  1. this may sound daft but i had a similar problem have you checked your discs and that you dont have a seized caliper i had a slightly warped disc on mine coupled with a seized caliper and at 65mph the vibration/judder was terrible but note it was also bad under braking and dived to one side if i broke hard also with this problem when i got to about 70-80 the car felt normal
  2. for the moment if the maps in your system are running 2008-2009 maps there is a way to use get them working! but as stated before for the time being there will be no input on the move but everything else will be updated i think the 2008-2009 maps are labelled e11
  3. firstly what year of map is it 2005? ive succesfully managed to get hold of a 2008-2009 map which ive sorted out so it actually works all the rubarb on the net is a waste of time and they dont actually work been running mine successfully and i dont have the original. Its a complicated process and you need to have a specific burner speed and certain settings otherwise your wasting your time pm me and ill give you some details
  4. also what might be helpful for other members is that the fact that the egr n some other parts in the engine and pistons which on the older models are suceptable to carbon build up like the above and mine up until the facelift are coverd by a 5 year warranty by lexus and if (you complain about fuel eco and using a lot of oil) they will get authorisation from the top to fit the modified parts from the post facelift model which dont have this defect the reason nothing is mentioned is because i was told by a lexus dealer that they have guidelines to only apply for authentication to do the work IF the car has broken down due to this or if the car is burning too much oil, as it is a £3.5k job mines going in for the modified parts once iv completed 1000 miles!!
  5. can i ask where u downloaded it from? as that would be ok for my needs too providing i could get it to work if you dont want to post links feel free to pm me
  6. ive been looking around the net to see if the new nav update is available for download but come up drawing a blank there are loads for russia and the us but nothing for west europe i noticed some1 on the forum (cant remember who) said they managed to download one so im just putting the question out there as to if there is anywhere out there to download the update as i will not pay lexus £140 for a update as i think the price is extortionate but then again im a tight a**e so come on peeps this must be doable and be available somewhere
  7. agreed the mk2 is has been a bigger seller which is why in my opinion they should be trying to perfect that first! i think the big companies are also getting dragged into the whole oh crap we've had this model for 5 years now we better change the whole car the days are gone now when a new car looked dated after 3 years the technology is there now along withe the engineering and design of these new cars which if you look at the 2nd gen is still looks the dogs danglies nearly 5 years into production and i think still would for the next 5 years minor tweaking with facelift models shows that the range is still evolving and not standing still without the whole need for a revamp. This way companies would end up with as near to a perfected car and drive as is possible when you start rushing out and revamping new models and generations it takes resources away from refining what you already have and everything sorta gets half arsed and not bothered about because there concentrating on the next 1
  8. thats what i was thinking. I think lexus are getting dragged into a straight fight with the big germans and are never going to win lexus has always had a selling point of being unique and offering great cars spec'd upto your eyelids they seem to be getting trapped in this argument and are chasing something which ultimately they are never going to catch simply because the car is to heavy for what they are trying to do and the germans are technically more advanced on the diesel front because thats what they have been doing for years personally im not a fan on the new bmw's or mercs because they dont have that luxury feeling when you sit in them anymore but if i was buying a brand new car and number 1 on the priority list was fuel economy i would run straight to the bm dealer and drop my piggy bank on their desk look at the is200 it was a huge success for all its production life it wasnt anywhere near the best in terms of economy but had that something that was a little bit different and wasnt 1 of a number on the motorway or around town i think probabily the best thing lexus could do would be to forget about trying to compete on the economy front and actually perfect the diesel engine. You will get the die hards who will then still slate it because it isnt as economical as the rest but then they should just buy the bm's and c classes and have done with it but what lexus would ultimately have then is - a perfected engine - massive spec - lower emmisions - something that you want to drive and not just something you have to drive - add to that the optional extras like the MM package put a list like that up against any car that only has one thing in its favour which is a better fuel economy for me i know which one would win hands down. not everything is a figures game
  9. now looking at the figures from the 2010 220d (figures only) if this piece is accurate the mpg will be worse than currently stated the 2010 220 is supposed to do 54mpg is it not? over 10 seconds to 60!!!. I think if they do this is will be a disaster, it may offer slightly better fuel economy but i doubt its going to be any fun to get around in.
