  1. Yes it seems the dealer had to tell them how to find them Hopefully this is the problem sorted Just out of curiosity could a faulty/poor egr valve cause the car to idle rough and stall out?
  2. Another quick update The garage have been in contact with lexus and have managed to get the stored codes from the ecu The code returened was P0400 Which is the egr valve It has been authorised by the warranty company and is being replaced Hopefully this will solve the issues Strange that the egr valve was actually replaced by lexus 40,000 miles ago
  3. Yeah the garage it is in is a Honda dealer where I bought the car and they said they will speak to lexus in the morning I have a feeling it will be going to the dealers as last time I had warranty work done it did On the plus side if it does go dealers I am going to see if I can arrange for a courtesy car and see if I can get a ct200 to see if it suits my needs
  4. Yes I put it in before the engine light and check vsc came on I'm just wondering if that had anything to so with it?
  5. Just a quick update car had been in the garage for 2 days and apparently they can't find anything wrong with it!! Which there clearly was/is!
  6. Yeah I keep reading the pros and cons and I'm not sure it will suit me as I have read that you generally get more mpg on A roads and city driving than longer drives And as I do 3 or 4 100+ miles trips I may be better of with a diesel whic may ultimately sway me over to a c class blue efficiency sport
  7. Yes we'll hopefully it isn't something major as I am about to prepare the car to get sell and upgrade so hopefully it will be something of nothing Deliberating whether to spend the extra £££ on the ct200 hmm
  8. Yes the car has been started 3 times since and the lights are still off It's a very strange situation
  9. I think I may purchase one It's very strange as I had a service done 2 weeks ago and specifically specified that they cleaned the egr valve!! Which they confirmed after they did it The car is booked in the garage tommarrow to be diagnosed so I don't know if I should look myself today also what's even stranger is that this happened when I was on the way to Cambridge which is 100 mile trip so had to get home and I drove home today with the lights still on at about 80mph with no problem and just got in the car and the lights have now gone off??
  10. I really hope it is and maybe if it was that could explain the rough idle and couple of stalls?? I hope so ill have a look see if I can find the vsc thread
  11. After having a very intermittent problem with a rough idle and a couple of stalls On the motorway today the car went into limp mode and the dash lot up like a Christmas tree!! Engine management light, traction control light and check vsc on the display Now I am getting very worried and been searching all over the forums Any ideas what the problem could be? I'm getting worried as this sounds very expensive! Thanks in advance
  12. Yes I saw the post and I posted in it hoping I would get a reply from the guy The difference with mine is that the heater is not jammed on the front screen and returns to normal after a few seconds Having said that it may be I was just unsure as it only happened after the battery was removed and replaced I could do with finding out how to get to the part and what it looks like to see if I can fix it as above I'm just a bit dubious as I have a third party warrenty that the car is going in to be diagnosed for a rough idle and stalling to see if its covered I may just ask them to have a look at that as well
  13. Tried that still the same problem I have noticed that when the ignition is off you can hear a noise like something is trying to do something a few times and if I wait till this has stopped the system works as normal but if I try again before the noise stops then I get the orange blinking light
  14. I'll give it a whirl It's definitely a strange problem since it only occurred after battery was removed
  15. Has anybody managed to solve this problem? Mine has just started acting up What's strange is it only started after the battery was disconnected for an hour or so Any help appreciated
  16. In a follow up to my other thread I took the battery out of my 220d to get it replaced After being told It wouldn't be here until tommarrow I put the old battery back on and re initialised the auto windows But I have a problem when I start the car the front windscreen button with the orange light flashes for a while before the heater will function Now I know this definitely did not do it before Am I being stupid and is there something I need to do to get it to function correctly The unit is the multimedia unit if that makes any difference And the battery was out of the car for over an hour
  17. Quick update Had the battery tested at Toyota who showed me the test results and gave me a print out which showed the battery as having near enough full charge but poor health and the tester said to replace battery Tool battery to euro car parts where it was purchased who tested it and said it was fine After a phone call to Toyota about the test they were still adamant there was nothing wrong with the battery but have agreed to replace it tommarrow Could this be the cause? I'm still not convinced it is
  18. Checked battery earth connections and all seem good Going to have the battery tested to be on the safe side just to rule the out I have the cleaner in my fuel system so I will see if that helps Is there anything else that I could or should be checking?
  19. Well hopefully if there if it is a problem with carbon build up causing the car to judder and stall occasionally at idle hopefully the BG244 will clear it out and maybe cure the problem Here's hoping Although I do have a funny feeling that it maybe something to do with the compression and that's gunna cost a packet!! Although saying that its only done 40k since the engine was rebuilt and 5th injector replaced so I would have thought that would have been in order
  20. Yes definitely I will have a look tommarrow see if its all as it should be Going to get the battery tested tommarrow as well just to rule that out Although the battery is only 12 months old so I'd be inclined to think that that's fine Was just a bit odd that the clock wasn't the right time
  21. At the risk of sounding stupid where would the ends be located?
  22. Also I have just noticed in the car that the clock is not at the right time Could this somehow be linked to the problem? Or is that just a coincidence
  23. Thanks for that I had the egr cleaned 2 weeks ago whilst being serviced In 2010 it had the 5th injector done at lexus with the valves and what not (not 100% sure what else was done) I do about 300-400 miles per week a mixture of short trips and 100+ trips Owned the car since 2010 and serviced regularly 5th injector was done at 58000 miles I'm now on 95000 Ill purchase the BG244 Any other tips?
