  1. Yeah I think Il have to set up my pc (just moved house so nothing back to normal yet) and have a play with some colours. Thanks for the input guys. Il report when I sort some pics out Gazza
  2. Yeah a different shade of silver could be nice. Cos at the moment it doesnt match thebody work, but its not different enough to contrast. I've got a couple of spare wheels that both need refurbing so I could try a different colour on them and see what they look like. Don'y suppose anyones got any smoked head/tail lights going begging? Any one pics pics of smoked lights on a Plat Ice car? I need some inspiration. Thanks for the replies Gareth
  3. Hi guys, Im thinking of changing the colour of the wheels on my car. Not green or anything so don't panic. I just quite like the colour of the front wheels if I don't clean them for a fortnight, kind of a dark silver. Has anyone tried any different colour wheels on Plat Ice cars. I love the look of anthacite wheels on darker cars, but havn't seen any on lighter cars to compare. I still got the normal chrome head lights and tail lights so don't know If I'd have to change them aswell. My wheels are the styling kit kit 18's as in my pic below. If anyones got any pics i'd be most apreciative.' Thanks Gareth
  4. Hi Guys, My girlfriend bumped my car into a bus a while ago previous post. No real damage, just a dented and chipped drivers side wing. I thought it would be easy enough to get hold of a replacement. Even thought Id be lucky enough to get a Plat Ice one I could bold straight on. But no luck. Tried the online part finder ones, and only had a couple of quotes, but only for non silver ones and all for 120+, so plus painting thats alot of money. I don't suppose anyones got a Plat Ice one hanging around gathering dust. Not the end of the world if its not silver, cos my bumper needs painting. I just can't really justify spending 100+ on the car at the moment. Thanks in advance Gareth
  5. Don't suppose anyones got a Plat ice drivers side wing hanging round. My dent one had chipped and is starting to rust already. Other colours would be considered but Plat ice preffered.Cheers guys Gazza
  6. Hi guys Was waiting at home for my girlfriend the other night when I had a teary phone call telling me she had scratched my bumper. I asked her which one as I wasn't bothered about the front one cos its needs respraying due to flaky paint. Turns out it was the front one so I said don't worry. Then she said se had clipped a bus about 1/2 a mile away and the bus had stopped so me and my dad jumped in his car to go and sort it out. Got there and the driver was polish (lol sign of the times) but to be fair was nice enough. Basically my gf was turning into a side street as the bus was coming out and the side of the bus kissed the front drivers side corner of my bumper.Pretty much joint responsibility so Im not bothering claiming and stuff cos I'd lose all my o claims. But did get the bus' details. Had a good look at it, and i looks as though the bumper has pushed back a few mm but also pushed the front edge of the wing in a bit making a slight crease. To be be honest you can't tell from a yard to so away so not that urgent especially cos Im half way through buying a house. I've got some money put aside (~500 quid) so il just get it done when I have time. Do you reckon it would be cheaper and better to get a second hand wing either in the right colour and get it sprayed than trying to get the crease removed. Il get the bumper sprayed the same time then. How much would you think to respray bumper (including removing flaky paint) and potentially a wing. I can do the fitting so don't need to worry about labour charges for removal and refitting. Also, do Lexus dealers do repair work. I know they would contract the work out, but can you book it through them? I know it would be more, but I could get a 250 for a week which would be nice.lol. Anyone got a Plat ice drivers wing hanging round? Or another colour if needs be. Cheers Gazza PS I wasn't p***ed off with my girlfriend, was just an accident and the bumper needed doing anyway and yes she still drives it,lol. Although Im looking forward to getting some erm, compensation off her, lol.
