  1. Car went in today to see if they could find the leak. My mehnic thinks that is the rubber seal on the pipe that connects to the front of the condensor. He ran the dye test and you can see it all over that join. It is going in next Thursday to replace this. Hopefully this will fix the problem, exspecialy with the weather we have been having this week. One question, my car only has one electric cooling fan, on the lefthand side of the engine. But a digaram I have of a 94 MK2 Lexus shows two cooling fans? Do your Lexus's only have one cooling fan? Thanks Alan.
  2. I have just sent Auto express an email asking why are car are being measured per KM of CO2, we do not use KM in this country. The measurements for tax should be priced per mile of CO2. As there is only 0.62km to a mile, are cars would all be in much lower tax brackets. Alan.
  3. Thank you for your replies Hayland. I'm afraid you were right, it has lost all of the gas already! My mechanic is taking the car in next Wednesday to run a dye trace. Hopefully he can find the source of the leak. I will post next week with the results. Alan.
  4. If it is losing the gas, where could it be losing the gas from? My Mechanic thought it was the condenser, which I had replaced. This makes sense as I was losing quite a bit of coolant before this was replaced, after the replacement the coolant level remains normal. The print out from Quickfit states that a leak test was carried out and not leak was detected. Vacuum time was 20 mins. Thanks for any advice Alan.
  5. When I bought my Lexus in December 2006, the air con was not working it had error 23 on the air con side if you put it in diagnostic mode. It though I would wait until the summer to get it gassed. I had it gassed and it lost the gas after three weeks, my mechanic traced the leak to the condenser which I had replaced. I had it regased again and the air con worked for the rest of the summer, but has lost the gas in the winter and brought back error 23. I took the car to Quickfit and had it regased today, here are the results: Before Recharge Check: Low pressure port reading (AC off) 0 Bar High pressure port reading (AC off) 0 Bar Ambient Temperature 16.4c Centre vent temperature (AC on) 40.2c!!! The port readings were the same as above with ac turned on. They added 00.700KG of R134A and 0010ml of oil. After Recharge check Centre vent Temperature 7.1c Low pressure port reading (AC on) 2 Bar High pressure port reading (AC on) 10 Bar Why was the centre vent temp so high before the regas? Was this part of the problem I had last year? Is 7.1c a good temperature for the air con or just average? As even in this weather it does not feel that cold in the car with it on. Also if it helps the car feels completely different to drive with the air con on. I have had other cars with car air con before a Jaguar Sovereign and it always felt the same to drive with it on or not. Thanks for any help Alan.
  6. After put my MK2 Lexus into diagnostic mode, I am getting error 11 and 23. I know that 23 is low gas and I'm going to get it regased in April. I want to check with the solar sensor not working, does this only affect the auto mode or will the air con not work at all with this error? Many thanks Alan.
  7. I replaced my tried gear knob for my MK2 Lexus with this one: http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/body/shifter.html It looks really nice after the old tatty one. Alan.
  8. My mark 2 passed last week, three advisories small leak from exhaust manifold even though I had both front cats and down pipes changed this year! Both front springs are rusting and bottom of the car is rotting will probley need some welding next year. Alan.
  9. 102.9 here in Brighton, cost me £69.00 to fill my MK2 LS400 up from Empty. When I had a Damiler in 2002 it only cost me £48 to fill it up from empty, same size tank as the Lexus!
  10. Thanks for the feed back guys, I will get a price on both tyres and take it from there. I only paid £180 for two Dunlops last year if the Michelin's are going to be much more expensive I will get the Dunlops.
  11. Just about to replace my back tyres, have Dunlop's D8Z's all round at the moment, think about getting the Michelin tyres for the rears. As I find I have very little traction with the Dunlop's in the wet even when they were new. How will the Michelin's effect the noise and comfort of my Ls? Thanks for any replies Alan.
  12. Hi Ken, I have just looked up thoughs error codes for you, here they are as follows: 14:Coolant Temperature Sensor Circuit 21:Passenger's Solar Sensor Circuit(This error will show if there is no sunlight at the time of test) 23:Abnormal refrigerent pressure (You need to regas the system) 24:Driver's Solor Sensor (Same as error 21) Hope this helps, I only have a MKII this does not have all the same error codes as yours. I have got error 23, had to have the car regased but it lost it all again. I have just bought a new Condenser. You may need to do the same? Regards Alan.
  13. Hold down recirculate and auto and turn the ignition on. After the three beeps press any of the buttons and the current error codes for the aircon will come up. If you are low on gas it will be error 23. Hope this helps Alan
  14. I have been quoted £150 for a new condensor, is this a good price? Also Steve2006 said Bit iffy buying a used one I would have thought ( if the system is depressurised moisture causes problems) What might happen from buying a used one? I'm only looking at keeping the car for this summer and next, is it worth paying the extra for a new condensor? Thanks Alan.
  15. Thanks for you responses, had a reply from one person breaking one. They asked my if it was a new air con radiator I needed? Is this the same thing as the Condensor? Thanks Alan.
  16. Hi there I'm looking for a replacement condensor for my MKII Lexus Ls400 as it has a leak. Does anybody know if you can use either a MKII or MKIII condensor? Will a MKIII fit and work on a MKII? Thanks Alan.
  17. Hi Steve, can you tell us a bit more on how you got the rear lights to fit? This would be helpfull as I'm looking to buy a pair from the states. Alan.
  18. Posted the topic a while ago... http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...ic=32675&hl= Talking about Petrol, I have been using Shell's 98 Octane. I'm getting about Three Hundred miles a tank, do you think 98 is worth the extra or would you just use normal unleaded? Alan.
  19. Keep the badges and get LS400 for the right of the boot. I will make it look newer! Your clear indicators at the front and the the clear lights at the back, where did you get them from? Thanks Alan.
