  2. hello all, I know these days ppl just get a supercharger and that's is they don't bother with some poor-man mod, but since I haven't found the 2600 eur to give to prolex, I still play around with my camcon and pretend that I'm happy with it :P So, after a few months of daily-drive testing, I have chosen the map that I find works better for my car, the one that gives me better feeling. Now, before anyone shoot at me, I have to clearly state that this is not the result of several dyno tuning session, so no result-sheet available. This is just the best (for me) map, been using this for 4 weeks and no problem from the engine so far, it doesn't rip the asphalt but I'd say I can feel the difference, much more than I did after installing the Kazam catback + k&n filter. So I thought I'd share it on the forum, since when I bought the camcon I haven't found anybody that could help me with a base map to start with; maybe someone can use this one :winky: so here it goes, hope it helpes someone. rpm CAM a/f ratio 0 0 -1 500 0 -1 1000 0 -1 1500 0 0 2000 4 0 2500 8 0 3000 10 1 3500 6 1 4000 2 2 4500 0 2 5000 0 2 5500 0 2 6000 0 2 6500 0 2 p.s.   7. hi was wonderin, after seein the video, if you got some sort of lsd installed... when I try somethin like that i always end up spinning the inner tyre and that's it... maybe I just dind0t try hard enough, I don't know..

I still have the precats on, but the smell it wasn't really a smell... more like when you cook metal, like you put the teapot on the rage, but there's no water in it. :) Detonation shouldn't be a problem with only such a small adjustment on the a/f ratio, but of course I'm just speculating because I don't have any testing/measurement to back this up... me goin soon ebay shopping for colder sparkplugs - that should help :D r
  9. hi! i think the IS doesn't have the MAF, but uses a different system... well I never trust my memory :duh: , but I remember literate people on this forum claiming it was useless to clean whatever sensor the IS has... but I'm sure somebody will come along with more specific terminology
  10. cheers Aaron :D yeah well i guess i should avoid this, especially considering I just managed to quit smoking a year ago :) you see I just figured that an EGT meter can tell you a lot about the fuleing of your car, i.e. lean mixture=higher temps... the question was just if one can tell just by the "nose gauge" :P I shall quit this mumbling.... :D
  11. well i don't know if anybody can follow me on this one... so, I get back home after a few kms of fairly hard driving (red line few times) on a nice winding road... camcon is on, fuel setting is -2 on 4, 5, 6 and 7 thousand rpm I remind you people I've never got it properly tuned, so I just play with it any now and then... well the thing is, once I got back home, I jump off the car and "sniff" the exhaust fumes... and I have a distinctive impression it smells like very hot metal! Now I don't recall this smell after driving with the camcon off, so the big question is: do you think is the camcon making the difference, making the car running lean therefore with high gas temp? I know this can be correct, but I would be surprised somebody could tell just by sniffing the fumes.... am I crazy?
  12. Sorry mate it was a guy from New Zealand. Have a read Here hello! :) I have installed a camcon, piece of cake actually, just a bif of sweaty hands during splicing - I was afraid to cut the wrong wire, felt like I was dismantling a bomb... everything went fine and the lil box is properly connected and working - I suggest to get the extension harness because the provided wire is very very short... instruction are provided on which pin you haev to tap on, so no worries there. Unfortunately i can't comment on the functionality of the equipmetn, as I ran out of founds... I have tried some basic setting on the VVTi side, and it does feel like it pickus better, but as I said I haven't tuned it, so take my words for what they are. ciao

I doubt very much if you will see much of a benefit unless you go for forced induction could be... honestly not many IS 200 with camcon around, but I've been readin a lot here and there, and it seems to have done good with other toyota engines... now, I know crap about cars and stuff, but I've decided to give it a chance and for the kind of performance I'm after, this might just be my cup of tea.

  20. @ i_love_my_IS200: it's just another gauge, if connected to the stock o2 sensor is pretty much useless - so I'm told, but wanna find out myself... @mr. Morse: i will soon be hookin up my camcon and have it dyno tuned, still would love to see if I can keep an eye on the vital sign with this af meter, i.e I crank up a little the af ratio and actually see a difference on the dial... the whole purpose here is to leave me room to play w/o going for the not-so-cheap wideband... still the q. remain unanswered... anybody know to which o2 sensor shall I tamper with? and where's the easiest spot to reach the wire? cheers :winky:
  21. hi roadrash and thanks for your reply :D I think I didn' t ask properly, as I was talking about the OEM o2 sensor... not planning to install a wideband just yet... so all I'm looking for is to find out if there's any wire/pin on the ecu or nearby that area that I can splice a wire into. :P
  22. so, here I am, sittin sad on my desk realizing how clueless I am wanted to install my toy a/f meter, I though "well I just hook it up to the standard o2 sensor" but then the question arise... which one? I suppose is the one after the cat, but I don't like the idea of running a wire from the dashboard all under the car, and I'm sure te signal must be somewhere in the ecu, but where? and why am I so clueless? :o
  23. very much. you can't change / choose a different size of tyres, for instance, so no 20's here... :duh: might be that the reason why pimp my ride international didn't have an italian episode.... back on topic, it's just a shame because I actually feel the car driving better than before and I'd hate to see them take it away from me -finger crossed driver-
