  1. I'd sooner not alter the alarm set-up as I've just had it verified for insurance cover (Cat 1 type). I've added a mod for self retracting mirrors on a past FTO with just a relay, but I'm not sure of the wiring on the Artiso. I also can't seem to find where the reversing bleeper is on it either to cut the wire!! As you say people do it on the Supra and other Japanese imports - so it is technically possible.
  2. Just I tend to forget the mirror retract button and then someone clips them, so I'd prefer this automatic when the ignition goes off. The reverse bleeper just doesn't seem necessary and yes around here there are a few single track roads that you invarably end up giving way to oncoming vehicles and reversing for ages.
  3. Can anyone advise how to: (1) Disconnect that annoying inside bleeper when you select reverse gear. I could understand if it was on the outside to warn pedestrians but most drivers are inteligent enough to spot the scenery going backwards rather than forwards!! (2) Make the wing mirrors automatically self retract when the ignition is switched off (rather than pressing the normal button). If anyone has any electrical wiring information or can point me in the right direction I would be grateful.
  4. I've a photo (if I can find out how to post it on here) of the family Lexus LS 400 after 130+ head on smash when an on-coming car had a blow out and hit us - we all got out to tell the tale. I reckon this is the safest car to be in. Every body panel crumpled, every bit of plastic broke, and all the safety pins and gizmos did their job, but everyone inside was cocooned from the impact. Brilliant job done by those Lexus engineers.
  5. Yes - pencil me in for any local meeting.
  6. Old maybe - less of the fart please. Life also begins at 50 - as you get much cheaper insurance and time to tinker with those add-on bits. My TV fix was via a Digital box, using the rear-screen aerial already in the Aristo if you've not already noticed it, which by-passes the Japanese system. This mean I have a remote control rather than the central touch screen. The bad news is that in South Yorkshire the reception is poor and on the track at over 150 mph the picture is a bit blurred, or is that me just bouncing around in the seat!! I'd advise to get this done professionally by someone that has worked on Lexus 300's before.
  7. Hi guys. Just bought my first Aristo and joined the club. Having now had all the range of UK Lexus cars over recent years I was looking for a good performance car before I get my bus pass. I've had or looked at every sports car on the market - but then when you've analyse them where is the practicality, the luxury, the reliability, the value for money, where are the safety features, where are the four doors, where can you shove the grandkids, your holiday cases, and the pending Zimmer frame. Heart, mind, and logic came together recently when reading on the LOC web-site some interesting things about the Aristo - the bottom line being I bought one a few weeks ago. Thanks guys. Looks almost the same as my past GS300, but something curious happens when you push the accelerator pedel and twiddle with those paddle things on the steering wheel. Granny's wrinkles go all tight as the G-force pins you to the seats, the grandkids shreak with glee as the spotty boy racers become a distant blob in the rear-view mirror, and who needs Viagra? It is a standard 1998 V300 MKII (silver) TT Triptronic Aristo. I've just de-badged it (except for V300 on the rear), poped Lexus wheels on it, converted the screen for UK sat/nav and TV, de-limited it and had the convert to mph, de-catted the exhaust, and I'm in the process of fitting a Blitz front grill, Blitz Turbo Boost Controller, Turbo Timer, etc. Hope to have some pics when I've done.
