  1. im guessing you dont have the car yet?

whoever your currently insured with will insure you

im 27 and with fbd they wont insure you

the altezza is now in the same group as skylines evo's and scoobies insurence wise

your 21 ish and looking to insure a car that a 30 year old would find hard to insure .

its a bit stupid the way insurance is done in ireland .

dont use online quotes ring the companies and take down all the info they give you . you will get better results from ringing them and chat the girls up that are on the phone if they like the sound of you they will do more for you

Yep i agree ring them up and get chatting. Try eaglestar i found them the cheapest. Most online sites will virtually laugh at you trying to insure yourself on an Altezza when your only 20. definetly don't get the auto version. You could buy a Lexus is200 and supercharge it, then you would have the same power as the Altezza except probably a more luxurious model with leather interior, sunroof etc . i remember seeing on sub insurance sites an Lexus IS200 supercharged as a model of car.

  2. welcome to the site mate. lovely car. Amp and sub can be easily added to the standard headunit, but you need to buy a line level convertor which enables you to take the wiring off the woofer part of your rear speakers and you connect them to the covertor which has 2 rca plugs, which you can plug into an amp and then your sub into your amp. makes sense? Not the best setup sound wise but simple to do, convertor is available from Halfords or eBay

  3. fuel comsumtion would be un-noticeable i think, a should create a better flow of exhaust gases out of the car unleashing a few ponies hopefully. Think it increases noise of the exhaust though. Would like to get one myself but cant find one for the altezza

  4. How do you watch the downloaded films? I'm used to them being avi files etc, with this I've got loads of archived files and R36 files ???

These type of files generally come in a folder with about 47 files. you need to use "Winrar" to extract the files, which joins them altogether into the one .avi file, a lot of the times these movies are fake or password protected so make sure you read the comments on the movie before hand to get the password or find out if the movie is a legit ,good copy. Also most good uploaders upload their movies in single 700mb/1.3gb file sizes. so try to download these ones first. Hope that helps

  5. In terms of plasma life, it's all rubbish now - we have one of the first Pioneer plasma's (cost £6k at the time  ) which we bought in 2002 and is still going strong.

I think the life of a plasma has now exceeded 30,000 hours, which is in the region of 10-15 years for most people - the thing most people ignore is that the backlight in an LCD will only last a similar finite amount of time too. Bearing in mind its repair vs. replacement cost, the LCD would also be effectively dead after the same period of time.

Screen burn is the only issue still remaining for plasmas, but even this has now been fixed up to the level where it's only really a concern if you watch the same channel with the same logo for days on end - otherwise there isn't really an issue.

I did swap over to the LCD camp for a little while, but now that we have several of both, I always find myself preferring to watch the plasmas over the LCDs as the image is so much better.

We recently bought a Pioneer 42" plasma (and the Pioneers are definitely the ones to go for) for £1200 - imo the picture will be better than the LCD despite the resolution difference, and you can buy two for the same price as the LCD you've mentioned above.

No brainer for me, even if I was plugging a PS3 into it - but if you are definitely going to buy an LCD, the Samsung is definitely the one to buy.

Hope that helps a bit :)

Cheers lads. But the one with the designer chrome trim is actually the ..87BD which is the less expensive one. think ill just get the 40 inch top spec one and then keep the rest towards a new ECU!!

  6. here is the link to the cable tidy shelf system if anyonelse wants to look it up

    http://www.a2000systems.co.uk/plasma-xpc-shelf.htm

if you buy from Currys they have deals with Sky HD etc when you buy an HD TV. (don't know about in Ireland) but i did at same time through Currys with bracket and saved about £500 in total from buying seperately.

Thats cool alright, if i decide to put it on the wall i can get one of those! There was some Sky HD deal with it but im planning to use a get a sat Dbox2 maybe instead :whistling:

  7. Doesnt make alot of difference nowadays does it arent online shops pretty much the same as ones in the high street.

Nah its not going to be mounted unfortunately as the layout of the room doesn't allow for it. I think it might be a safer bet to get it from Currys for 2500 and get the accidental damage warranty for my piece of mind. Delivery from most online places are about 160 Euro and 3/4 weeks delivery time! Sure i was planning on spending 2 grand max. Thats all she needs to know!

  8. Theres not alot of difference between those two is there

Dont think you can go far wrong with Samsung though.

Only real difference i can see is 349 Euro in the difference! Cant see anything that would make it worth paying that extra for. Slightly different finish at the bottom ; silver compared to black. think ill go for the cheaper option so!

  9. Cheers guys just rang the supplier there again today and he "said" he was still waiting back on an email from D2. Hope this doesn't drag out too long. Ideally it takes him too long to get them and he will replace them with a set of something more reliable(Teins :whistling: )

  10. yall no when its fuked as ALL the liquid ****** out one of my coilovers n it was dead no dampening at all barely driveable

    A bit like this?

Went up to Tuning Factory to tell them the problem and they said they would replace them for me no problem. i think i remember i got the last set he had in stock and they were the old model. Hopefully the new ones don't have any similar issues or ill be well ******!

  11. to connect your aftermarket stereo you will need a wiring harness to connect it to the amp you can get these from ebay

IRLRs200 beat me to it... :D

Actually you dont connect it to the amp you take the connection from the amp and plug the wiring harness onto this. Gotta learn to type faster lads!

  12. Pretty sure the standard amp is under the glove box on the right hand side (i think this is right sorry if not).

And i think it will run on the standard speakers but i think it doesnt work very well with rear speakers so you may have to change. Someone will be along shortly if i have posted incorrectly.

Welcome to the LOC as well.

external amplifier is behind the glove box on the left, its held in with 2 nuts, if ur looking to bypass this and hook up the factory speakers to new Hu the is a iso loom you can buy off eBay that makes it quite easy to do. Hope that helps