  10. taken this from a website how accurate it is i dont know but thought it may make a interesting read Toyota has announced today the Lexus IS200d price for the European market and the fact that the new version goes on sale today. The Lexus IS200d is powered by a 2.2-liter diesel 4-cylinder engine that develops 150 hp and 400nm of torque. The company also says that the 2.2-liter engine on the 2011 Lexus IS200d will have a slightly high output of 177 hp with the same amount of torque. the 150 hp version of the Lexus IS200d needs 10.2 seconds to reach 100 km/h and has a top speed of 205 km/h. Since this is a diesel, most people will be interested in its economy. The Lexus IS200d has a 5.1 liters per 100 km fuel consumption, which is the equivalent of 46 mpg. The CO2 emissions level of the Lexus IS200d are 134 g/km. The 177 hp version of the Lexus IS200d has a 5.5 liters per 100 km fuel consumption and 144 g/lm CO2 emissions level. The Lexus IS200d will be sold in two trim levels, base and Executive, and will come with a long list of standard equipment. The Lexus IS200d features Bluetooth, Smart Key, 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control and a leather steering wheel and gear shift knob. The Lexus IS200d price starts at 32,900 EUR for the base version and goes up to 36,000 EUR for the Executive model.
  11. haha that was a typo 2206 id be impressed with that as well now edited!!
  12. well i just the other day took my new is220 se (2006 model) into the dealers for a couple of outstand recall bits that needed doing and moaned to them that the mpg wasnt right on the way to the dealers i reset the trip and got a 35 avg mpg they said they'd look at it went to pick the car up later that day and they said they needed to speak to me and they said that they needed the car back in for a full engine re-strip to sort the fuel economy peoblem bear in mind id only had the car 3 days so i wasnt best please until the nice chappie said well be in touch in the next few days because it can take a couple of days to get warrenty clearence for this type of work (i thought warrenty? i dont have a lexus extended warrenty and i bought from a independant garage of which i have their crappy 3 year warrenty) but it looks like they may be tring to do it as a good will or smething i dont no until they call anyways i thought ill reset the trip again and seen what i get on the return journey (exactly the same distance and exactly the same route) was very suplised i actually averaged 45.5 mpg iv been driving very short distances since to shops and around town and its never gone below 39-40mpg and currantly on 41 so they must have done something from a £20 spot of dielsel at £1.16 a litre i got 165 miles this is with a very good few miles of town and local driving! which i dont think is too bad
  13. well just been to pick the car up from the garage YIKES it needs a engine strip! for the fuel economy problem!!! as i walked in the garage i got a o mr reeves dave needs to speak to you i though s**t. so anyways apparantly will be getting a call in the next few days from lexus about it although they must have done something as i cleared my trip this morning and on the way there i got 34.5 reset it for the same trip back and got 45.6 avg and as high as 48 on the motorway very very strange and also that the garage need clearence to dismantle my engine! i dont even have lexus extended warrenty so unless its a known problem they are fixing then god knows im certainly not paying having only pick the car up monday.
  14. haha what makes is even worse was my is200 was an auto box so going to the manual whilst it is different is also *easier* to get used to the gearing of the 220d love the car and the drive to be honest, i really dont have a problem with the way it drives or the gear ratio (maybe because of my previous 2 cars both bein auto so easy to get used to a manual that to some people would gear a bit strange or odd in comparison to the big germans) the 200 i had was on a 52 plate and was really just starting to get the first few minor niggles with it and prob was the start of it going to cost a bit to keep it running smooth! i had a on going problem with the brakes juddering under braking the discs and everything were changed and nobody (even lexus) could seem to cure it. Overall though the 200 served me well for 3.5 years and other than wear on tyres the only work it needed doing was the rear shocker the aircon had a strange problem that lexus wanted £££££'s to even look at (one side of the car was cold as it should be from the A/C and the other side was warm strange enough the center vent the left was cold and the right was warm upon inspection i was suprised to see the two vents are actually 1 behind the dash so that puzzled the dealer as to why half could be cold and half warm!! im just hoping that the new 220 will give me the reliabilty again for the next 3-3.5 years. Having read the threads about all the niggles rattles and squeekes ppl have had in theres iv so far (touch wood) not found any! When i dropped the car of in sheff this morning i was kinda hoping the would give me a hybrid loaner just for curiositys sake to see how they drive!
  15. exactly which is why i would be over the moon if i could acheive 40 im not heavy footed and usually drive steady (been there done that with the thrashing and crashing jobbie) we'll see where were at when t comes bk from the dealer hopefully later today! on a side not the fsport which they have given me although brand new with some subtle changes to exterior and a few more gadgets inside i did find it really bland it has no MM system and i think that is a massive difference to the feel of the interior plus the interior is black half leather! i noticed when driving it it does rev quicker so shorter gear ratio and i think i must be the only 1 on the forums here that actually prefer the way the 220se drives over the fsport strange but true if the car comes bk and i can acheive 40-42 ill be a mightily happy bunny!!
