  1. Funny you should say that I was offered £9,750 for my 4 year old ct premier with 57k on the clock No problems and 1 Kerberos alloy. I nearly fell off the chair! I paid £22,700 3 years ago Independent offered me £10,200 still way too low but in the end I bashed out a deal on the new car so was happy overall . I could have got £12,500 for it privately at a push but didn't want the hassle and having it up for sale a while. Plus the car I looked at was the only one I'd found with the spec I wanted within budget. But I can't complain as in the overall context of things my actual finance payment is cheaper than the ct if you add the extra bit of insurance and the £10 road tax I'm getting a 2.5 years newer car bigger better beast f sport for the grand total of £12 extra a month! It really was a no brained in the end
  2. If that had of been my car I would have flatly refused to pay the Lexus service price and only offered the Toyota price which is a considerable amount less! But then again I do love a barter for any old thing. One good thing about using the same dealer over the last 10 years is They know I'm serious wheather buying or selling When I bought my ct I was in there an hour over £4 a month and when eventually the previous finance manager came over I said I told you what I could pay its £4 a month too much over 5 years which is £240 Guess what 2 minutes later he gave me another £5 a month off I think that was one of the reasons he actually took the whole finance situation higher and in the end was able to match the Lexus finance offer but was sick as a chip when I said your 2 hours to late! The thing what probably sickened him the most was I only got them down a grand overall With the ct I ended up getting 3 grand off just about It just shows Don't believe them when they say there's nothing in the car for them or only a few quid profit!!
  3. If you were asking about the dealer I've purchased the car from it was an independent dealer not Lexus dealer Which may explain the cheaper price Lexus dealer wouldn't budge on £25.5k they would only knock 500 off to take it to that price A little too much for my liking The reason I ended up even looking elsewhere wasn't the price initially it was the fact that Lexus finance originally told me if I changed my car for any car didn't even need to be Lexus/Toyota I could get a promotional rate of 3.5% flat After enquiring a secend time after finding a car I liked was told they won't do it with a Toyota or Lexus main dealer as they won't take their sales They were basically taking their sales as I could have gone to bmw or merc and got the rate from them!!! Didn't make sense to me or the finance manager at the dealers He did however take it higher up and was very pleased when he rang me back a couple of days later to tell me he had been authorized that he could match the rate Only to be a little downbeat when I told him I'd already committed to buying somewhere else So effectively Lexus finance had lost the main dealer a sale because of the whole shirarrd
  4. It's the Sheffield dealer buddy Always had good customer service from them and always seem happy to help where they can. The only thing that bugs me is there is no Lexus dealer in Doncaster so it's a 30 minute trip to Sheffield every time
  5. Just a little update on the current situation. I had a courtesy call from my contact at the Sheffield dealership earlier in regards to servicing my current ct as he didn't know I had purchased the is from an independent dealer. Very interesting conversation and a few points I'd like to make. 1. I was told that now to keep any manufacturers warrenty the hybrid cars now must have an annual hybrid health check (free if serviced at dealership £60 as a standalone check) I asked as I have a friend who works at Toyota and always have my cars serviced there then they should be able to do the check as the car is effectively a Toyota. I was told NO! The check needs doing by Lexus. 2. Enquiring about the extended warranty as the 2 for 1 offer its £795 for 2 years but must be serviced at Lexus as a stipulation. By this time I had stopped listening as he told me the pricing for said services the only one I caught was the 6 year 60k service £700!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For a service. Anyway I mentioned regarding the Sat nav screen and it being cloudy and smudged. Because I haven't took ownership of it yet he advised that the dealer to take it into Lexus to look at. But I suspect it will inevitably be left for me to sort. I got the impression from the conversation that it isn't something new as he didn't sound suprised and the first thing he said was bring it in for us to look at and go from there. Because Ive dealt with him for 10 years we have a good relationship and I pushed him a little further about it and was told there's been a fair few complaints about the same issue. My thoughts from the conversation were that they've had plenty of complaints about it and the fact you can make it worse just by touching it!! I must admit I'm getting rather excited now to get the car and think I've got a good deal on it with all the toys including memory seats and full leather etc And it came in £4.5k less than a model in the dealership without full leather or memory seats. It's a slightly older model on a 63 plate and has 25k miles on it which is 11k more than the 14 plate in the showroom but I still think it's a cracking deal I've actually paid less for this is300 than I did for the CT 3 years ago I've paid £21,500 for it in white with premium spec I'd be interested to see people's views as to if it's as good a deal as I think it is.
  6. Yes I will definitely see what there response is I don't pick the car up for another few days or so but once I've got the car I'll get straight onto them.
  7. That's interesting to know as I fully understand its a subjective argument My personal opinion is that if the coating is coming off so easy then there has to be a problem in the manufacturing of that particular piece! I do know the service manager from the Sheffield dealership quite well from over the past 10 years or so and he even sorted my 220 to have the 5th injector done free of charge even though my specific vin wasn't in need of the recall. Total for that particular job was circa £4k apparently! I wil see how I get on with it and may pop in to the dealer if I can't get it to an acceptable standard.
