Lets just face it guys the is200 is a amazing car that makes me giggle like a little girl when it takes off but in the real world it aint that fast i have had my ***** wooped many times by cars i thought would be left for dust its a big car with alot of weight and that 2.0 engine just aint enough if you want more power feel free to put a supra engine in or a is300 or just do what i do use your imagination and think my name is michael knight my cars name is kit no one can beat me no matter what it works forget about your fancy turbos and super chargers just think your going really fast and play some good driving tunes yeah i know i talk a load of crap lol laters BIGDAVE -
My gear stick does the same thing and its getting worse have been told by another mechanic its my passenger side caliper he has seen the fault before i did notice that disc get a little hotter than the other he said it has something to do with brake fluid clogging up when it gets to hot and hardens i know the guy so hes not trying to pull a fast one he can even get me calipers new for 45 pounds this is my next port of call on payday laters BIGDAVE

My is200 is a w so pretty much the same thing i have had my tracking done so i dont think its that i have had a feeling one of my calipers is faulty for a while just trying to get some new ones so if my problem gets fixed it will be on here asap I checked the price of a repair kit there about 60 pounds from lexus but a breaker on ebay will do you 2 calipers for about 100 I was told by a guy at the lexus dealer its common for older is200's to have this fault with calipers its all if's and buts still tho guys sorry cheers BIGDAVE

check the tyres are not an irregular shape. if you had warped discs at first they can wear the tyre unevenly making it sort of go egg shaped. jackit up spin it and use a brick or sometring close to the tyre to see if it is spinning true. sometimes shape of a uneven worn tyre can shock you. basic check that could save you running round in circles ghanging discs and pads at expense of your wallet Full set of new tires good ones New pads discs the works only 2 months ago still there lol cheers tho had thought it could be that till they got changed Its just a mystery maybe i should get scooby doo on this one -

Where Do You Recommend For Servicing On A Budget?
bigdave-is200 replied to Isilduir's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
Hi I changed my timing belt at 100 thousand and thats what i have seen most recomend As for your service if you still have full service history from lexus keep it that way for future value I used to work for volvo i know how boring and it could really affect your cars value If this is something you dont care about do it yourself i find it pretty easy and helps you get to know your engine i buy most of my parts off ebay and fit only the best. i find it hard to trust what some people can service your car with Give me a message if you would like any advice on what parts to use and where to get them Laters BIGDAVE -

bigdave-is200 replied to Dan_Harris's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
Just popped to my local lexus dealer and spoke to one of the mechanic's i have been informed on older reg is200's its common for the caliper to develop a fault and this fault fits all of the symptoms and makes alot of sense to me so i guess its buy the repair kit or get some new or refurb ones got the price for the repair kit about £60 pounds would be good if anyone knows where to get these kits at a cheaper price anyway im going to pick these calipers up of my mate soon clean them up fit them and will post my results BIGDAVE -
Judder, Whilst Under Light Breaking?
bigdave-is200 replied to Dan_Harris's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
Hi i have the same sort of problem but only just changed all my brakes and discs after about a month it just seems to come back they were bedded in ok i used mintex discs and pads cost a few bob i think fitting is easy but bedding them in is a pain I have noticed if i pump the breaks the shudder goes away for a little while sometimes its fine others i feel them shaking if i break light it shudders but if its firm its fine when i had warped discs it would only shudder at high speeds so i dont think its that I know its driving me nuts tho as i love my car and hate anything not feeling right I think one of my pistons is faulty and its just not breaking true got a mate in leeds who has a pair of calipers for me going to try a few things out if i get any joy i will post what i find if anyone has any advise that would be great Thanks Bigdave -