  16. i was talking about the egr valve not the fith injector iv just taken the car to the dealer reset trip averaged 34.5 on the way there the dealer gave me a is220F sport and the same journey on the way back averaged 47.8 now there is something seriously odd there a Fsport averaging way more no given it is brand new and it does slightly more mpg that the 2006 model but a fsport and by that much i dont think so surely
  17. thanks for the diag seems to be that may be where iv been going wrong!!! its off to the dealers in the morning and they said they will look at the mpg issue and i will be asking them to clean the egr valve and check the 5th injector but i will also try it myself when i get bk home to 1. see if its been done and 2. so i can do it myself in future im still struggling to see how a diesel car can strugle to get a decent mpg even if its heavy or not!! although i did do a 125 mile round trip tonight on mainly A&B roas with maybe 30 miles motorway and it cost around £17 at £1.14 a litre (from shell) where as it would cost me £27 ish to do the same trip in my recently repaced is200 which works out about 38mpg (although the trip showed avg of 34.8 go figure) so its not too bad but i would like to achieve 40+
  18. yeah i know what you mean mate iv just upgraded to a 220 from a 200 a bought independant because of a lot better price now its in there tomorrow for some recall bits that are outstanding and asked them to look at the mpg because i dont think its right and also clean the egr valve which is 6 bolts and they dont really want to no
  19. yes thats the next thing i will be doing the car is going in tomarrow for the recalls and they said they will look at the mpg and as im still struggling withe the rear bolts on the egr am going to ask the to give it a clean im not in a hetic area and would probs get 75 miles for £15 @ £1.14 a litre (petrol in my is200) (thats a decent 12o mile trip Mixed mway and A&B roads) and obviosly thats what im comparing the 220 to the trip was saying i had 58 miles remaining and i put £15 diesel in at £114 litre and the trip now shows 151 miles remaining i no this isnt very accurate it does just seem a little strange so basically give or take its giving me 100 miles for £15 give or take a quick calc reveals that IF the trip is correct saying i will get 100 miles for my £15 thats a average mpg of around 36mpg hmm if i can up this into the 40+ bracket i will be a happy bunny
  20. i certainly do hope as i think what the tank average mpg is showing is ludacris for any diesel i know its well documented that the 220 is a lot heavier but still i would have thought 40mpg should be about average and would be happy with 40 as coming from a is200 which was giving me about 22mpg should still give me a saving not to mention the road tax will be cheaper which is also a help ill have another go this morning with the egr bolts near the battery when i tried a actually couldnt get the ratchet inbetween the pipe and underneath
  21. i wouldnt have thought so i had a parrot installed when i had my is200 and it never interfeard with it but then again it was hard wired to the speakers and only the mute wire went to the head unit did you purchase the car from a garage? because it sounds like a duff unit i have a unit here which i took out of mine with a similar problem the cd part does nothing but the lights still flash
  22. the first thing i want to do is clean the egr valve (the tank trip is showing average mpg of 27.9!!!!!! wtf) i have had a look in the bay but cannot see how the heck i am going to get to the rear 2 bolts near the battery to get it off the fronts shouldnt be too hard just the sponge bit to work around. Any advice on this would be appreciated its going into lexus on fri to have the power steering and rear caliper recall done having asked about the ecu remap and 5th injector they basically told me there wasnt a recall are the talkin s**t to me? the car is a 2006 is220D se + MM and i have 3 years warranty with the garage(independant) how good it will be i dont know is there any other things i should be asking them to check do whilst im there (without having to pay :-)) cheers peeps
  23. with the is200 cd player you dont need to hold the load button that may be why it is beeping at you just press it once the lights at the side of the cd slot should be orange to start with and the go gree when its ready to accept a cd try this first if no it maybe that the previous owere has tried to have a dabble themselves with a faulty player and not re-assembled it correctly
  24. right just a quick update as i havent picked my car up yet but i did find some more info out about the grom and the is220 it is fully compatable with the is220 (you may need to back the different hu cable) but if you are upgrading from a 2003+ aged is200 the cable is the same the only drawback of this grom device is that there is no playlist and artist infor swhown on the screen when connected up you will see the following on the MM screen Disk # Track # Track Time # but if you upgrading and dont have the £ for the viastech or similar which shows the artist and track info this is a viable cheap solution and if you already have the device from your first gen IS the most it will cost you is £15 and the sound is ten fold better than the aux port in the 2nd gen and you have the safety of knowing you dont need to look at your ipod to change tracks.
  25. yeah thats y i asked i saw it on ur name thingy but i could have sworn they dropped it for the 220 for the silver