  8. Just noticed this post whilst browsing the is300h forums I had a similar issue to you but not the completely dead part. When I had my 2006 plate 220 that top developed a very serious and undetectable problem. It all started out of the blue and when pulling up to a top the rpm and engine would start murdering violently. Had the car to numerous garages including the dealers. After spending a fortune in diagnostics none could come up with a solution. It had everything from compression tested to sensors changed and all came all to no avail. It was getting rather expensive so I decided to trade it to a different dealer against a ct200h. I've had 3 and just awaiting my 4th Lexus (is300h FSport) and its the only issue I've ever had of a serious nature. That car definitely had an engine problem and it had only done 78k. I'm sorry its probably won't be of any consolation to you but just thought I'd share my similar experience which I washed my hands of before it got into extortionate numbers.
  9. Cheers Ed These are similar although they can be seen even with the screen on if the light is coming from the right angle. Hopefully the garage will sort it but if not I'm sure I can make it look something like. I initially rubbed a damp finger on it to see if it was just smudges and it made more of them so I am quite confident that there will be a way to make it at least respectable
  10. Now there you all go making me feel old! Ive just pulled the trigger on a white f sport at 29! Mind you this will be the 4th Lexus I've had over the last 10 years. Bought my first (is200) at 19 and have never felt the need to look elsewhere. I drive a fair few miles and reliability is up there on my must have list! Over the past 10 years I can count on one hand the amount of repairs I've needed (outside the usual wear and tear and services). In fact I can only actually count 2! A rear shocker on the is200 and new discs on the front of the 220d due to warped discs. The current ct is coming up to 60k and hasn't skipped a beat. My philosophy "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"
  11. Definitely!! As soon as I pick her up I'll post up Got 10 days or so to wait as the plate transfers are being done before I get it Initially I liked the sonic titanium but fell in love with the metallicy sparkle of the white! Only ever seen a cars that are flat white and was very surprised by how nice it actually looks especially with the darker f sport wheels
  12. Thanks pbarrett hopefully just a similar thing and me reading too much into it. As I mentioned in my initial post this will be my 4th Lexus and each one had nav and never so much as had a problem with any of the screens so I was surprised by the other couple of posts. On a sidenote even owning a version of both previous is models the new gen just looks and feels the best yet! After having the ct for 3 years getting back into a big "lump" just felt right at home Even though I currently have the premier ct as soon as I jumped in the 300h f sport I had to have it! Couple that with the fact that the new car is nearly 3 years younger than the ct (a 2011 model) and obviously the class up my monthly finance payment on purchasing is actually lower!!!!! Considering the ct and now the is are similar age at purchasing albeit the is has slightly more miles on at 25k the is I've done the deal on is actually cheaper than I paid for the ct! It's definitely a no brainer to me even the insurance is only a few quid more a month which suprised me! As you can probably tell I'm a happy bunny at the moment!
  13. Yes I did see that thread and that's the one that has got me thinking about it. Initially I wasn't bothered and just thought it was something of nothing much like a streaky window after cleaning
  14. I forgot to add the marks on the screen look like smudge marks and are like cloudy as opposed to scratches Thanks
  15. After owning 3 Lexus models now over the past 10 years starting way back with the is200 1st gen and the is220d 2nd gen I've had a ct premier since 2012 and whilst I still like the car its time for change and I miss the bigger cars I've previously had. So not being totally new to the cars or the hybrids I am pretty chuffed after finding what seems to be a needle in a haystack around my area. That is a is300h fsport with premier spec nave full leather and all the toys. All I could seem to find was the standard fsports with the tahara trim and premium nav which whilst I must admit we're every bit as nice for whatever reason I didn't pull the trigger (I think it was mainly due to not having the auto fold or dipping mirrors as these are to me a great feature) Anyway I've finally pulled the trigger and pit a deposit down on the one I've found although since pitting down the deposit a d going back to sort finances out I noticed the screen of the Sat nav has marks on the screen which don't seem to want to come off. They have said they will try their best with it but it's worrying me after reading a few threads on here about the screens having a coating on and the only way to sort it is to replace the screen. Obviously I don't want to be doing that after spending a he'll of a lot on the car. Somebody put my mind at rest!!! If it is indeed as bad as some suggestions on here and requires a new screen to rectify would this not fall under the manufacturers warrenty as surely a 18month old screen should have an issue being cleaned? I could understand if the cars were 7,8,9 or 10 years old but 18 months doesn't seem right to me Apart from that I'm a happy camper and cannot wait to get the car
  16. Yes I saw about the lever too and originally tried to find it to take a look but didn't know where to start and couldn't find a how to guide A object being jammed may not fix everybody's issues but it is something to have a quick rummage around for before shelling out £'ssss on labour etc if there is something stuck By my assumption it is quite poor that on designing the glove box etc with the upper shelf thing and the flap at the back that someone didn't think oh what if ppl put CDs in there could one get stuck and cause a problem Which it definitely can!!
