Caravan / Touring
DieselDriver replied to leddy's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
I towed a caravan with my IS 220d and never had any problems. I had the Lexus towbar fitted before I picked the car up. As Exiled said "the IS diesel has bags of torque 400Nm@2000-2600 rpm" and it pulls a caravan easily. Our Caravan (now sold) was a 2006 Sterling Eccels Jewel and seemed a good match. I would agree with Exiled other advice too. We started caravaning over 5 years ago and would recomend it to anyone, but read up on towing and loading advice, it will keep you safe. -
I don't think I've ever seen Lexus IS pulling a caravan!!?? I tow a Caravan with the Lexus and it is fine as a tow car. It has a lot of power at low end therefore have never had a problem moving our caravan. I tow an 2006 Stearling Eccels Jewel, what do you have?? I have a 2007 Coachman VIP 460/2 with a MPTL of 1420kg, with my current BM330d I dont even notice it on the back and get 34mpg towing. Is the Lex as impressive? Nice van. Our MPTL is 1500kg. You know the van is there but the car just keeps on pulling. :D I love the faces of drivers sitting next to you at lights when you beat them off. :) The Lex is not anywhere near that mpg, I sometimes struggle to to get 39mpg when not towing. At the moment mine is doing around 24-26mpg when towing....

Anti Whiplash Head Restraints
DieselDriver replied to philwhite's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
I had a Volvo S40 before my IS220d sport, that had Whiplash protection..... and that car was nearly £10k cheaper! -
The first day I had my car, the near side front was damaged by the time I got home! I just had them re-done before Christmas, washed the car the other day and there the scuffs are back :tsktsk: I am sure its a bad design of 19" wheel/tyre!

Why Does My Car Rattle?
DieselDriver replied to DieselDriver's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
:duh: My passenager seat is rattling again :tsktsk: My dash is still craking after about 15-20 minutes. I believe its the fents in the middle. When the A/C cuts in and the heat stops, it seems to crack with the change in temp? I can make the noise by pressing at the joint between the temp controls and the fents...... Anyone tried this???? -
Why Does My Car Rattle?
DieselDriver replied to DieselDriver's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
WOW :D an update for you...... Just got my car back from the dealer after being with them for nearly 2 weeks The removed my dash re-sealed and re-packed it, re-packed the A and B frames and replaced my mirror. Its like a different car :D I do still get that cracking sound after 20 mins of driving, but nothing like at the level before and no rattles :D (They forgot to plug the LED back in in the passanager footwell, but I will forgive them, as they will be reconnecting it tomorrow evening ) :winky: -
Vibrating Rear View Mirror Problem
DieselDriver replied to Richwood's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
I have just had mine replaced by Lexus due to this rattle. It is great now I can look in the mirror and it doesn't make me feel sea sick any more -
I am currently in a 250 auto from Lex Reading, as my 220d has been in for the past week and a half for rattles :o I called them before leaving work and they tell me mine should be back with me tomorrow? I have forgotten what my car looks like I had never driven an auto, but this one is very quick! I found a "PWR" button, which according to the book, puts more power to the wheels :D If you drop your foot - it reves so far to the red line.........before changing gear B) I have left a few cars behind

Why Does My Car Rattle?
DieselDriver replied to DieselDriver's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
UPDATE: I have not long had my car back and some of the rattles have gone, but they couldn't look at the dash as they ran out of time? My passanger seat is still rattling! I have had to rebook the car in for 2 weeks time for them to have it for nearly a week to try and sort it out. Lexus Reading tell me they have to remove the dash Why should a car over £25K rattle and a Lexus of all cars...... I have great faith in them, we'll wait and see when they fix it :) -
I would have to agree with all comments here. I have the IS220d sport in black. It is different to the others in the range with a different gear box and seems quicker. Black? It does show all the scratches and dirt. I love the car in black especially when it has just been washed :D (takes me about 2 hours and the 18" wheels take just as long ) I wanted it in Red, but an ex-demo came up in black so I took it :D The stuff about speed is so true, with the low end take off slow, but once that turbo kicks in you will be through the gears in no time...... This is my first Lex and I love it!

Why Does My Car Rattle?
DieselDriver replied to DieselDriver's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
The moden diesel engines don't rattle, and you are right kazi Lexus deisels shouldn't. I spoke to my dealer today and they said they would sort it. I still have their car tonight, so they must be doing something about it??? -

DieselDriver replied to DieselDriver's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
Oh yes, I forgot, I have this as well, after about 20 minutes of driving. Do you know what it is? -
I have put my car (IS220d) in for a little bit of work to my dealer. I have a car from them (IS250 auto). This car doesn't rattle at all. My seats and drivers door rattle Does any one have the same issue??

I am currently using Tesco diesel and get approx 37 mpg. (over 3 tanks) I did fill up once with Sainsbo's and again 37 mpg (1 tank). I haven't yet tried Esso, Shell or BP so can't comment yet, but due to fill up by the end of week so will let you know....

Could someone advise me as I am new to Lexus cars, if I should get Lexus to look at mine (IS 220d Sport)..... I have had the car for nearly 2 months and it has now done about 5500 miles. All my tanks have an average of 36mpg Lexus.co.uk say "Combined (mpg/l/100 km) 39.2/7.2" but no figures for the others Most of my driving is on country roads and most between 50 - what every I can get mph :winky: (if you know what I mean) I was hoping for a few more mpg at least 40-45mpg My internal mirror and passage seat rattle like :tsktsk:

Thanks for the information. I have done my wheels on one of those land drain things! I am give them a call to do mine.

I would also like a number of these setting on my IS220d. My Volvo S40 (new model) had the auto door locking - controlable from the central console. - I felt this is a great feature! The approch lighting - when walking upto the car the puddle lights came on after pressing the yellow button on the key fob. The other thing was the "home lighting" (dipped beam) came on after pulling the headlight stalk, again this could be programed on the contra console. This sort of thing must be easy to change on our Lexus? The lights already stay on untill a door is opened, why can't they be timed or wait until the car is locked? Come on Lexus.........
