Hi I want to hard wire a satnav into my mk1 gs300 but need an easy place to link into a power supply, has anyone got any suggestions. My cig lighter socket in the front does not work and I think it would mean I have to take out the tray to fix it which I dont even know how to do! Therefore am thinking about just hard wiring the wires for a satnav by wiring in an additional cig lighter source then plugging the factory stanav cable into that whihc could be hidden away somewhare, then I just feed the factory wire around the dashboard etc.

yes that still works ok, any ideas whats wrong? also every time I turn the engine on with the wipers not turned on the wipers still do a few swipes up and down about 3 inches very weird. Whats wrong, has anyone experienced this.

Hi my 1996 GS300 Sport has developed a strange intermittent problem with the front wipers, when I set the stick control to intermittent (first click down) the wipers move up and down about 4 times for only say 3 inches then nothing. Once I flick the switch to on full the next click down on the stick the wipers work fine. I have noticed however that the wipers do not wipe to the full extent that they used to meaning not to the side of the drivers side windscreen they stop around 2 inches short of where they used to. Nothing is different when the wipers are positioned in snow position or standard position (slightly raised or lowered when off) It also makes no difference when I move the frequency control, they just dont come on in the first position. This fault developed about a week ago, the strange thing is that sometimes they work ok and I do not have this problem all the time. From a previous post a long time ago I noticed the slight up and down movement 3 inches or so for a number of times but back then nobody knew why this was happening. Does anyone know what is going wrong with my beloved GS?

Ebay seller hve them sometimes. In the end I had problewms with my two back boxes it was cheaper to have a custom stainless cat back system made up whihc I got from a good place local to me for around £600 a very good deal.

Thanks for the advice i will take a look over the weekend when I next get some time. I know that the rear cig lighter is still working for sure as I tried my charger with that and it was still working so it may be the broken socket as you describe. I can remember if the clock was working now so will have to check. I will update you on how I get on.

Hi I popped in a phone charger the other day and now my front lighter does not work in my mk1 gs300 the rest of the console is fine ie the radio and aircon pods. I have had a problem in the past where a different item blew toat fuse which seemed to power all of the equipment in the centre console. i am a bit stuck now. What coul dbe wrong. Is there a seperate fuse just for the cigarette lighter aswell and where is it exactly?

I am pretty sure that if you have the correct model fob and follow the procedures in the guides that are in this forum then you will be able to re-programme the other fobs. I have done it before with a fob that was always kept as a spare as I think after a good while they lose their memory/ settings. It should be fine if you just follow the instructions on the site. search for the threads and you will have your answer.

Hi iI have a MK1 GS300 sport with the 10 inch rears its costing me a bomb to keep it in tyres so considering changing the rims. Will a standard 16 inch supra set of rims 8j front 9j rear fit my mk1 gs300? they have 225 40 16 tyres and 245 40 16 tyres on them right now would that suit my car ok?

That light is not an engine warning light. It is a brake warning. If your brake fluid is low it could be causing the light to illuminate. Check your fluid level and if it is low try to find out why it is low. Most likely cause is (hopefully) just pads wearing. As dave says its the brake warning light looks like ( ! ) on the console. If its not fluid or pads have a look at your handbrake signal wire as well might be a loose connection Thanks guys thats good to know think fluid just needs a top up. Nothing major everything is running mint now.

The light that comes on is the red one on the dash with the " ! " symbol. What does that mean? What could that be?

Hi I have a mk1 gs300 and in the last couple of days I have had the engine warning light come on when I am braking quite hard just for a second then it goes off again. its only happened in the last couple of days. any ideas what it could be. recently I have had new rear tyres fitted, topped up the oil but its going for an oil and filter service today and fitted a injen air filter. would any of those cause the issue. the car runs mint and little things like this really bug me any ideas help please!

GS300 sport mk1 245 40 18 Michelin Pilot Sport 2 Fronts 275 40 18 Falken 452 on rears sound as a pound. I did get around 19k out of bridgestone rears last time I was impressed with wear but I dont race around. Very happy with current setup in wet and dry.

Very odd,was the wipers on the night before? my first point of call would be the relay,cheepest and fastest thing to change. Wipers not on the night before may be a relay otherwise it seems like a mystery. Anyone else know what this issue is?

Recently when I start up my Mk1 GS the wipers move from retracted position hidden under the lip of the hood to standard position for a few swishes then this stops is this a sign of a problem? I am not using the wipers at the time and I know about the switch on the stalk. Its like they are just moving up and down 3-4 inches then stopping on startup after a couple of seconds. I am assuming it is some kind of signal fpor a fault. They work perfectly and are not sticking. Anyideas anyone? Its bugging me.

In my opinion: MK1 Sport - A Classic - its got a great look even today. MK2 - Great car not such good looks. Mk3 - Hmm Nice, but a classic?

Hi managed to find a replacement CD changer and amp although I didnt need the amp as the new one I have fitted into my mk1 GS300 still has the same issue. Can anyone help me, when I turn on the radio Cd or tape the speakers in the back of the car are very very quiet and the big speaker in the middle of the parcel shelf too. I dont have the rear faded out and the amp seems fine as I have tried 2x amps and they both return the same issue, C changer works fine and I dont think it would be a problem there though any suggestions, I cant think if what it might be. Front speakers work perfectly, loud and clear sound the rears are just pathetic you cant make out hardly any sound and they buzz a bit, any suggestions.

Search some of my other posts I had one key when I started off with my lex and it was not the master, Lexus can sort this out for you even if you dont have the four or five digit kety code for them to work off. I got a new master key cut and a new fob just incase, fobs can be easily programmed in yourself if you search the site there are guides. you will know if you have a master key if it also opens or locks the boot/ trunk lid and glove box, if your key does not then whatever you do do not push in the locking mechanism to the right hand side just under the steering wheel as you will lock yourself out of the boot. hope this helps.

LPG fitted in 2006 no problems ever no noticeable performance always starts first time, go for flashlube valve protector if you want to be 100% assured of a protected engine too and i would opt for a prins multipoint system they are by far the best, you get what you pay for but its a judgement you should take considering how long you want to keep the car or how many miles you will be doing, overall car condition etc. I put it in mine as I found a pretty mint mk1 sport and was planning on keeping it for a while.

I will take the cd changer and amp, let me know how much you want for them if they work fine. Ian I will let you know ian if we buy the car back. ths insurance lot might not let us. We are looking to possibly sell the whole car as a job lot but if we split it i will let you know...all the bits you are after work and are still ok will let you know Vee Thanks you could take the changer out and keep it to sell anyway if you want as they would not bother with stuff like that in a valuation.