  7. The manual box is quite nice, som cars do suffer from being a bit sticky between 1-2 especially when cold. Mine does it slightly, but I find if I make a consious effort to push the clutch all the way down it helps. And when in 6th you can travel at any speed between 30-130 and it doesn't seem to complain. At the moment the tax is 210 (or maybe 215 dont know if its gone up). If was going to be effected by the whole goverment used car price slamming tax hire conspirousy, but it seems thats now been delayed. If your worried about the tax, try and find a pre 2001 car, as it'l stay at the old system of above below 1500cc. Gazza
  8. Go for the IS. You won't regret it. Its not the quickest car in the world, but its enough to be entertaining, not really off the lights cos its a quite a heavy car, but let it rev in second and it sounds fabulous when the VVTi kicks in. Then when you finish playing stick it in 6 and cruise along in near silence. Wheras with the Civin its always a Type r if you know what i mean. Ive got a manual sport and love it, but unfortunatly no cruise on manuals so you have to pick, not been in an auto so can't comment. As for the sport its got LSD, slightly lower suspension on the backs, and little shiney bits like alloy pedals and sill plates. If you can find one with a styling kit go for it (i prefer TTE,see my pic, over the trd, but both are a subtle improvement to the standard car). As for the economy, best thing is don't keep a record of mileage or money spent on fuel and you'll be ok. Just pull the trigger til it clicks, then give the woman your card, its much less painful.lol I hope u make the right choice.lol, you know u want to Gazza
  9. Thanks for clearing everything up guys. How do you know if the 5 times on the switch thing has worked? Does the security light flash or anything? I couple of months ago I needed new tyres so I left my car outside my local garage had opened, having left the spare keythere the day before. Thing is I then have a phone call when I get to work saying they couldn't open the car cos the fob battery had died. And out of habit I had deadlocked the car so he couldn't open the car with the key, only open the boot, which was useless cos the alarm went off any he wouldn't have been able to climb through. Luckily he managed to get hold of a new battery and it was sorted. So what happens if I'd was away from home, with a dead fob or car battery, would there be no way of getting in. Thanks again Gazza
  10. Forgot to say my car is an '03. I just went out and tried what it says in the post i found after searching. I pushed it once and it locked, pushed again it double locked, then pushed a third time to disarm sensors but it didn't work. Was that the disarm sequence for earlier cars? Im confused, i think its just better to not put the dog in the car, from now on Il take the girlfriends fiesta, it hasn't got interior sensors, lol. Cheers Gazza
  11. Hi guys, had my car for nearly 2 years, and yesterday was the first time my parents dog has been in the car. Cos we were only taking him for a walk i just covered all the back seats with a blanket and left. On the way to the beech my dad wanted to pop into b&q, sothe dog was on his own in the car. I didn't know how to disarm the alarm so I left in unlocked while I popped into b&q. When we got to the beech the car park was quiet so I thought Id try and see if the alarm would go off with the dog in the car, cos I wasn't sure if we had interior sensors.Well it did,so I tried sitting in i while it was locked and it went off when I moved. Is there a way to disarm the interior sensors. I know my dads Omega has a button on the dash, but I can't see anything in the lex, and I can't find the manual. Im not that bothered if its not possible cos I don't intend leaving the dog in my car again, I was too paranoid about him scratching the leather, lol, but would be good to know. Cheers Gazza
  12. I've got a tamiya RC shell of one with the TRD kit on (my 1:1 car has styling kit, but its close enough) but I've never got round to painting it.