  17. i had a problem for a while where the front de mister would flash amber on startup or after being turned off for a long period of time. It always worked but was annoying and could have been expensive to fix after agreeing to buy a new car from lexus i which i pick up on tuesday i decided to empty the car this afternoon after getting things out of the glove box it became apparant that right at the back at the top a cd had wedged itself in a plastic flap that is there. After removing it the heater issue was fixed!!! the reason for the post is i have seen a few people have had a problem with the heater doing this and although it can be a costly repair the first thing to check is there is nothing wedged at the back of the glovebox as it seems small objects can get jammed in there!!
  18. Haha yeah my diesel is rather loud!!! I didn't notice much when I booted it on the test drive Tbf I drive circa 20k miles a year and about 2 thirds is a and B roads over wood head to Manx etc and a bit on motorways If I can average 55mpg all told I will be a happy camper
  19. i hadnt really thought about the spare wheel situation but i will address that issue at some point i was seriously considering a 250 fsport today but the only put of for me on the 250 against the ct was insurance as my insurance is expensive even with 7 years ncb at £1300 at 26!!! that would increase a bit as the 250 is higher insurance bracket the second thing was fuel economy which is why i had the 220 in the first place over the 250 im not unrealistic and am not expecting to get 65-70mpg out of the ct but if i can get 55mpg as opposed to 40mpg in the 220 it is still a saving doing 20k miles a year and then there is the road tax exemption. otherwise i would have bought the fsport 250 very very nice cars i must say when the ct first came out i hated it and thought lexus had made a massive mistake with a high end hatch but to say it has grown on me is an understatement and then after driving the car it fits me down to the ground as i said in the op it wont suit everybody but i have seen people saying the ride is stiffer than the 220/250 but personally compared to my 220 i think it drives better than mine but maybe thats down to it being newer another thing i love is the steering wheel!! its smaller than the 220 but its chunky and feels really good in the hand
  20. Yeah they are top people Everybody knows that cars have a markup like anything else the beauty with car dealers is as long as the price you say isn't daft you can usually get there managed to get £2250 off So not a bad day out
  21. Top man thanks pal Any other tips I should be aware of? Or that come in handy
  22. yes i certainly will another interesting thing that lexus sheff told me if people didnt know was that the IS is changing in 2013 and that too is going to hybrid drive so obviously could be another consideration my current 220 is silver with cream leather and iv decided to go for silver again with black leather trim love the cream interior its just a bi**h to keep clean and to clean when dirty.
  23. pick up my new ct200h se-l premier on tuesday and after having a test drive etc i totally forgot to look or ask if the headlights have the automatic function that the is serier do daft question i know but i cant seem to find the info anywhere
  24. finally decided to part ways with my IS220 after 2 years and 45k miles in 2 years i have only had a few minor problems and recently had the egr replaced because it had given up the ghost and other than the usual wear and tear nothing major. Again great reliabilty from a top brand the 220 split the views on here and is a bit like marmite some love it some hate it. i can honestly say i loved the car and it has been a pleasure to drive i think i was lucky as my mpg was not to bad and managed from 40mpg in the winter to 45/46mpg in the warmer months. the car has served me well but it is time to part ways after reaching just short of 100k on the odo i fancied a change, The good new is i will still be knocking around these forums aking for help and advice for my new baby which is being picked up on tuesday. I have decided to dip my hand into the new tech of hybrid land and have opted for a 11 plate CT200h premier after falling in love with the way it drives!! also i think the snazzy nav screen and operation mouse? with the really nice soft leather give the car even more of a luxuary feel being 26 i loved the ride and handleing of the car and it was pokey as well plenty of uumph for what i need the car for i went into the dealer with 2 main criteria and 1 that would be nice but not a deal breaker 1. must have nav (after having it on my 2 previous IS's) 2. must have leather seats (again from 2 previous IS's) and the one i ideally would like was the electric drivers seat i managed to find a car slightly out of my budget but with a bit of haggling with the boss and making it clear if they could reach my price i would buy there and then but if not that i would walk and go to lexus lincoln. they key was making them believe i was being serious about it, which i was and right down to the last £98 i came away a happy customer having agreeing on the car i wanted and giving lexus sheffield a big thumbs up because after agreeing on a price they actually pointed out the car had a scuff which i did not see and said it will be sorted before pickup witha full tank of fuel. Top guys with me doing circa 20k a year i want to see how the hybrid fuel economy and tech stands up to my personal driving style (which is certanly not boy racer, nor is it grandad style) if i can acheive 55-60mpg i will be happy as along with the road tax exemption saving and hopefully cheaper insurance costs, while not expecting it to save me money in the short term it will certainly allow me to only pay out a similar amount to what i currently do for a newer very hi quality motor. having now agreed to purchase this car and having looked at numerous i would advise anyone who is thinking about it to get in and have a drive, the car certainly doesnt feel much smaller than my IS. But equally if you can look at the premier range as i think some of the standard features of the IS (i.e folding mirrors and electric drivers seat etc) are only available as standard in the premier model Sorry about the long post!!!! just another happy customer For the THIRD time :phone:
  25. It seems it can be a lot of things Do you know what error code was found? Mine was P0400
