Well I done 200 miles with it on the other day, and on the motorway in 6th (manual), you could notice the mpg needle staying resonably steady. I tried on a nice flat stretch of road going along at a steady 60, and when i push the snow buttom the needle would shoot up about 10 mpg. So i think it does make a difference

I had a nissan Micra a few years ago (oh what a difference to the IS), and the reverse switch in the gearbox was bust. Would have meant dropping the oil and replacing it and stuff. So asked my loacl MOT garage guy about it, and he said you're not legally obliged to have one. He said you can't fail cos of it maybe just get n advidory. Although I don't know how kindly they'd take to blue ones, as said could be classed as inpersonating a police car. Althouh I do quite like the blue interior light, we've got a bit of an advantage with our cars that we've got 2, so could leave one white for when you need to find somthing. Gazza

I kind of remeber seeing them when I was a kid, but the first time I saw one properly was when my dads friend called round with a blue SE. He let me have a drive and me (a 17 year old with a J reg nissan micra) it was a dream car. Now 5 years on my dream has come true and Ive got a Sport with styling kit and smile everytime I see or drive it.

I hate you I hate you I hate you, lol I was happy leaving my car alone, but now I want those LED eyebrows, just cant decide what colour, not blue, but either amber or white. If I had white I could connect to ignition so they would always be on wen i was driving, kind of A5 esque. Or wouldn't mind amber ones that come on with the indicators. Or a mixture of both would be very cool. White side lights for the day, then amber indicators as well. I love the look tho. Gazza

Any chance of a few pics un fitted? Wouldn't mind seeing what they look like.

I think the LED eyebrows would be awesome wired together with the indicators. Would look very futaristic, lol. How much are the eye brows? I'd like to see a pic of them in the day turned off to. Interior lights look good to. Good work

Do they change the belts in a 60,000 mile service? How much are belts. Mine tends to go away once warmed up as well. The service guys didn't metion anything about the belts being worn on the service report. Gazza -

Trying To Strip All Paint Off Front Bumper
Gareth Rose replied to Gareth Rose's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
Don't know how long the paint warranty is supposed to be for. My cars an 03, so nearly 5 years od. I've just emailed Lexus Cardiff to see what they say. Gazza -
Hi guys, I've got a squeek coming from somewhere on my engine. It seems to be coming from the region of the water pump pulley, but Im not perfectly sure. If I liberally spray WD40 on the shafts of the pullys in that region then it goes away. But im still not sure which one it is. Its a really quiet sqeeky, that sounds like a belt slipping but way to quiet. Is there a free running pully in that area that could be removed, greased and replaced. A mate of mine done it to his mates BMW the other day that had similar symtoms. Any one had this? Cheers Gazza

Trying To Strip All Paint Off Front Bumper
Gareth Rose replied to Gareth Rose's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
Some of the paint did come off with a power washer.lol.il have to have another go, and prob try with thinners and finish with sandpaper. What grade paper should I use to prep the plastic before paint? Thanks for the replies. Gazza -
Hi guys, Ive got a styling kit on my car, and the front bumper is starting to flake. It started off as a few stone chips, but now its coming off in chunks so don't know whether it was prep properly. It was a Lexus fitted one from new??? I don't its covered by the paintwork warranty. I've found someone who'l spray it for me, I'd just rather do the prep myself to save money and so I know its not rushed. I dont want to just key up the existing paint cos It might just all fall back off again, so need to take it all off. Anyone know of a good way? I think media blasting may be a bit to harsh, and to sad it off will take forever. Are there any products that will strip paint but not eat the plastic? Thanks guys Gazza

Thats the bit I'm worried about. Are all retro fit HIDs illegal, or just, if like me, you don't have washers? I'm nervous enough now driving round in my car (im 22 so always feel as though people are looking at me thinking I've nicked it, espcially as most the time Im driving round in working clothes), so obviously don't want to give the old bill anything to book me for. Everything else on my car is legal, so would be gutted if my downfall was a 50 quid HID kit. Has anyone had any problems with the old bill? Can washer be retro fitted to my car. I'd assume all the wiring and plumbing is already there, as I was under the impression that all cars come in with standard bumpers, then styling kits are added in the Uk. Anyone got a set of washer they'd like to donate? Gazza

What about police if I happen to pull over? Is it a thing they care about or is it just an MOT thing? I can get the beans set up properly (I'm friendly with the guy who owns my local MOT place), so hopefully reducing risk of glare. Was driving along a dark stretch of dual carriage way last night and couldn't use full bean because of oncoming traffic and could have really done with a bit more brightness so realy want to get some now.
-
Hi guys, I've been reading with interest about all the HID kits. But I've also read that its a legal requirement to have headlight washers. I know ISs come with them as standard, but mine with the Lexus styling kit front bumper hasn't got them. I presume they couldn't be ar$ed to cut and fit them into the bumper. I know the guys with IS300s with the styling kit have had them fitted under warrenty, but because I havn't got HIDs as standard I don't think they'll do it for me. Any advise would be great. Gazza

I was thinking of getting HIDS but bit worried about the headlight washer bit, cos I havnt got any cos Ive got the styling kit. So is it a no no for me? Gazza

My car had its 60k service today, I went to collect it expecting to pay £650ish like I was quoted over the phone, but turns out that cos my car has super long life coolant, it didn't need to be changed, so only ended up payin 570, yay.lol Bad news was one tyre needs changing, but thats no biggie. Service manager said that my car was in perfect health!!! Thank ***. It was also my first experience of Lexus customer service. And on the whole Id say it was brilliant. Had some funny looks when I walked in (22 yr old with spikey hair wearing working clothes walking into a premium car dealership, would did I expect, lol). But as soon as I asked about dropping my car off, I was directed to the service manager, who tooks my details (first of all he couldn't find my car on the list for services for the next day!!!. But a few taps on his keyboard and it was sorted). He then rang me today to say my car was ready but that it needed a new tyre. I went to pick it up tonight (same funny looks). But service guy sorted all the paper work out. Really nice guy. Took me through the service report, it had advisorys about my brake pads, but he told me that they'y be find for another 10k on the backs and 20k on the front, so I was happy. Went out side and instead of being still dirty like I left it, it was all washed and hoovered. So all in all I was chuffed. Any way, enough blabbing on. Gazza
