  1. Where would the carbon build up be? I will certainly give the BG244 a go Although from reading a carbon build up would also cause power deliver problems which I don't seem to have I am worrying that it is a problem with compression and valves which would cost an absolute fortune I have a 3rd part warrenty and the car is booked in for Monday But there are 2 problems with this 1. It doesn't cover problems related to carbon build up 2. As the car has done over 75000 miles any claim is capped at £2000 So I'm a bit worried that of the problem is covered and is also to do with compression it could end up being a lot more than £2000 to fix as the work will be carried out by lexus if its covered I'm just trying to determine what the problem could be caused by It's typical you get a problem just as you are about to sell the damn thing!!!
  2. After a bit of help guys I have a 2006 220d that has recently started developing an idle fault The problem is only intermittent at the moment What happens is that sometimes when I have stopped the and the car is idling it gives a judder as if it it going to stall and the rights itself and yesterday it did actually stall itself twice You can actually see the rev needle jump around a bit when this occurs Does anybody know what the problem could be Any help is appreciated as I am in the process of maybe upgrading the car so I need it to be right to be able to sell the car Thanks
  3. has anybody updated to the latest 2010/11 E13 dvd part no: PZ485-X03EU-10? if so does anybody feel generous enough to image the dvd and send it to me? (obv all costs would be covered) It doesnt have to work in the car just a complete dump of the image on disc The reason for this is This year Navteq have changed the compression on the nav dvds and i would like to try a few things but dont have the image to mess with It doesnt mean anything in regards the layer break and being able to get a working copy with the new firmware that to now is still a no no BUT you just never know it would be really appreciated.
  4. as far as im aware from what the guys told me is that it will not replace the 220 well at least not yet and also it is a de tuned 2.2 i am informed now
  5. just been having a chat with a fella who works in the lex dealers local to me about the oem boot spoilers. After saying i liked them he said he'd do me a unpainted 1 for £100 is that a good deal bearing in mind its oem from the dealers? painting a fixing won't be a problem as i have a mate who owns a bodyshop so what you guys think?
  6. As far as I was aware I thought it was a 2 litre but stand to be corrected
  7. The car is availible to buy today and the dealer i work has a demonstrator. The car is classed as an MY11 but everybody can try one today. My opinion is the car is not quite as quick but more refined and better fuel consumption. it does feel more refined i have a 2006 220 and you do feel a slight differece from mine in respects of the way it drives and the gearing i cant comment o the economy as i only had it for 20 or so mins while mine was finished being valeted. but then again i seem to be a luck one as my economy on mine is always in the 40's unless i thrash it while mine was in there for the brake master cylinder recall they did the engine overall and fith injector for me too so im quite happy and if that can squeeze a few mor mpg out of it ill be over the moon iv not driven a 2009/10 model se/se-l so couldnt compare the new 200 to that so maybe someone else could but the f-sport they gave me was very nice to say the least and it was the diesel f-sport and it drove like any other petrol ive driven in the lower gears and rev band so for me that is a nice car as is the 200 from my test (play) drive
  8. Was pleasent actually seems they have changed the gearing ratio slightly but that may be because its only a 2 litre I had a new fsport while mine had the recent recall done and to be honest it is similar in many respects handling etc obvioulsy not the sportier delivery the fsport gives and the gearing was different which is to be expected but it the 200d is slightly different gear ratio to my 220d Had all the bells and whistles MM and parkig sensors etc looks the same as the current range denect handling from what I could tell with the limited time I drove it On the whole I think its another option from. The 220 and another step in the right direction for the diesel And also something else for a customer to think about if they are upgrading
  9. im just wondering if its possible to retrofit the new 220/250 wing mirrors with the indicators to the pre 2009 models that dont have them? i know that the indicators are on the body panel on the older model but i was thinking maybe you could tap into the indicator wiring there and have both working, and kinda like the idea if possible to have both working
  10. From what I know the software on the 2010 model is because it uses a newer navigation unit and the new firmware upgrade on the new maps will nop upgrade the interface just the database and remove a couple of nannies HTH
  11. cheers for the advice fella, i now have swpped the 200 for a 220 so will never no what the problem was as it never got sorted
  12. you need to make sure the navigation models are the same. if they are the same then it should work, but if the nav units are of a different generation then they wont work do you know what gen the nav system is and what numbers to you have on the disc installed in your car?
