  1. sooooo.... this has been something i've been thinking for quite some time now.... 3 years that I own my IS200 and I'm quite happy with it, even though a few times I'd wish I had that 100 hp extra under the hood... anyway, i now feel i'd like to change... really is more the need of a change, not necessarely the whole car, just something new.... so here's the drama going on in my mind at the moment: -keep the lexus (always, always loved the shape of it!) and add some sort of forced induction system, trying at least to keep up with all those golf TDi (I'm sure a compressor won't be enough for that) passing me everyday left and right, so many i don't bother to count them anymore but again i'm not a boy, i don't race or do anything dangerous on the street, i would really only like to feel the car more... reactive, if you get what i mean -sell the lexus and get one of these ... older, ugly (especially compared to the lexus), i'm sure 1000 times more prone to break down, possible source of problems, yet with that muscle-car aura you can't ignore. also, only a few mere made, so probably going to increase in value instead of depreciating. money would be pretty much the same, if i take into account all the €€€ i'll have to spend on the IS to make it go a "little" faster. you also have to consider that in italy modifications are not allowed and if i get into an accident with a charged IS, it could mean serious trouble for me... buy I like the way the IS looks.... I don' tknow... so confused. can't make my mind up! what do you guys thinkn?
  2. I have recently noticed on ebay some - apparently - good stuff for the 1g-fe engine, don' tthink that I've seen any topic on that in the forum, so I was wondering if anyone knows/had a chance to try the products from this company here not cheap I know, but doesn't look that bad, does it? If one would go the turbo route, will these piston be up for the job? I don't see anywhere being written they are decompressed...
  3. Hello! as many will tell you, the is300 manifold will NOT fit on the is200. Unfortunately not easy to find one for our car, afaik only prolex, TDI and a company in australia (DKNE) make one fot the 1g-fe engine. Not a cheap otion, i'm afraid.
  4. uh! does anybody know if this used to belong to some member in here?
  5. Hello! don't mean to derail yr topic, but what kit from no-limit motorsport are you lookin at? can' tfind anything fo rthe lexus on their website....
  6. hey appreciate yr reply, thanks! would love to see some pics cheers
  7. Hello! I was wondering if any of you has bought/fitted one of these ebay item do they have good fitment, how's the overall quality, do they need some retrimming... the usual questions... sorry if this have been covered already, but I see a lot of ppl here having the TTE lip fitted, but really like this one more, at least from the pic on EPR site... any info appreciated, thanks ^_^
  8. thanks Stevie got to see it all now that I'm home, thank for the info.... wanted to do something myself, but seeing all the things that should be checked and done, I'm not so sure about the DIY now.... I'll probably end up taking it to a shop... out of curiosity, where did you find that list? cause I'm pretty sure I couldn' tfind it on the owners manual....
  9. Hi Steve thanks for the quick help, can't see pics at work, will check it out tonite at home! cheers
  10. Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows what the 120k km service involves... oil, filters, plugs... ok. what about diff oil and gearbox oil?
  11. here we go! 1.asi 2.abbott 3.lexusIT c'mon guys 2 more and we're rollin!
  12. yup, that's what I thought.... count me in. I'll have a set.
  13. Hello! I wonder if a set of these can be shipped to Italy, price is tempting.... shall I ask Japspeed directly? I would - of course - like to be part of the GB....
  14. Hi Jens, where you'r egettin your turbo from? is it a custom thing, or one of them kit available in the US?
  15. :( feel so sorry for both asi and patrick, as someone else just said it's not a matter of the paid price, but the way it was advertised. really sad to see that both bigger advertiser on LOC from the old days, are sooner or later going down the same road. 'bout the chargers, maybe could be a good idea to pop over to euroLOC and see if the other "kit" have been bought by some members, and what's their opinion on the purchase?
  16. Hey Patrik, do you mind me askin if you ever got yr hands on that last supercharger? :)
  17. well now I understand everybody here is tied up with theTTE supercharger, bolt-on power, safe and reliable and such... but jeffrosie here have found some turbo kits that I wasn't even aware they existed, and it seems nobody even care, or made a comment? I admit I'm a noob, but I'v ebeen around long enought to know that turbo route most of the times means trouble with the 1g-fe, still I'm pretty surprised nobody commented on these turbo kits... considering the price, compared to the tte kit now sold-out (missed out also on the last five, my bad....) it just doesn't seem such a bad idea! or maybe I'm misjudging/missing some important thing?
  18. yes, another thread on engine swapping... now I have to say this is just out of curiosity, cause I don't have not the money nor the technical knowledge to undertake such a task.... still I was thinking the other day that afterall the 3s gte should be pretty common (celicat gt4?) to source in europe, compared to the supra engine (don't think many supras were sold in europe, outside england at least) done a bit of research on the forum and dug out only an old thread from monster mat, it seems the original idea embraced the possibility to drop a 3s gte in the car, then I guess things have gone different (that was really a long time ago) so the question to you is: would it be easier to do a 3sgte swap, compared to a 2jz supra swap? afterall it seems there's plenty of t20 celicas running over 350/400 hp and certainly I think most ppl would be happy with let say 300hp? Dunno, may be a silly question... pls dont flame!!
  19. well as I said it could be just me, that I am a total loser when it comes to this kinda stuff... :( but seriously I doubt I'll have the guts to try and use one of the techniques described in the drift bible in order to make my car slide on a bend, on the other hand I would be happy with much, much less than that... Carles, don' t you have any video of yourself going crazy with yr IS?
  20. I know! :D and to think that up until las week I had some very old bridgestone with no threads left... I guess I'm just too much of a slow driver! :D
  21. oh, can you actually drift with your (I assume) stock engine/power? also your is an automatic, somehow it think drifting (or better call it tailsliding) would be... much harder without lot's of torque... i'm just honestly curious, because my car feel so underpowered and just to make the tail go out a lil bit really takes lot of effort... maybe I should have it dyno'ed, i'm starting to thinkg I'm on a dead engine or something...
  22. should've gone for the same route I know, but bets price I could find was around 1000 eur for the combo... don' tknow, just though that was a bit steep!
  23. are you gonna have some fun? :D I think you need some extra power, though... not sure the 155 hp willtake you very far...
  24. I really think as someone said the shorter spring are putting more stress on the worn out shocks and that' s definitely not good. I've heard all this stories about shorter springs being ok with oem shocks, bu that obviously don't take in account situation where the shock are on the way out and this extra stress just take the last bit off of them. all in all, learned something today... should've gone for a better combination than this.
  25. well the car is a 2002, odometer reads 113k kms. don't think shocks have never been changed, but didn't seem that bad with original springs...