  13. I bought one of these liners off ebay 18 months ago cos the carpet was badly worn, and can't fault it. Its ideal for me, cos I've forever got something muddy, or oily in my boot cos of my petrol rc cars, so even even if it leaks a bit it doesn't matter cos I can just take the liner out and brush/hose it off. Gazza
  14. Hi guys, I've had my car serviced the last 2 times by Lexus, but both times they didnt have a loan car available. Do you have to book a certain amount of time in advance? Both time I've had the services done i was in a hurry, so couldn't wait. Do you get to pick the loan car? Or do they give you what ever they have lying round? I know some of you have had the new IS and Gs300s. I wouldn't mind a go in a GS, but im more interested in the IS250. My car isnt due for a service for about 4k, so how early do I have to book? Also with the test drive thing, how does that work? Are they picky about who they give the cars to? The thing thats concerning me is Im only 23, and not loaded. Do they have to have a deposit or anything? And is the car covered under they're insurance? Depending how much I can save I may be in the market for a used new shape IS at the end of the year or start of next. I'd just quite like to try one before I save up to make sure its gonna be worth eating gruel for the next 9 months, lol. I don't know what to try, the 220d or the 250, Obviously my heart is telling me 250, but head is saying 220 for the running costs. But looking at all the problems the early 220d have been having with their consumption I'd rather have slightly high running cost than loads of hassle. And I dare say the 250 won't be any worse than my current 200. I really like the idea of a 250 Auto Sport. Cheers Gazza
  15. Its was the Legana look I was going for, but I dont think its worked properly. Hey ho, back to the drawing board, lol. Thanks for the replies guys
  16. Heres a couple of quick ones Ive done with some pics of google What do you guys think? Where should I put the line. What about carbon effect vinyl to try and blend it with the grill? Gazza
  17. Been having a look today, and no really sure where you could put the edge of the black. Has anyone seen Aarons up close, I know he used some vinyl on a standard bumper, but its the idea Im after. Cheers Gazza
  18. Hi guys, Im looking to do some photoshopping tonight, but its too dark to take a decent pic of my car. Preferably high res pics, but they'dprob have to be emailed to me. Im hopefully getting my front bumper resprayed at some point to get rid of some stone chips and scratches, and was thinking of painting the lower bar black similar to P38Aaron's car, but havn't seen any proper pics or of the styling kit bumper. I was just looking to make a subtle change to the front of the car. my email address is gareth_rosey @ hotmail .com if you prefer to email them. Cheers guys Gazza
  19. I was being ironic, if the handling wasn't so damn good I wouldn't be spending so much on tyres on fuel. My car was set to the wim settings in the summer and i've loved it since. Same with the engine note, just love blipping the throttle wen I pull off. Sorry to upset, lol Gazza
  20. 1 - Handling 2 - Engine notewhen revved 3 - Fuel economy caused by the excellecence of the above. I just can't help revving the engine when I pull off or driving in a spirited manour most of the time. Just had to out 2 new tyres on the back because of it. Just can't stop driving my Lexi, lol Gazza
  21. My daily journey is 500 yards to slip road, then 20 miles down M4, the dual carriageway which ends a few hundreds yards from my work, wo 95% of journey is over about 60, usually more. So maybe thats why, Il get some new ones and see how it goes, Il keep a closer eye on them. And Il reduce my tail out driving, lol. Cheers guys, aslong as noone suspect some nightmare geometry problem then Im happy. Gazza
  22. I think I've done about 8000-10000 miles. But I havn't exactly been driving like a priest. But only really tend to try and get the tail out on wet days. But as I said, both rears are worn in the middles, with only a few more mm on the inner and out edges which are even, so don't think its geometry. I've been running 35 psi. Ive got the styling kit 18s with Pirelli P Zero Rossos. Think im gonna just have to gulp and just swallow it, not really what I need at this time of year. Think im just gonna have to be more careful. Gazza
  23. Happened to check my rear tyres while I was cleaning it today, and the rears need changing. I had the geometry done in Febuary when I had all 4 tyres replaced. The tyres are worn down the centers, but evenly on the inside and outside edges. Is this a geometry issue, or is it more to do with air pressure. Ie did I set the pressure when the tyres were cold, then they've warmed up on my 25 mile motorway commute. If its just cos ive set the pressures wrong and I've been having too much tail out fun then I don't mind, its my bad. Just want to check what you guys think. Gazza
  24. Let us know if you solve it, cos I've got the same problem and its really annoying. Heres that link that was in the other thread. bushes Not sure which ones you need. But theres loads there. Gareth
  25. ah right, so what exhaust is that then? Are they trying to pull a fast one? Is there a HKS one that you can remove an insert to make it louder?
