  1. Hi and welcome. I was in Copenhagen last week for the first time – nice city, so I hope my boss lets me go back!!
  2. The 300 is fantastic! I’ve had mine just over a week and it really is a great machine, you will love it. Mine’s still on an ordinary “54” plate whilst we wait for the DVLA to do their stuff with the paperwork and let me use my personal reg. The new plates are in the garage, just waiting. Apparently, it can take up to 6 weeks nowadays.
  3. That sounds like a familiar process. I've had my IS300 a week now, and I like it more & more.Welcome!
  4. I know that feeling. Becoming a Lexus owner is special. On Friday morning, as I parked up at work, one of my colleagues said “I wondered who had just got the Lexus – nice car”. He drives a Reliant Scimitar and therefore knows a nice car when he sees one. Welcome, and enjoy the car.
  5. I am a definate maybe for this - depending what my boss throws at me!
  6. I’m Ian, 43 for a few more days, and I joined the happy band of Lexus owners just a few days ago. I’m delighted with my IS300 SportCross. My last rear wheel drive car was a Triumph Dolomite and since then, it’s been front drive all the way (MG Metro, Rover 216 (x2), Rover 220 (shame about the head gaskets) and most recently a thoroughly reliable and very comfortable Honda Accord). The Lexus is fun! I now live in Derby, having returned here at Easter after 5 years living in Helensburgh on the beautiful west coast of Scotland (and mostly working in Glasgow). Apart from the car, my garage is home to a Honda VFR which has been my pride and joy for nearly 7 years and has recently been joined by a Honda Pan European – the perfect bike for long trips! The mountain bike lives in there too. So, while the garage is crowded, the house is pretty quiet most of the time – just me! But I do have 2 boisterous nephews who invade from time to time and a Godson who lives just round the corner. For my job, I’m an Engineer by degree and training, but it’s so long since I got my hands dirty that I have forgotten almost everything I ever knew – which makes me perfectly qualified to work as a Project Manager in the rail industry. Here's the fleet:
  7. Hi, and welcome to LOC. The manufacturer’s warranty is indeed 3 years. I collected my car yesterday. It will have its 3rd birthday in October but the dealer, Lexus Derby, has extended the manufacturer’s warranty until next May to give me a full year of cover. They did give me the hard sell on further warranty extension, but I have not gone with it. After a year of Lexus ownership, I shall consider what to do next but something which does so well in the JD Power surveys shouldn’t need much extra attention.
  8. The RX8 looks stunning, and you obviously loved the test drive. To me, it seems like you've answered your own question there. Enjoy!
  9. I took the photos in my garden!! OK, I lied. It is Calke Abbey, just a few miles from here.
  10. After a week and a bit wait (partly to sort out the money, partly because I was away over the bank holiday weekend), I picked up the car this afternoon. First impressions? Well, the dealer is fantastic. Handover is done in a dedicated indoor area, which was good because it was a pretty showery afternoon, so no getting wet. And the whole deal came with a beautifully presented bottle of champagne in a nice wooden box to celebrate becoming a Lexus owner. My personal number plates were also all made up, and drilled, ready to fit when the DVLA sort their paperwork. Very impressed. And the car – yes, it is everything I expected. Well happy. So, here are a few photos, before it gets dirty!
  11. On the 10th, I am still on the Isle of Man, so won't be able to make this. Shame, I was looking forward to meeting folks.
  12. White's growing on me. I dithered about the car I'm buying for several days before taking the plunge because I wasn't certain about the colour. And you can't change yours yet, you've only had it a little while!I see that Mr ivanovoitch has now added the text to his otherwise almost blank post and is asking an intelligent question. This counts me out of the debate. Colours I can cope with, the finer points of Lexus choices are still beyond me!
  13. No, go for white. It's the new black, don't you know?
  14. I’d like to come along, but it largely depends what work throws at me. But, the end of May or beginning of June is not good timing. Don’t you know there’s proper racing on a small island in the middle of the Irish Sea – and it’s the centenary year this year? Yes, of course, it is Isle of Man TT time and I shall be there (by bike, not by Lexus, obviously).
  15. Oo, another white one! I'm glad you're enjoying your car, I've got to wait until Tuesday to get mine, but the colour claims to be Chamonix White. Pictures here.
  16. That's the bit that worries me. My last white car was a Triumph Dolomite. Not only did that needed keeping clean but it also needed the rust keeping at bay. Hopefully I won't have the rust problem with this!
  17. There was me, thinking that an IS300 SportCross would be a rare car in Derby, and along comes another one......... Ho, hum! Thanks for the directions, Janet. That is precisely the route I shall choose when I bring it home on Tuesday next week.
  18. OK, here they are, and it's not even mine yet!
  19. ........... well, it will be as soon as the paperwork is all sorted, anyway. I had to take my insurance docs in today so the dealer can tax it, and there was my car, sitting in the sun looking all beautiful. Worth a couple of snaps: So, now you've all seen a white SportCross!
  20. Niether have I... Get a few pictures posted Ian! I shall do so, as soon as it's mine - only a week to wait!
  21. Thanks for the welcomes, folks. Yup, just 3k on the clock, effectively a brand new car. Lexus serviced every 12 months. Alistair was the salesman - I made him work for his money, though!
