  1. yeah so I got my kazama exhaust fitted yesterday by a local shop, after pathetically trying to fit it myself (with the help of a buddy of mine) and miserably failing... ... damn, that thing is big!!! I've never realized it just by lookin at the pics.... I do love the rumble at low revs and I'm sure it's gonna take a while before I switch on the car stereo again, but damn.... it's BIG!!! Huge is the word, I guess I was hoping to have something more subtle, especially if you consider that here in italy this is way illegal... I'm driving around like a wuss cause I'm afraid local police will track me down and that would suck to have the car impounded inthe first few hrs.... anyhow, main reason for this topic? well, I have to tell you that fittin the exhaust did improve the gearchange smoothness, especially 1st-2nd.... I've read this before on this forum but could not believe it, as I thought the 2 items §(exhaust and gearbox) were totally un-related, but I got proven wrong... before kazama: 1st wrom! - clunk!!! - 2nd wroom... after kazama: 1st WroooOM -2nd WRROOOOOOMMM so all in all... very happy! Hope it last ;)
  2. hello I'm bringin up this old topic as I was thinking about a set of koni yellow for my car but doesn't look to be a popular choice over here... I understand you're not in GB so maybe you can suggest me a place where to get them in DE maybe? so far I've found this koni yellow they should be pretty good :winky: what ppl think about koni's?
  3. man thanks for that, I was goin crazy pm'ing everybody whose name started with "jase" :D I've seen that thread, don't think the ecu in the RS is anything like the IS but who knows, those guys in NZ and AU seems to have some experience. Thank you again for the help
  4. thanks for the hint. :winky: I'll do that.
  5. ... on a second thought tho, still got a few missing :( don' tknow how far can you stretch yr knoweledge, but... any idea where I can find these? - a/f signal - VVT-i signal - RPM signal I seem to need + and - a lot to ask I understand. Again if anybody knows...
  6. :D That's the one! Great job, thanks Bazza:baaa: !!!!!!!
  7. hi everybody I've spent the last few hours searching this forum nd the web for the ECU pinout so badly needed in order to install the camcon on my IS200... I'm sure that I've seen it somewhere on this forum but haven't been able to dig it up anymore... If someone has it at hand, or remotely remember where to find it, please drop a quick reply, thanks in advance, appreciate it. :)
  8. I haven't installed it yet as it has not arrived to my door, so technically I shouldn't even talk about it without having some first hand experience . I therefore apologize if it sounded like I'm misleading or givin bad advices - I was merely stating what I've learned/aquainted in this and other toyota sites, as before buing the lil' box I tried to gather as much info as possible. apparently the guys at TDI know how to tune the camcon in a decent time, and I'm glad you Robin had the luck to deal with them. But not everyone can have access to the same resources... Maybe we should also point out that the gain on the RS200 are way more noticeable than on the whimpy IS200, but still I'm talkin earsay.. I'll see what I can do with mine, just wanted to help show all the pro and cons of this mod.
  9. I definitely agree except for the tuning cost of the camcon. I guess it all depends on how much (or how little) you are going to pay for dyno time... I guess the $$$ can add up to a relevant figure before you get a decent setup, and if you consider the HP it's gonna give you, you might find yourself deluded. Hey, don't get me wrong, I just bought one! :D
  10. that's pretty much the route I'm takin righ tnow... ordered the Kazama & the camcon, workin out some induction mod (CDA clone) and we'll see if i can tell the difference! really, I'm not after big hp, I'd just like to have the car respond a little quicked. :)
  11. yeah this is just the proof, you get what you pay for... I don't know, I'll just leave it on until it breaks, honestly I cant fork out 200+ eur right now, other plan's on the way that involve riding height ;) This post was mainly for cheap ***** guy like me who think to find a bargain on the net, but end up being -not- satisfied... :(
  12. hi it's me... the other day I was lookin for a sport grille for my IS, asked a few question on the forum also... then I guess while I was drunk I decided to go on ebay and see if somethin was on... :o found a carbon fibre grill, loved it, bought it. price? to shoot myself in the foot, as I paid over 140 € with postage and custom fees (did I mention it was from Hong Kong?) quality? it sucks, big time. Compared to the original grille it look like is made of cardboard and chewingum fitting? even worse, as I struggled all morning to make it fit... finally succeeded (somehow) but not really sure how long will it last, as it all look like it's gonna break in a minute. also left a big gap between the hood and the grille itself (watchin from the front) I've added some pics for your viewing pleasure (phone quality, sorry) All in all, don't buy this product - that's my suggestion. Have a good day -edit- tried to change the subject in "carbon fibre grille" but don't know how, maybe some mod can help...
