  1. more power means higher consumption. Why did you buy diesel, when you are looking for more power?
  2. Do you have the same tires - brand, type and width? I would start with checkinkg the tire pressure and then with I'd look for the amount of unnecessary things in boot. After a drive check if one ot the wheels isn't hotter than the other (locked brake). Does the engine warm up properly? If everything seems to be OK, then you will have to go to the garaze and check what lexicon wrote.
  3. So I put quite lot of cloth inside the hole and - the car is quiet as new! I am happy again. My only question is - how many more kgs of cloth I will have to spend on lexus?
  4. I looked closer and removed the cover - because I don't have MM and there is not a speaker in the centre of dashboard. There is only cover which looks like speaker... Underneath is a hole. I put my palm in it but the hole is too small. So now I don't know. I am afraid that I will have to go the dealer. Hmmm Maybe I try first to put some cloth inside of the hole and see what happends.
  5. I tried Shell V-power diesel, but no difference in consumption. I have 41mpg, but mostly I do short journeys or higway (90mph)
  6. turn the aircon off, and you'll see that even with cold engine it will idle on normal level As I mentioned before, turn the power heat on and the car will be warmed up quicker.
  7. obviously the air-con doesn't work first 5 minutes. I got this too. if it is around 0 degrees, I turn the power heating on, and the engine warms up quicker
  8. I got it too. I am used to hold something in right hand, so now I hold the handbrake instead of the knob :) Jamboo, thanks for the pic I will try the centrespeaker. guys: to warm the engine up quicker turn the power heating on.
  9. after reading the article: "Yes, the manual gearbox is poor" What the hell do they mean? The box is great! Better than the beemers 320d!
  10. My last car was Citroen C5. Never again... after reading the article: "Yes, the manual gearbox is poor" What the hell do they mean? The box is great! Better than the beemers 320d! after reading the article: "Yes, the manual gearbox is poor" What the hell do they mean? The box is great! Better than the beemers 320d!
  11. thanks Jamboo. I am getting an occasional light rattle from middle of dashboard now (behind the middle wents), so I will wait until it gets regular and then put my car to the dealer to remove whole dashboard. Please don't forget to post the pic. Thanks
  12. maybe they are too long in the stock so the shop wants them to sell quickly... yes, Y will be OK. check the original tire, usually the load rating number is before the speed index. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tire_code
  13. thank you Scott! post also the TRC button, pls.
  14. yep, take it please! also if you recognize something else different, take it too. I think other 2005-2006 owners will be also interested.
  15. well, my story completely sick. I send e-mail to my dealer and asked, if they will have a conversion kit, at least the ilumination of the buttons (I don't mind their position) as has the 2007 version. He replied: "what 2007 version? what do you mean? I just called to czech republic (the general importer for Slovakia is in Czech republic) and he also doesn't anything know about "model 2007" :-o I don't want to tell him straight that I have this information from the internet forum - you know what they think about internet discussions. So I want to send them the pic as well...
  16. Hi gyus, may I ask owner of IS 2007 to post a pic of the new trunk and tank buttons? thanks a lot. Matus
  17. It's a standard on all mercs with SBC brakes. Try to activate cruise controll when driving under 30km/h and SBC-S will activate.
  18. The IS 250 does have an anti roll system fitted, and it works very well. I have tested this on some steep inclines on a few occasions. this is something else. It has to do with SBC brakes (first production combined electric-hydraulic brake system) When you are standing on lights, you press the brake pedal a bit faster and then release it, but the brakes stay on. It doesn't matter whether you are on downhill, uphill, or flat road. It simulates the handbrake, in this case. When you press the accelerator, the brakes turn off automatically. There is also other mode, called SBS-S (S for Stau, I think. Stau=traffic jam). After initialization, for moving and stopping up to 30km/h you only press the accelerator (with autobox of course). When you release the accelerator, the car starts to brake and stops automatically with the same deceleration as you accelerated. Both are pretty handy.
  19. evilweasel> If I had any rattle now, or once if I will have, I will go straight to the dealer to fix it (remove the dash etc). But this was my only little problem, and even if it's fixed in such an extraordinary way, I don't care. I think it is better to leave it this way. To the point: after two days of labouring I think that with the rag I didn't cure the problem, but the rag stops the cracking sound to go out from the dashboard...
  20. Hi Evilweasel, thanks for your post, because it looks that I suffered the same problem. That sound I used to have, was the same as yours - the paper description is perfect. In my case, it occured only on specific moments - only on specific jumps, or when braking a bit harder. That sound was in my case so silent, that most of the time only I could hear that, none of other passengers heard it. Also specific was, that when it was raining, it wasn't doing that sound at all, it was completely silent. But next day the sound was back. I sprayed the silicone oil spray under the window, but it didn't help. Anyway, thank you and Northern Boys Luv Gravy, who posted the link, I checked the points of the contact dashboard with windscreen and I put a cloth there. See the pics: This was only "trial" version :) but IT WORKS!!! The sound is still there, but much much much more silent. It's hearable only when braking harder and I have to focus on it. There is no sound at all on the jumps. During normal driving I can't hear nothing. I cut the cloth and it's almost invisible now. I have to get a black cloth and it will be perfect. Or the best would be to get the original lexus foam, but I don't know where and how. After reading some posts, I don't want to put my lexie to garage, to remove the dashboard, specially when this is my only and small problem and I succesfully cured it. So thank you again, and I hope that my post will help you too.
  21. It says the manual (don't know if also for is250 but for C5 and mercedes it does). There is written something like: "Do not move the shifter to P or N when standing on lights or in jam. The transmission is constructed to stay on D even for longer period." The reason is, basically said, every shift is a stress for the transmission and when you move from D to P and vice versa, the transmission shifts unneedfully. It better resist to stay on D for longer time, than to shifts.
  22. it is not recommended to shift to P on red lights etc
  23. if that's an error, for me it's feature and I like it. I always keep the key in my pocket, so I prefer the car locks automatically in case I forget.
  24. I think so. On sunday I was cleaning motorbike next to the car and my girlfriend was in the car. Later I noticed that both indicators flashed as when locking the car. I asked her, if she locked from inside and she said she didn't. Also later I realized, that if you lock the car from inside, the indicators doesn't flash.
  25. thanks for the link. I used some other webpage for recalculation, don't know why it doesn't match?
