that bthey look too bad. The wheels were clean this morning....Honest! http://s1213.photobucket.com/user/barxthedog/media/wheel2.jpg.html http://s1213.photobucket.com/user/barxthedog/media/wheel1.jpg.html http://s1213.photobucket.com/user/barxthedog/media/wheel3.jpg.html
  8. I very much doubt that you will regret getting an IS300..... Black is a bugger to keep clean though but looks so nice when it is clean.
  9. Bill, as soon as I fit them to the car then I'll post up some photos but they are still sitting in the back of the jeep..... I'm still polishing my nuts!
  10. Just fitted the ISF centres to my newly powder coated 11 spokes and I am very pleased.... They do protrude about 3mm further out and you can see a little band of grey but they are all plastic and so shouldn't corrode like the metal originals.
  11. Is it bearing whine? or is it the gears meshing? I quite like the noise it makes the car sound like a machine and not an appliance.
  12. Ok Ian......But Knobby always seems to have the same answer for differing questions...I guess that he's getting bored in the Summer holidays.,,,,, :winky:
  13. Does the noise decrease when the air con is running? If it does decrease then it may well be the bearing on the aircon compressor clutch... if not then my money is on the tensioner bearing.... As said there should be no play in the tensioner but to adjust the tensioner you losen the bolt in the centre of the tensioner and adjust on the long bolt, so if the centre bolt is lose then that may be your issue......It is a ten second job just to get a spanner onto the bolt and give it a nip, if the bolt is lose, then it will be obviously lose so you don't neet to tighten it 'till you turn purple..... If the bolt is tight then it will be your bearing on the tensioner......
  14. Figure what? I'm not the one who suffers from terminal confusion..
  15. I believe that you may be referring to the Welsh band formed in 1966 that had a hit with the Roy Wood composition "Half as nice"..
  16. Of course the Skyline will be better than the IS, Nissan took a different approach and produced a totaly different car using lots of electronics to keep the car on the road
  17. Of course you don't miss a manual box Knobby.....Three pedals confuse you.
  18. It is the same when drivers who have grown up on front wheel drive cars move to BMW or mercedes. I grew up on Dolomite Sprints Rover SD1's, Capris, Cortina V6's and a freaky weird Moggy Minor V8......The IS is a very very stable vehicle and doesn't kick out unless I want it to
  19. There is very little advantage to trying to remap a naturally aspirated engine as remapping usually changes the settings to give more boost on the turbocharger with corresponding fuel changes.... As it is all you can do with an IS is to dump more fuel into the engine, adjust the timing or to alter the operation of the variable valve timing.... Very few benefits for lots of potential damage
  20. I can't really comment on which brand of tyre you should buy as I have only just taken off the tyres that were fitted at the factory (Michelin Pilots) the originals were very hard wearing but hard wearing usually equates to being a little more slippery in cold wet conditions but I have not hat an issue with the handling..... Chances are your issue is that you are still driving your car like a front wheel drive where you could apply loads of power whilst actually in the bend....IE slow into the bend and apply the power in the bend......Do this in your car and the rear end will break away.... With your car you can go into the bend quickly but don't apply too much power until the car is in a straight line.....
  21. Ha ha Yeah Nobby! And my pals 1965 Humber Imperial would be bang up to date if he fitted a modern enine, radial tyres, airbags, blue tooth enabled dvd radio, blah blah blah. As it is, he has a super smooth 3 litre straight six (Yep, as smooth as a lexus) that weighs as much as my lexus, huge soft leather armchars that you just sink into, two heating systems one for the front, one for the rear with an air fed demister for the rear window, electrically operated selectable ride stiffness and aircon that blows out snow on humid days....The point is although the car is an antique he loves that car and it makes him happy
  22. Ha! That is the point that Petay was making... The Golf is probably better in every way when it comes to technology but it is still a dull econobox.
  23. Well by modern standards, the bodywork is overweight, the boot is too small, the legroom in the rear is cramped, the air conditioning varies temperature wildly, the autobox is out of the ark and a half decent golf diesel will leave the IS for dead... But modern cars are built by accountants and focus groups, they feel nice while they are new but they will rape your wallet at every opportunity....What you save in fuel, you will lose in repairs....I don't really want to be conneted to my car by bluetooth.. The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to block up the drains.
  24. Nearly all new cars are technically better than the IS.... More toys.more power, better handling and certainly better on fuel but to me the IS is just a nicer car, it is a car that I always enjoy getting into..