  13. hi folks having just bought one of these unit from Dave at Prolex :D (along with the kazama exhaust that ppl rave about, and having some plan about trying out an intake setup with a CDA kinda thing) but really run out of money now so for a while I won't be reaching down the pocket and that means not a chance to have this thing dyno-tuned for a while... yet, I would like to start off with somethin because I don't like the idea of having the little blackbox standing in my car doin nothing, so.... here's the big question.... does anybody of you have some basic figure to input to the camcon just to get me started off? I would like something to play with for a while, and I know really few ppl tried this on a NA is200 (that would be my case too) but if somebody has some setting that I could just try it woul be real good. I've been checkin the australian site as well but not much luck there... I'm all ears... pls help!
  14. hey :) bumped up the topic as I've just had my first transaction done with nick and his gaugeplate and I have to admit is good to deal with people so nice. all my respect to nick, and thanks to the guys who pointed me in the right direction. :winky:
  15. Thanks guys! very helpful as usual :D
  16. hi chips, yes you're right about the spacer thing, it's some sort of adaptor that should be put between the oil filter and the engine. The adaptor is provided with 2 "holes" where you can insert 2 sensor, typically temp and pressure. I've found useful info on this subject reading this guy's guide here. Strange thing is, it seem sthat sometimes a smaller filter comes with this adaptor, so that the overall lenght remain the same. Somewhere else I've seen this adaptor sold w/o any filter... wonder if I'm gonna have any lenght limitation in the engine bay, i.e. the stock filter is gonna touch / rub something? well i just might give it a try and see if it works out... I'll check the site you suggested, might find some other solution, thanks! :D -edit- just checkin the "gauge place" I've found they're also selling the so called "sandwich plate"...
  17. allright, so... I apologize if this has been discussed already but couldn't find anything relevant with the search feature... anyhow, I wanted to add some extra gauges, nothing fancy, just some cheap oil temp and maybe an a/f meter, just for the fun of it... question is... where do I plug the oil temp/pressure in? I don't wanna make a mess and I've read somewhere else that, on a lot of cars, this device comes in really handy . Does anyone know if this can be fitted on our car? This looks right on the money, but not really sure it can be done. help
  18. hm.. so how's the new intake coming along ? still in the developing stage? :)
  19. are you referring to the classic mod? :)
  20. that sounds good, I'm sure you got yourself a lovely car - to me, it was more about the 2 yr warranty coverage, and what else... .... yeah, the car looked just amazing :P and I felt in love right away !!
  21. thought so, mr. morse... :winky: mr prolex, you have a pm
  22. timing belt should be replaced at 150k KM, at 110K they'll check for signs of wear. Car actually is slightly over 100k - KM, that is. And no, wasn't replaced by previous ownr - but the car has full lexus history, and honestly that's why I paid that extra money to get it from the dealer instead of a private party. But that's just me.
  23. hi again, lot's of new topic by me, but really, I just have question that I haven't found an answer for in old threads... anyhow, a cold air intake for my car... prolex one won't fit - I believe - as the abs thingy is in the way. I've seen somewhere a picture of Monster-Mat's car (an old one, I suppose) where the filter & pipe sat nicely on the right side of the engine bay (lookin from the outside) but I don't know if it was custom made or what. I then come across THIS but really can't tell if these ppl are mixing up the altezza with the IS... anybody ever tried this AEM Short Ram Air Intake System - 22-464 ? The page says "parts for IS200", but you're never too sure... ;)
  24. hey Mr! thanks for the advice, I'll bring this subject up to the mechanic when I'll take her in for the next service... :D just as a reference, the other day I called lexus dealer about this noise, they told me to bring the car in the shop. Spoken with the chief there, took the car for a hal an hour drive, come back to the shop; result: this is the normal noise of the 1f-ge engine, or that's what the guy tells me I really don't know if I should trust the guy... the car has a 2 year warranty but I don't really feel like finding out the hard way what does it cover and what not... :duh: anyhow, thanks again for the hint B) raoul
