  1. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=265663 "funny" is, that my factory roof rack looks different than his... At least I got the paint protection tape included in the package
  2. after one week use no marks at all. After a year? who knows? I am not using it now.
  3. The only negative thing, which I see on 220d engine, is the turbo lag. BMW and Honda sorted this out, toyota hasn't.
  4. Jonnyboy> How many miles has your car? I think this is because your car is new...Mine was the same but now at 14.000kms (~9.000miles) the car accelerates on second and third from 1.600rpm this car has a bit different gearbox rations, so it needs different approach I think that the first gear is just okay, just don't be afraid and floor it when you need the acceleration. Floor it, wait till the engine gets in revs and release the clutch and the car is very quick even from standstill. This is matter of new car, third accelarates from 1600rpm As I read through forum and look on england speed limits with conclusion that sixth is useless, but what I don't understand, why are you worried about that... less gears means less gearchanges and this means less work with the clutch etc = more comfort. I find this cool. 5 gear ratios are enough. why did you buy it then? I like this car and I like also because of the un-diesel like power delivery. Normally diesel gears are way too short, second pulls 40mph, third 60-65mph etc... This car goes on second gear 60mph and fourth gear is usable from 38mph till 100mph. This range is common in petrol cars, not in diesels. When you have bought the car already, try to find the pros in long gearing, not the cons...
  5. if it's true, that sport has higher consumption than standard (with same dynamic performance according to numbers), I don't see the point to buy oil burner. Go for 250. javadude> interesting. My car has no problems when doing 70mph. On fifth, of course.
  6. I have driven both (I have standard) and I wouldn't change for sport. I like the standard gears and I would miss the vent seats. Also, the standard is already stiff, why pay for even stiffer car and 18"?
  7. your welcome mate! I put in 4 pairs of skis with sticks and 3 pairs of ski boots, some jackets on top and it was full. With 4 snowboards and boots it will be hard (depends on the lenght of snowboards), I reccomend you to test it before you buy.
  8. spirit yes. I haven't been in any other car with rails, so I can't compare, but in my opinion it's very noisy. It's almost no difference to drive just with rails or with the box... In city driving it's OK, but at 130kph....noise well yes, but I wouldn't like to do it every day :) It takes 10-15 minutes
  9. hmmm, beige color is the yellow one, or it's the grey one? :) In my previous car I had grey interior with grey floor mats...it was GREAT. Now with black mats I have 10 times more work to keep it clean. On that black you see everything, while the grey hides all dirt.
  10. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=41326 I bought originals, price difference in comparison with the thule racks was very small. BTW: it's noisy as hell Pics with roof box: photo 1 photo 1
  11. stick a 1mm thick tape accross the "round" (you can see it on the bottom of the cover) This helped me.
  12. exactly exactly. underrevving the engine is very dangerous.
  13. I bought OZ. I just told to the guy what car I have and he gave me rims :)
  14. I know this doesn't help but at least for better feeling: in other forum a guy with E90 325i complained. He has been twice in brush carwash and the clearcote is damaged. I have the same experience with IS.
  15. guys but, aren't you happy that it's only 5 speeder? It means you have to work less with the stick than 6 speeders...or, don't you enjoy the shifting, do you? :)
  16. there are still plenty of autobahns in germany with unlimited speed, the rest is usually with limit of 130km/h. Speedometer usually shows a bit more then reality + police tolerates some km/h over the limit which means that there is no problem to travel between 140/150km/h (88-93mph). In austria did a test last year with 160km/h (100mph) on some autobahns and it did work, so hopefully they will rise the limit (they said that they probably rise the limit to 160km/h but only during the day and in dry conditions). At the moment there is 130km/h limit. Czech republic and also Slovakia are seriously thinking about rising the speed limit on autobahn to 160km/h. At the moment we and Czech have 130km/h limit. You can drive 145km/h with no problem, but I don't reccomend you to go more, because IS220d unfortunately can not compare with police Audi RS4 :) Italy has also limit 130km/h but as far as I know, police wouldn't stop you unless you go over 160km/h (which generally means over 170km/h on speedo) - but they sure will stop you if you go in the overtaking lane without need)
  17. Welcome in LOC. I am just surprised that you haven't tried the car before signing the lease... Anyway, what's the problem to cruise on 5th?
  18. seat is like a shoe. It will fit or not. You cannot change your foot, you can not change your back. You can only change the shoes or car...
  19. AFAIK 350 has bigger rotors than 250/220d, so the pads will be different too. Brake dust is always problem on front wheels. You can use less dusty pads, but they are usually harder and the wear of rotor is increased.
  20. 1. I find the 11 mile run too short. I am an consumption addict :) which means that I reset AVG very often to see the consumption. I have 7kms from home to work. Usually I have to give the way 2 times (one on stop sign). One-two more stops or 1 minute waiting on stop sign means difference in consumption around 20% 2. on 2,9k the IS220d is still too tight to show its consumption capabilities 3. bmw has higher mpg but - but have anyone proved that the board computer counts correctly? On beemer I haven't but I heard that it's slightly optimistic. On IS220d I had, and in mixed conditions the BC is very accurate, and on highway slightly pesimistic (showed 36mpg and reality was 37 - with roofbox, 140-150kph and headwind)
  21. some of you compared IS220d to bmw - I saw an e46 and a 330ci. Have you driven the new e90? I have and except two things I don't see difference in driving - I mean enjoing the drive. The two exceptions are - almost no turbolag in 320d - this is really extremely good and a great advantage over the IS. The second is possiblity to switch esp (dsc) off in the beemer. Otherwise - both cars heavy, both understeery (unless floored), both harsh drive and stability problems on bumpy roads. Beemer fans say, that the e90 is the worst 3xx beemer ever. This I can't confirm as the e90 was the first I have tried.
  22. once you get used to do it, it goes fast. Don't forget to clean the roof before applying them. I am afraid just of one part - there is no washer under the screw (and it makes iron sawdust when tightening) I am not sure about some words, I had to use a dictionary, so I'll explain if you don't understand.
  23. I've got lexus roof bars, I use them for roof box. I tried about 180kph with them and I still have the roof box, so I reckon the bars are OK :)
