  1. thats correct BEAMS means nothing, its just a name that Toyota japan gives to the Engines

BEAMS = Breakthrough Engine with Advanced Mechanism System

It was just a Japanese marketing slogan / acronym conjured up to mesmerize Japanese people.

and for people with Altezzas to think they have a wonder engine :whistling:

My 3S-GE engine IS wonderful!! :winky:

  2. Even though its looks an edentical engine it is quite possible for a BEAMS spec to produce more horsepower as the head, valves or internals may be different

I do agree but he has no proof to state the figure and thats a big difference in power for the 6 cylinder engine.

True, it might not have the power output he states but it is possible it produced more power than an IS

The factory power output of an AS200 is 160bhp so it has an extra 7bhp over an IS, The head is only different on the Rs200 which has the 3sge engine in it and even that doesnt push out 220bhp! If he did have any head, valves or internals done im sure he would have metioned that

  3. My question to him: :shutit:

That car is not 220bhp, more like 153bhp AS200, no way anyone will buy it with those false statements. If you were told buy whoever you bought it from that its 220bhp you were lied to unfortunately. You better off trying to sell it as a Toyota Altezza AS200

  4. You can get them on Ebay cheap enough these days. You can buy an option gsensor that connects up to it thats supposed to be able to give you 0-60 times bhp figures and lots of other great stats but i havent been able to figure it out yet. You need to mount the sensor on a totally level surface inside the car. Which can be hard to come across on the Altezza interior!

  5. Guys,

are these altezza restricted? the reason i ask is cause mine dont go past 130mph the pedal starts to bounce

is there any way i can take this off?

    thanks

Altezzas are restricted to 180kmh, if yours is de-restricted it should do 140mph easily. dunno why its stopping at 130mph. I de-restricted mine with an Apexi RSM, got 211kmh out of it and still plenty of go left in it

  6. any garages i went to wont help me out with the fitting since i didnt buy the exhauts off them :crybaby:

Thats a bit mean, there is an exhaust guy near me who makes all sorts of wierd and wonderful exhaust systems, he'll fit it for you for a tenner :)

Try finding a high curb and parking on that ;)

    might give you enough room.

    Got it sorted eventually!

    First attempt!

    Proper ramps!

    Cheers for the advice lads

  7. Thanks, trying to get a manifold is proving tough, and is it true the exhaust is diffrent from an IS from the Maifold to the cat? as stated by IRLRs200

Really need some people who are familiar with ESVA's to pop along as i have a couple more questions im unsure of at the minute

Well manifold is definetly different as the IS200 is 6 cylinder and altezza is four cylinder, the cat pipe is the only thing im unsure of.

  8. Ive heard that about the HID fogs being illegal too. Problem is you call up the local cop shop to ask someone (who should know) if they are and you get nowhere as they dont know themselves

How much light will you get from a set of 10000K bulbs?

i dont know how much light you get all i know is they look good

I think the 10000k bulbs are more purple than white, mine are 6000k. If you look at my avatar thats the colour of mine. The halo rings replace the sidelights, the wires for the halo rings need to come out of the headlight and the only place i could think of without drilling a hole in the unit was through the sidelight hole

  9. im definatley gonna get that done, ive just had a look on the net for some and they look mad in the dark. where did you get yours from? and how much where they?

im gonna get a 10000k hid bulb to upgrade my standard hids, get a 10000k hid kit for the fogs, replace the full beam with a hid look halogen and definatley get some halo rings. if anyones doe this set up,or similar, can you post some pics in the dark so i can see what the look like, cheers

IRLRs200- are the halo rings hard to fit and how are they wired up?

This is where i got my rings from. I have yet to find " HID look halogen" bulbs anywhere and i've tried a lot of different brands, including a few different Philips bluevision and hi vision ones. There is a HID kit you can get that does both the Hi and dipped beams not sure where u can get it. If not you can get a HID set for both Hi and dipped beam.

Rings are easy to fit once you get the headlights apart. They are wired into where the sidelight used to be plugged into. i think HID's in the fogs are illegal

  10. Yaumeister has some dark headlights that where fitted at the midlands meet they look really nice on the royal saphire blue.

Heres a look at what i did to mine:

    dsc00455fi0.jpg

Just waiting to get my eyebrows painted so i can stick them on to cover up the to top the lights so you cant see the gap in light from the halo rings

  11. Ramps would make it easier and safer mate but when i changed my backbox i jacked it up and put it on axle stands which gave me enough space to get under it? :) If your replacing the pipe i took my other car when i had it de-catted to the local kwik fit and they did it for me for very minimal cost they even suplied all the rubbers and sealed it for me its just a shame they closed down as they were very handy and helpfull

Dont have any ramps unfortunately, im trying to see can i find someone i know with ramps . Just changing the back box back to standard. any garages i went to wont help me out with the fitting since i didnt buy the exhauts off them :crybaby:

  12. Welcome to the site mate. As far as i know you will have to get any exhausts bits that have been modified back to standard, the oil cooler is an aftermarket part, I think you will be ok with the brake discs and wheels, but your priority should be the exhaust. is200 and altezza exhausts are the same from the cat back, but different from the cat to the manifold if i remember correctly. Hope the search for standard parts goes well for you! I might turn out cheaper to by a standard one in any colour and spray it yellow afterwards! :shutit:

  13. Hi all, I am in need of some tasteful BLING for inside my IS200.

See you @ the Grasshopper Inn Meet this Sunday (1st July)

Ah that be my dash! I got mine of Kazi. Someone else at the same time had a set for sale, cant remember who though. If you check the buy and sell section you might find an old thread there

  14. Hi its not long now till i get a lexus and the one thing that scares me lol.. is the rear wheel drive! ive never driven one before and am worried its gonna be twicthy and slippery round wet corners etc etc whats the difference like?

should be fine as long as you don't drive it like a nutter in the rain...

And leave the traction control ON till you get used to the twitchyness!