  13. this is funny you should mention this when i had my 200 i had a similar problem whereby when i had the air con on the passangers side would blow cold air as it should and the drivers side would blow warmish air out (as if the air con wasnt working) i had the air con system checked and there was no problem with it the problem was ongoing for over a year and never found the problem incidently the center vents which look like two seperate vents are actually one and went i undid the vent and put my hand in one side of it was cold and the other warm yet it was the same physical vent
  14. does anybody know where you can the the male and female rear connectors that toyota/lexus uses on the wiring harness that pluges into the back on the is220/250 multimedia system im wanting to do the nav hack but want to do it in such a way that it is totally 100% reversable so i need to source the male and female connector parts anybody know where i can get them? ive seen the kits knockin around from prolex and the like but dont want to spend x amount of £'s on something that wouldnt cost that much at all providing i can source the connectors thanks
  15. wims alignment is a modified version of the factory guide and basically and a general problem with the is200 is the excessive inner tyre wear leading to needing regular tyre changes on the front which gets very annoying and expensive WIMS modified guide sorts this out and gives you an even tyre wear and most members swear by it and also highly reccomend WIMs
  16. as above ball joints and sticking calipers can cause this also check alignment.
  17. Yeah that's the only thing it can't do yet But I think for the £140 I'd pass it up I'm sure there will be a software override soon enough!
  18. i replaced my discs and pads on mine and within 3 months it was back i remember reading that if this hapens it is something to do with the hub what the wheels and discs sit on being warped also and it it worthwhile checking you dont have a seized caliper if mine was stood for over a day it woul stick again but as i was trading in and didnt really get what i was after i thought sod it im not going to bother although in hindsight it maybe was a ok price it was a 52 plate is200 nav with 95k on clock slight average reapair on driver door along the crease line (so always see some evidence of repair as its the creaseline) engine management light on (bank 1 emissions fault maybe o2 but couldnt be sure) and a weeping brake hose causeing handbrake and trc lights to flash (£60 fix) got £2600 for her about a month ago so maybe wasnt so bad after all but i would check your caliper, check discs again and the "hubs" (or whatever there called which the discs attatch too checked) take tyres to a different shop and have them checked for being buckled then go from there im affraid its going to be a elimination process which is even more frustrating. I know how you feel
  19. Now edited Right folks I have successfully modified the new 2010 disc and have it working There seems to be many members people having trouble with this and ending up with £'s worth of coasters The torrents floating about are not just download and burn as a lot of people have found out they must be modified. I have had to take the firware update out so unfortunately no input on the move but for the oem price for me at least that is totally justafiable as a will not spend £150 on a update!! Pm for details
  20. edit take the car in to the garage you bought it from and tell them that there is a problem with the nav unit (reverse camera) because you have only just bought it the garage should have to fix this as long as it withing the first 30 days i think (somebody correct me if i am wrong) i think it comes under something like not fit for purpose plus all garages must offer at least a 30 day warrenty most do 3 months standard found this from advice guide If you think that any of these might apply to your situation, before taking any action against the seller, you should report the matter to Consumer Direct on 0845 404 0506. Also, in the case of personal injury, you should take legal advice on your claim. Refund Whether you can return the car and demand your money back depends in part on how long you have had the car and how many miles it has travelled before reporting the fault. If the fault is serious and you have not done many miles and return (reject) it very shortly after purchase, you may be entitled to a full refund. If, however, you keep the car for a longer time without returning it, you may lose this right, although you may still be entitled to ask for the fault to be rectified. If you are entitled to a refund, this will include both the money you paid for the faulty car and the return of any part-exchanged car. If the part-exchanged car has since been sold, you are entitled to the cash value as represented on your paperwork. Replacement or repair If the car is faulty and you have left it too late to claim a refund or you don't want one, you can ask the dealer to replace or repair it free of charge. If you do this within six months of receiving the car, and it is reasonable to expect it to have lasted for the period of time you have had it, it will be assumed that the problem existed when you bought the car, unless the dealer can show otherwise. However, you can still ask for a replacement or a repair for up to six years from the date that you bought the car, if it is reasonable for it to have lasted that long. In this case, it will be up to you to show that the car was faulty at the time of sale. The longer you have had the car, the more difficult it is to prove that the fault was there at the time of sale. If:  it is impossible to replace or repair the car; or  replacement or repair would be unreasonably costly for the seller when compared with alternative remedies; or  the seller fails to replace or repair the car within a reasonable time of having agreed to do so, or causes you significant inconvenience then:  you can ask for a partial or full refund. The amount of money you get back may be reduced to take account of any use that you have had out of the car. Compensation You may be entitled to compensation if:  the contract has been broken (breach of contract) because the vehicle is not as described, of satisfactory quality or fit for its purpose  the dealer has made a false statement about the car to make you buy it (for example, telling you it has had a new engine fitted when the engine is reconditioned)
  21. have you tried disconecting the negative terminal from the battery for a few mins?
  22. the ste is definately genuine a lot of members reccoment you to buy from there so i wouldnt worry about it being dodgy out of interest what version are you currently running?
  23. if the wheels are not buckeled i would put a bet on it being warped disks and a seized caliper!! warped disks are more common than people think on the is200
